So tempting the lure of curvy roads lol...I could possibly be tempted out for a ride before the season comes to an end. Though I'll probably take it at a more leisurely pace given recent events.
@durk no worries, happened as we were splitting up I would have assumed the same thing. Just goes to show you can't ever let up your focus while riding. It is hard to imagine that this is where it happened after thinking about how the rest of the ride went. Definitely glad he doing well...I talked to him on and off all day yesterday.
He's says it was pretty scary for him. No doubt. He's a little down about his bike and itching to get it sorted out so he knows he'll be back on two. Kid is young, he'll heal fast.
We split the group at 800 and 22. Looked like he got confused about which way he was going and tried to slow late to turn left onto 800 N. Locked up the back tire and got sideways and released it while sideways. The tire caught and tossed him from the bike. I watched the whole thing happen as it was right in front of me. He doesn't remember much from the accident. He says he vaguely remembers locking up the rear.
@durk had a great time today. I know @Skinny guy and I both made it home okay. Unfortunately, Thor high sided at the 800-22 split and is under observation at the hospital with a concussion. It appears that the he going to be okay. He called me from the hospital while I was still making my way home. Just a total freak accident.
Apparently the kid I'm planning to ride with has ridden with @FatWilbur before. He rides a blue SV650. I did a small stint with @durk @Skinny guy and @NinjaDoc earlier this season. I just want to hear from @durk and @FatWilbur that they're okay with riders they haven't ridden with much. If it's a go the two of us would join @Skinny guy in Salem at 7 am. If not we'll do our own ride covering many of the same road as that was what I had been planning anyways.
I'm in Cleveland heights, so about 30 minutes from you. I do lots of twistie riding and go visit SEO often. I'm definitely down to set up a ride one of these days to see if our riding styles mesh. Let me know if your interested.
Had a great ride Saturday 9/5 @Skinny guy starting in Carrollton. Stopped at the big muskie bucket. Route 43, 171, 542, 39, 751, 93, 83, 78, 564, 145, 821, 60, 26, 800, 145, 9, 164, 43
Yup definitely not a fan, the lights on the MT aren't the greatest. Though there's too many things to dodge and I feel my vision isn't at good as I'd like it to be in order to ride the way I'd really want to ride. So I just don't do it.
Yeah I swore off Dunlops, I will say it's a biased sample based on the crappy stock tires. I put on a new set of Bridgestone T31s and scrubbed them in on a 270 mile rip with @Skinny guy. So far so good, I was running the S22s.
