  1. Yeah spark was on my list of next thing to check! Just got pull all that plastic off....and maybe when it getz a bit warmer (for when I work under the shade tree).

The only other thought was ice in gas line (or otherwise plugged). Hmm, lets measure the spread on the handlebars....maybe it'll go in the den real nice and its gotta be warmer in the house!

  2. Okay, I'm not refering to the video posted by Fonzie...but I was out and about (riding before all the weather hit)....short trip and back home, it was 34 degrees outside and after 40 minutes away and forty minutes back (only plus 5 every once in awhile). Yes it was cold, I got my artic gear and old ski equipment. I can't believe that I'm tuffer than the machine.

....the rest of the story....Jumped on bike to take another loop and got a coupla blocks from house...and experienced my usual luck! Bad luck it died or good luck that it died only a coupla blocks form home???

...better to push the lump a coupla blocks than 50 miles or so!

So jist is...it just quit at the stop sign, turns over, but not firing (running). With choke full on (this bird is the carbed version) it burbles like it wants to run. As soon as the starter button is released...nuthin'. I was just out on it!

So, it's been sitting and by now, I've changed out the gas...even though I was out and about (I'd been running it pretty regularly between snowflakes so fresh gas two or three tankfuls). Yesterday, fired up all the other garage stash....pointed exhaust from one into the radiator...figured if something was froze hot exhaust may take care of it. NOPE! Still dead....next?

Oh yeah...it turned over great under the exhaust heat, then with choke on and it turns over just slightly less. Snowblower won't start either, but that woulda meant work so let's concentrate on the ole 'Bird.

  3. MOTOGP is the prototypes and all the expense that goes with it. I personally like it. Then the Superbikes, be the less expensive and format is purported to be street (appearing) bikes. All of this as I understand in my limited readings. Tires limited to one manufacturer...again to limit costs to racers, but maybe input from manufacturers too. How many tires do ya need to make and bring to the race?

My personal preference is the MOTOGP, the F1 of motorcycles, so I'd say leave it be. Do yer limitations at the Superbike group...single format (think like them lil' Legends cars...engines are all sealed etc.-becomes a rider formula, rather than major bucks win). But, I'm still a newbie.

  4. Hey! I'm in...being the newbie didn't know about show at IX, so looking forward to it. It'll give me somethin' to do since I'm unemployed. Maybe "Birchwood" and I can con a manufacture into lettin' us be a dealer down here in the woods. Then ya can come down and shop bikes, instead of just tearing up the roads here! I'm still in trouble with one guy...he's bitchin' at me for sportbikes comin' off the hill 2 miles away and hears them that far away...and remarking about them even popping out on CR 19. Okay, yeah, I may have contributed to that one! Uh, you guys did know that the station on the corner in Clark sold racinin' gas?!?! Or did ya just use Tye's regular pump gas?

I still laff at the story of the guy leaning thru the turn and my complainer saying, he is sitting on his deck and couldn't see the dude's helmet as he was leaning too much. Bitched at me as it was a red bike...I got a red bike, so every red bike is me, in this guy's mind. So all red bikes fess UP. Where wuz I, damn ADDH, oh yeah, Happy, uh, Easter?

    Later,

PM's saying Saturday for bike show rendy-vous....Saturday's great...whot time? Caravan? Since both bikes are down now.....hoping the jeep will make it through to show time. Kawikid, GSXRBirch! Connect and travel together.

Don't know how to get ahold of the Walnut Creek stunter's. We could end up with 10 or so-then actually meet instead of waving at one another in passing! Same guy, bitchin' has told me of others...especially the stunter on the Repsol repli!

  5. 70's muscle cars...who's that old to remember them kinda things, or that you could order the Nova with 4:11 posi rear gears and that the Nova with the big block would burn the tires off in third gear? Ah, what a way to go to high school then, huh? Or was that the 60's? I can't recall.

  6. Uh, been lookin' at same deal. Cars, I disconnect, and put the trickle charger on battery just every once in awhile. Riding mower, just replace when needed, do nuthin'. Bikes, got one o' dem battery maintainers....hook it up and it charges when needed and cycles to maintain. Just hook it up and leave it alone all winter. No work that way. You can just fiddle with it on and off, that way you can visit the bike thru the off season. BUT, don't use a car battery charger, unless ya like 'splosions and messes....ever see a battery puff out while it's smokin'?

Make sure it's a battery maintainer and specfic to bike!

  7. Yup! Ya mean ya didn't see me on the T&V? I was most likely on Telemundo too...sweet commentator, and was standing there with mascot and me just behind oogling. Chicago has Blanco playin' for them...he's like Mexico's David Beckham, but as with Beckham, I abused him too. He's too old and Crew players simply danced around and away, and even stripped him of the ball on numerous occasions. Score was Crew down 1 to nil, so I went to the hospitality tent, they needed me to finish off that second bottle of scotch to end this season. Upon my return, having heard the noise in the stadium, knew 'we' had scored. My section asked if I could go back out so they could score again! Cripes! No respect. Even the damn mascot gives me grief about the drinks. Sees me at the gate and does his (her) wrist action of drinkie-poo. The plus on all this is...the beer tender knows what I want. Pretty amazing they know my order without asking, with all the folks that come and go, during a game.

Nice to see John Busch again (former Crew goalie), but he didn't wanna drink before the game.

Kid has lined up flight to Calif, for $300. No game tickets as yet and he and his buddies are now figuring maybe car trek instead. Caravan anyone?

Oh, by the way, they never seem to listen to my directions from sideline...they always run up to the left. Always. Where's the surprise in that?

Yeah, even saw some of the game. Officiating? Well, I just figured that the fix was in, MLS didn't want a small market team to win the shootin' match. HA, beat 'em anyway!! Why does security alway stand by my section? I ain't in the North end!

Tole ya ya shoulda went Kawi Kid! Tommy's Pizza afterwards.

On our "league of our own", we use the motorcycle gloves as goalie gloves, 'cause of the metal across back of knuckles...ref's never notice as they are looking at the filed down metal cleats on our shoes! We play in a different kind of adult league.

Once had a ref from Dublin, Ireland, do a game between the two teams I coached...our friendly. He remarked later, "You guys play rough!" This from a northern Ireland visitor?!?!?!?

It ain't a quik reply, but who knows when I'll find another internet connection!

  8. Dweezel; I'm home you are not! Even Magley is still commuting. Ha!

Nice to meet all you folks. A great turn out @ Roscoe Village and I'm sure I'll not remember all your names. Nice just the same.

Wife is mad at yu....I just blamed you for my not doing the honey-do list items. Sorry dear, I have to meet the grand imperail poo-bah of the ohio touring group. Thanks for the excuse.

Mowing, counter top, drywall, dryer vent, etc ad nausem, all can be done another time. Winter is coming, right?

Next time down, Coblentz chocolates on SR515, in Walnut Creek, just off of SR39.

  9. Yer in, folks. Just be here. I'll PM ya with rough directions down to area, enjoy the ride.

Sam, have fun, although I hear they are policing the Dragon a lil' more intently. Just don't add no bits to the tree sculpture. Lotsa places in mtns. of CA are fun.

  10. Back Woods Tour/ The Outback Snak: It's on for August 30th, Saturday. Meet time in my local 11AM. Col. and Cleve, that' d be sleep in and leave at 9 AM and a grand two hours to be here at 11. Three road samples for your future ride outing plans. Expect to wrap up at 5PM and gives ya a daylight return to yer homes.

Let me know on confirmations. Looks like 5 or 6 right now. In the finest "Fonzie" tradition there are the scenic places to add to your photo album.
