  1. I'm positive there are a handful of cars on CR that will easily handle better than your focus, including mine... Don't go on any further either, I've heard enough. Anyways, back on topic.. it's not too difficult to put cams in a car. You should atleast know how to time your engine yourself before you attempt it though.. and if not I don't recommend it. You could always pick up a haynes or chiltons manual and it does a decently good job of explaining how to do it.

    Alienware

Alienware is garbage.. I promise you There's really nothing special about Alienware items other than the fact that you're just paying out the ass for a name. You can easily mock up an alienware laptop or desktop for much less. Vaio's are really nice and the Toshiba's seem really nice too but I know a couple people that have had problems with Toshiba's overheating with multi-threading enabled but other than that they are slick machines. When I picked up a laptop a year or two ago I went and looked for a good deal on a Dell and believe it or not I'm really, REALLY impressed with the XPS.
  3. That's about where I lost it in the video.. I laughed my fucking ass off Imagine telling a little kid that, you'd ruin their hopes and dreams for years.
  4. Carbs still aren't sync'd and I still have to jet the carbs but I just wanted to share with everyone my engine's first start-up. The throttle response on this car is already out of this world.. and it's not even tuned.
  5. UPDATE #9 10.26.06 Well, after finding multiple bugs and figuring out my timing issue I present to you my start-up video. The engine idles pretty rough right now because the carbs aren't sync'd up but it still sounds pretty damn good.. This saturday Driftz240 is coming to my house to lend me a hand with jetting and basically giving me a crash course on how to tune my carbs
  6. that colt actually looks good with those wheels.. thumbs up
  7. Thanks man, it's come a long way and i'm as about as poor as I get lol. I won't really say how much I have invested in this motor but I really have no clue what to expect out of this motor number wise. A big reason why it's cost me so much is because of the old and outdated head design, and it takes a lot of work to get some good N/A numbers, but it seems though with the specs i'm going with I should expect nearly 200 flywheel hp.. so roughly around 175-180 to the wheels. PLENTY of engine for a 1900lb car. The cams I'm running will put me at a peak HP in the 10k RPM range, but I can't make any predictions.. I really don't know what to expect. I actually track the car quite a bit, I will be driving the car competitively in drifting competitions. I was actually already qualified for the Nationals at Mid Ohio last month but I didn't have my motor put together in time to run in the comp. I do also plan on autoX'ing the car too, just depends on how much time I have to get around lol. I've definately heard of the 7age, and the thing about them is they're just not the same as a 4ag. The biggest advantage of a 7age is the fact that you actually have some nice torque down low, but you lose the best thing about the 4ag, the high-revving ability of the motor. It just doesn't seem too appealing to me since it would just be like any other 1.8 motor out there.
  8. UPDATE #8 10.23.06 http://www.portal.conceptual-x.com/andy/buildup/DSC04994.JPG http://www.portal.conceptual-x.com/andy/buildup/DSC04995.JPG http://www.portal.conceptual-x.com/andy/buildup/DSC04997.JPG These are the pictures of the engine in it's final state.. and I've been working frivolously trying to get this baby to start up, but no with no luck. It turns over, and sounds like it's almost going to start but just doesn't do it. I'm well aware that I have no vacuume advance anymore and I'm trying to figure out my timing accordingly but so far, I have had zero luck. The wiring for the most part was a headache since I despise it greatly.. I ended up taking my old harness, completely stripping all the plugs and wires I don't need off of it, and keeping all the sensors and etc I can still use to monitor the engine. I also had to run a 12v switched wire to the fuel pump to activate it when the ignition was on, but other than that it was fairly easy, thank god. I promise everyone once this sucker gets started I WILL have footage of it coming to life.
  9. from my understanding their courses aren't college accredited so that's a huge downfall IMO.
  10. [red]UPDATE #7 [/size=5][/red] 10.20.06 http://www.portal.conceptual-x.com/andy/buildup/IMG_0118.JPG http://www.portal.conceptual-x.com/andy/buildup/IMG_0120.JPG http://www.portal.conceptual-x.com/andy/buildup/IMG_0122.JPG http://www.portal.conceptual-x.com/andy/buildup/IMG_0124.jpg It's getting closer and closer to that time.. I'm getting really antsy to get this sucker fired up but I'm not rushing this project at all.. It's been a couple days and I've been working my fingers to the bone, I've installed my 1SZ-FE shims, and slapped teh cams in there, installed my under drive pulleys, got the engine all in time, went out and bought some other small goodies like the fuel pressure gauge and a low pressure fuel pump(was a bunch of fun to install..NOT), completely finished my fuel lines, rigged up a throttle cable bracket for my linkages, I took a plug out of the 4th injector hole and put a nipple in there to hook up my brake booster up to(I'm still unsure if i'll need a vacuum tank), changed my slave clutch cylinder, pulled my frozen pilot bearing and replaced with a new one and installed my clutch and transmission, installed the starter, GOSH I've done it all the past couple days. The ONLY thing I can think of right now that really needs to be done is just finish the wiring for the MSD and see if I can get it started. Footage should be up tomorrow night if all goes well .
  11. I might wrap a thin material like pantyhose over the trumpets but other than that.. nope. thing about that though is I really just have to change the oil a lot more often and be careful in the conditions I drive it in.

  14. UPDATE #5 10.5.06 Two months down the line and you're probably curious what I've been up to right? I wasn't really going to do an update to fill anyone in yet until I had pictures of what's going on but I think it's simply just been too long to keep putting this off any more. Also it was brought up to my attention that people were getting antsy as to what's been acomplished over this time. To be honest, not a whole bunch.. but I have become quite knowledgable about much more than I was before. From reading the previous update it was stated that I had problems with having the wrong wrist pin size on my pistons.. well my choices were to have custom pistons made and wait 5-6 weeks just to get them back, or get custom Pauter rods made for me and recieve them within the same week. Needless to say I went with the custom rods knowing that this was probably the best choice since I would have the reasurrance my once weakest link is now not of concern at all. It wasn't the cheapest route but I'm glad I made that decision. SO, after receiving all the correct parts so the machine shop could start their work I ran into another problem shortly thereafter. I was told my stock shims wouldn't work with my 304 cams with 8.5mm of lift. This came as a surprise to me because I figured I could've barely gotten away with the stock shims since the cams weren't over 9mm but I guess not, so RIGHT at this moment I'm STILL waiting to be told what clearances I'll need to order for my motor. Yet again, another area I was hoping I wouldn't really have to deal with but I have no problem forking out the extra money for good shims. Aside from these long pauses in my machine work I have collected other various parts such as my Weber 45's, Carb manifold and Linkages, FPR, Headers, MSD 6al and pill kit and my under-drive pulley kit will be on it's way with my 1sz-fe shims. My car has just been sitting in the garage same as it was before just waiting on the motor to be done, that's really all I can do right now is wait. I promise everyone once it all comes together I will have a ton of pictures, but this is just a little feed back on what's going on. UPDATE #6 10.16.06 This is that BIG update everyone's been waiting on. I apologize ahead of time for the crappy pictures of the assembly, but I forgot my camera. The past weekend has been a really long weekend for me, as well as the past two nights after work. I got word friday that the motor was ready to be picked up so I headed to Cincinnatti Friday night and Derrick and I picked up the motor at 8 o'clock sharp and begun the assembly. With all the parts before us we got started right away. We got all the pistons pressed in, and the rods all put together, got it rotating and put the pickup, windage tray and oil pan on and turned the crank to find that there was a clearance issue with my rods and my windage tray. Turns out the rod bolts were nicking the windage tray so we made some small little modifications and again put it all together. We then got the headgasket prepped with copper spray, and put the head on. As you can see we weren't messing around with the copper spray.. this engine will sh*t pennies when I start it up lol . Head went on without problems and I then packed up the rest of my old and new parts and headed home. On the side note, I did get the measurements for my shims and I ordered them Friday night. I recieved them today(monday) but I missed the shipment and I have to wait till tomorrow. Anyways, I'm not able to put the cams in all the way because I have to replace the old shims with my shimless, but I was able to plug up the spark plug holes and get some etc work done. I wasted no time gettin the engine put back in my car and putting the alternator and etc back on my motor. I've been working on this the past two days and even today after work. I re-attached the waterlines, plugged up my injector holes, test fitted my carb manifold, fitted the linkages on the carbs, mounted my MSD box and FPR. Unfortunately I can't put the transmission on yet because the rear main bearing was dipped with the block and it's frozen but I've got a new one coming in tomorrow as well as my shims so it should be pretty **** close to running. On a lighter note, I decided to add a little bit of fun into the project.. I swung by Staples and got myself an easy button. If you didn't know already it's basically a button you push that says, "That was easy.." Well, my idea is to wire it up to my ignition as a push button start so when the motor cranks and starts it will say, "That was easy.." All that's left right now is to get the bearing changed, put my shims in, seat the cams and put in all the cam cover seals, wire up my MSD and the small little things and hopefully see if I can get her started. I'm going to get video footage of getting it started so everyone can enjoy the project coming to life.. keep checking back I'm going to be making some progress regularly now that I have my baby back.
  15. BF goes homo.. I lost almost all interest after the original BF1942 because it was just getting too sci-fi. Even BF2 was just too over the top for me because everything was so modern and truthfully, just wasn't as fun.
  16. haha, how did they get up the wall.. that's the part i'm trying to figure out. It almost looks like they took a floor mat and put it up against the wall so they climb the rug and fly up in the air.
  17. uhmm what the fuck does a smurf with dynamite strapped to him have to do with Fergie?
