We are making the plans based on paying for it ourselves. I'm sorry; 20k is a waste for a wedding. Ours out the door will be maybe 6-7k, and it is going to be a pretty decent setup (including a nice reception w/ sit-down meals, white glove service, and booze included). Why in the hell wouldn't they ask the mom about this, I don't know, more than 10 days before the freaking wedding?? I have zero pitty for them. Take some responsibility.

Dump her. And this is coming from someone who was in that situation. I dated a chick for 3 years (about a year too long). After about a year, she started pushing for the engagement thing, and during the 3rd year really started pushing it. We had some problems, fought a lot, and neither were truely happy. If she has to push you, you DO NOT want to marry her. Period. As much as I thought about the time invested, how she wasn't a bad person, and all that BS...in the end, the best thing we did was end the relationship. And now...I am engaged. To a wonderful woman that never ONCE pushed anything marriage wise. Hell, she has made damn sure I'm comfortable with it. I knew I wanted to spend the rest of my life with her, and knew I wanted to get married. You shouldn't have to fight regularly. You shouldn't ever feel pressured to get married. Anyone who says otherwise is an idiot.

U-Verse: Let's get real...DSL isn't exactly reliable, and now you are depending on DSL for your television service as well. Though I hear they offer HD services, there is bandwidth limitations with it as well. TW: Their DVR software update is a mix of good/bad (my fiancee is stuck with TW in her condo, sadly). The update seems to be a semi-copy of WOW's. You FINALLY get to scroll through channel listings while watching the channel via the arrow keys (I hate using the guide...this was something I really hated about TW previously). But, you lost the 4x FF/RWD on the DVR, which really sucks. And of course the various software issues, though seems better now that it was. Her TW service likes to die regularly (plant issue, as it is impacting her neighbors as well). DirectTV/Dish: I like watching TV when it rains. They don't like that idea. They also don't offer telephone/HSD.

Worst weddings I've ever been to have been dry weddings. I actually can't recall a dry wedding that was even tolerable. My wedding is in a few months in Niagara Falls. There WILL be booze, and a variety of it. Pre-paid bar too. And no one will have to drive, as it is in a very cool reception hall at the hotel we will be staying at (20-something stories up facing the falls). We will be having a fun wedding. Still doing tuxes/dresses, and getting it done in a small chappel, but focusing on fun and hanging out more than super strict traditional stuff. Should be a blast.

It is PAINFUL to listen to testicle radio; usually just pop in a CD or turn the radio off. - I don't like commercials with my music - I don't like censored music - I don't like hearing the same 8 songs over and over - I enjoy having a LARGE selection of music to choose from - I enjoy having good talk radio (my girl set my alarm to a station that plays Bob and Tom...what a shitty way to wake up in the morning; their program is way worse than I thought it would be). I assume you don't believe in cable/dish television either. Or high speed internet. Same difference.

I've stayed in a couple nice cabins there. I wouldn't personally have a honeymoon there (we are having ours at a all-inclusive resort somewhere tropical). But it would be nice for a wedding/reception area.
