  1. I deal with this as part of my job, and an employer most certainly can. If I let everyone off that wanted time off around Xmas, we wouldn't have enough people working to cover our needs. I do it on a first request basis until a specific day is at capacity for people to be off. That said, I have even had employees lose vacation time because they didn't use it in time (we have set amount that can be carried over to the next year), and because everyone tries to use their remaining time up in December, once every day is full - too bad, so sad. Of course, they are given ample warnings that they need to use their time up (starting in September), so I have no sympathy for them not getting to take their time.
  2. Dentalworks. I go there, no issues. But I also have really good insurance. Just had a deep cleaning, and paid nothing but my co-pay (regular cleaning is covered 100%).
  3. I HATED all of my Windows Mobile phones I've had (couple HTC units and a Treo Pro), so I can't imagine liking this.
  4. There is no such thing as a "digital antenna." That's a marketing term.
  5. I pay for hardware. Stealing cable impacts the use of paying subscribers. Why, do I need to audit your house?
  6. I just started playing it...mostly on the shitter. I have the, ummm, "free" paid version.
  7. Easy fix - up import tariffs, which will equal the playing field.
  8. Yes, Youtube is always slow. Even with shitty quality videos.
  9. Hmm, I had the day off and wasn't nearly as bad: - Spent a few hours in the basement, cleaning/organizing. It's amazing how much shit we have. Now I just need to list a bunch of stuff on Craigslist. - Took a 2 hour nap mid-day, after having lunch and a couple cold ones. - Went out tonight and bought a nice leather sofa for our loft, so we finally have all the furniture we need to buy for up there. - Washed the shit off of my shoe that I stepped in last night at my mom's house, after visiting her last night. Whatever dog shit there must have ate a tub of glue, as the hose and a scrub brush wouldn't get it off...I had to dig at it with a freaking screw driver. Your day was worse than mine.
  10. Nope...that's why I upgraded to my AVR 254...which is NOT for sale.
  11. Not yet. I took my wife's quad, which was actually far more fun than I imagined it would be. That 250cc 2-stroke was able to keep up alright, even though it was far outclassed by the 450R Honda and the Honda TRX 700 (I want that quad). Of course it wasn't nearly good enough in the straights - not a big problem on trails though. $250 deductable - I know it won't cost nearly that to fix it myself. I just need to take it apart and see what it damaged. Luckily they didn't do any body damage.
  12. There are no prices out there to honor. Sears released their shitty deals, but that's about it for TV's.
  13. Wrong, but thanks for playing You HAVE to be joking. Your Netflix can't physically look HD with that setup, no matter what resolution you are streaming. You are wathing a 720p TV with a source that can output, at max, 480p. Have you ever even seen a nice TV? I stream Netflix regularly - at best, it looks like a compressed HD stream. Most of their "HD" content is DVD quality. And this is streaming through a PS3 to a large 1080p TV, not a freaking Wii (which I found the Wii looks worse using the component cables vs. the composite cables, back-to-back on our 720p 50" LCD rear projection). What I really am not getting is why is ANYONE buying a TV right now. Black Friday is in a couple of weeks - that is when the real deals will be out.
  14. Don't fall for the expensive cables are better bullshit. 6' length and below, any non-garbage cable will run whatever bandwidth you will need. The concern really only starts coming into play at above the 6' mark, something most folks will never deal with. http://www.audioholics.com/education/cables/long-hdmi-cable-bench-tests/hdmi-cable-testing-results
  15. Me a a few buddies went quadding at Wayne yesterday. All 4 of us went it my truck, and loaded up the bed with all the usual stuff (tools, gas can's, extra jackets, etc.). We parked in an area with a good chunck of vehicles. As we got back at the end of the day, we pull up and a guy says we need to check my truck, as someone has been going around stealing gas cans. Mind you, I have my tailgate locked with my bed covers on, so you can't just get in without breaking in. But my tailgate was open when I looked over at the truck. They ended up doing something to the locking mechanisim that I will have to f' with later today (I have to now break into it to open my tailgate). They stole an old container of pre-mix with about a 1/2 gallon in it, a 5 gallon container with about 2 gallons of gas in it (container was a super leaky POS), a quart of 2-stroke injector oil, and a few Harbor Freight tools, valued at about $30 new. They didn't take the empty gas can though, so they really just wanted the fuel. Seriously, who the fuck runs around stealing gas like that? Honestly, they could have stole my bed covers and sold them for more than what everything else they stole from everyone in that lot was worth combined. Thank god they didn't breaking into the cab of the truck...that's where anything of value was located. Or they could have stolen my trailer! Could have been worse, and at least we had no mechanical issues at all for the whole day.
  16. I am really looking forward to next season. If all goes to plan (and nothing has went off-plan yet), I will be in the position to buy a newer boat next season, and sell mine off. I refuse to sell mine until another boat is in my garage, though.
  17. Harmon Kardon AVR 235 http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=168&pictureid=2930 http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=168&pictureid=2944 7.1 surround, component switching, etc. No remote, though I'll throw in a universal that will do the day-to-day needed functions, and you can do the rest from the front panel. Or you can simply buy a new one on E-bay for $20-30. Price: $235. I'm in no "need" to sell it, so I'm not really looking to come off of that price. Sound quality is excellent. Only reason I stopped using it is because I upgraded to a nicer (and more expensive) Harmon Kardon unit.
  18. It's not a might, or "hopefully they will," WOW in 2011 is rolling out a pile of new HD channels.
  19. My buddy has a 2001 Grand Cherokee Limited that now has 160k on the clock. They seem to have a number of common issues among all of them, but none have been super expensive to fix. Tranny cooler line, rear wiper motor is a big piece of crap, heater motor flap (that was fixed prior to him getting it), some control item for the tranny died, etc. You can get one well under budget. He got his about 4 years ago from Buyers Volvo, in great shape, 90k miles, every option except the offroad skid plate, for 10k cash out the door. I'm sure you could get it a lot cheaper 4 years later! But are you stuck with an SUV, or would a quad-cab type truck also fit the bill? With the weather-proof bed covers on my Avalanche, I can haul items in the back in the winter. Plus when my SUV owning friends need to borrow my Avalanche to do stuff, that says something.
  20. In 2011, WOW will be releasing a lot more HD channels too. From what I gather (no channel details yet) it will be a very significant increase in HD content. Too bad I'm stuck with Time Warner where i live. I'm getting to the point where I need to look into DirectTV/Dish.
  21. #1: I was already out of contract #2: I would have cancelled 2 days earlier if I had known to worry about a policy like this, which is why we called and asked. Seems like a pretty common type of question. #3: If I am paying for the full month, and service doesn't cancel until the end of that month, why is my service shut off? Essentially, they were wanting to charge me for a service they were not providing.
  22. So you are saying the policy is to charge a full month for 2 days of service?
  23. It's pretty obvious she isn't the sharpest tool in the shed.
  24. So you are saying to cross shop 70k cars with high 30k cars? Is that right? If you want a track-only car: - Brand new car is a retarded choice - Better options out there for a track-only car than a Mustang both new and used Do you really think you would be cross shopping these cars? No, you'd be looking at other performance oriented cars in a similar price range. If the M3/RS5 were in the same price range, then I could see you cross shopping (and you would also be a fucking idiot if you picked the Mustang as the same price point). They aren't comparable. Sit in each and you will understand why.
