nothing like the sound of a car gargling on water.

Ok, I just drove the car in the rain and you know those little tar strips from where they repair the roads? Well, when it hit's those you can feels the car (or the one wheel which is on the tar strip) lose traction and the car slightly jiggles then grabs traction. Now, at the same time when that wheels gets traction back it makes a slight "donk" noise. So, it needs an alignment (although it drives straight down the road) and the tires are probably cupped, which would cause the high speed noise. What do you guys think?
-
...actually I need it taken out of my '04 Crown Vic and then installed in my '02 Explorer. Anyone on here do that stuff or can recommend a place? Thanks, BC
-
WTF is that ^ thing? He looks pissed off, I'd give him his bucket back!
-
They are Goodyears. My wife used to have a focus back in the day and it kinda made the same noise from the day we bought it.
-
I just bought my wife an '05 and it has 58k on the ODO. All highways miles but I got a REALLY good deal on it. Anyway, I'm used to american cars (Crown Vic, Explorer etc) and they are both very quiet vehicles when it comes to Tire/wheel noise. The maxima has this kind of droaning noise at low speeds, at like 15-30mph and then a lot of tire noise at higher speeds. Basically you can always hear the wheels turning. I'm not sure how else to explain it. The car has 18's with decent rubber and the brakes seem pretty good, no shake and the car rides silky smooth. Any insight? I'm thinking new Rotors and Pads, then maybe tires. The tires are 80% used.

Thanks for all compliments guys. I've decided to keep it, but like they say everything is for sale for the right price. The wife, AKA the "Boss" gave me the ok on my "projected budget" to get this thing into the 1000hp range by spring time. I'll be moving to Florida towards the end of next year, so it will be interesting to see how the Tampa race scene reacts to the car. All I gotta say is Tilly, your ass is mine! ;-)

He must not want to admit it. Anyway, Bubba called and said Deenda Mydick misses you.
-
^ that was hilarious

Hey Rob, did you used to date a chick named Deenda?

Yeah, it's hard trust me! The street racing scene in Tampa is probably one of the hottest in the Country. I've just grown up and I don't have the nerves for this stuff anymore. Maybe later in life it will be another chapter in my life. Oh yeah, I just made an offer a '03 Cobra Convertible. ;-)
-
Trust me, this is going to be one the hardest things I've done in life! This car has been a part of me for over 8 years. I've done 99% of the work myself and it's like the car is a piece of me, a part of my heart. Sounds corny, but hey it's gonna be hard. We're moving to Florida and I just want something my wife and Son can enjoy as well. Maybe a Terminator or GTO. I don't know. Go to autotrader.com and search the entire US and see how many '86 GT Vert's you find and you'll NEVER see one like this, NEVER.
-
I would consider trades. I'm looking for something more "family friendly"... 99 Cobra would be nice. Something along those lines. I'm open to offers.

I'm the 2nd owner. Original owner was a 80 year old Granny. Anyway, to let the cat of the bag... - CHP Pro Street 347 Short Block - DSS Billet Main Girdle - Canfield's CNC's and ported by Fox Lake (flow 320/260 @ 600) - Custom Nitrous Cam - Novi 2000 Blower - NX 100-300hp wet big with "BIG SHOT" noids - Port match Victor Jr, 75mm TB - 1 5/8" MAC shorty's, 2 1/2 H pipe to 2 Chamber Flows with Polished tips - Electric Fan, 3 Core radiator, Trans cooler with all braided/AN fittings - Fully rollerized C4, red clutches, Billet Servo Hurst 1/4 stick, Reverse VB - 9" 4500 stall - Aluminum DS w/loop, 8.8 with FMS 373 gears, 31 Spline Moser, Auburn Pro Diff and Moser C-clip eliminators - '03 Cobra Rims, 255's in the front and 275's in rear, MT ET Streets on 15's - SN95 Spindles, cross drilled/slotted rotors Hawk pads - New Black top (needs installed) - 6pt cage with swing out And tons of spare parts, TONS. Tons more, too much to list. OVER $25k invested The last time the car was on the dyno, the car made 505 rwhp at 5,000 rpm and only 8lbs of boost. We ran out of fuel and had to stop. The car will rev to 7,000 and make 20+psi. Plus the juice in the trunk. The internals and drivetrain are good for 1000hp. In order to accomplish this you would need a stronger block and bigger fuel system. There is maybe 100 miles on the Short Block. It's all fresh. The way the car sits, with a 200 shot (blower is off the car right now) it's good for low 11's. This car is a BLAST to drive.
