  1. I agree, Desktop Dyno takes in just enough info that it seems to be pretty real-world as long as what you put in is fairly accurate (port-flow..etc) It's a great tuning tool to see what kind of improvements you can make. Even if the "baseline" you make is not perfect... you can get a pretty good idea of waht kind of gains you can expect from other mods... (even if you measure it in Purple Elephants to begin with.. you can kinda figure what will make significantly more "purple-elephants" w/ changes in camshaft timing..etc.)
  2. ..Thought about it some more.. Maybe i am just an Alky...
  3. Not to hijack a thread here.. But, Brian.. You're Mr. Killians?... That's sweet. I thought I had drank nearly every bottle produced since 1864 (?)
  4. I agree. It's amazing how good those wheels look on almost any car. If they only made them in my size...
  5. Yeah..'03 would be the next itteration up from where I stand.. and free Bilsteins also... FYI - GT shocks are for shit w/ IRS... hence the impromtu Koni addition...
  6. See..I am spawning minions... (okay..not exactly..or at all graemlins/bsflag.gif )
  7. Check out Hensler Racing.. brakes are not his "bread n' butter" but I'd imagine he can set you up.
  8. If you do go w/ the Vortec heads.. make sure that when you buy rocker arms you get the "self-aligning" variety. Also, as far a the pushrod slot in the head goes, you can buy a "louis-tool" to use as a guide and lengthen the slot yourself (it's more of a length issue... the 1.6 rockers work by moving the rocker fulcrum inboard and it brings the pushrod a little closer to the stud end of the slot)..and of course the aformentioned Vortec style intake. I think the studs (although pressed in like mentioned above) are pinned, which would make them okay for some smaller-end aftermarket cams Side note: I think the valve springs are good for .470ish lift(my memory is not so good at times though)
  9. I agree, but I can't seem to get anyone to help me rob a bank to pay for it with my NOT money.
  10. The IRS swap was done with handling in mind... I knew it would be a poor choice for Drag racing. I just happened to have a friend wanting to swap his cobra to solid axle and I said why not?.
  11. Hi everyone. I have decided to make my first Noob post in the Noob arena... I live on the west side of Columbus. My car is a '99 GT with independent rear suspension from an '01 Cobra. It also has Cobra brakes all around, Springs, Konis and such. On street tires I have run some weak ass low 14's. I guess that's not too bad given that the engine is totally stock and the fact that wheelhop is definately an issue with IRS (or I just like making excuses ). Anyway, I have been getting the itch to throw on some drag radials and try for mid 13's or so at least (I am still more of a drag racer at heart). I had a long ongoing street/drag car project '89 Mustang LX... that I dumped money hand over fist into and sold when it was 90% done. I kind of regret selling it, but it was a great learning experience. I am really wanting to do it all over again when my budget permits... Seems to be the way these things work. [ 21.
