  1. Yeah, he just about hit his car while backing up since no one was giving him directions. That's why everyone gasped/laughed a little after he backed up. I'm sure it got some rubber on it.
  2. That's The middle of downtown Delaware at Noon yesterday. The mayor of Delaware declared this week "Jeg's Week" and to kick it off they arranged to show Mike Coughlin's new Top Sportsman car (and his Nomad) and had a speach and such. After the mayor's speach they blocked traffic for a few minutes so they could do a burnout down the street past the City Hall building. It's pretty odd to see what is essentially a Pro Stock car doing a giant burnout across an intersection and down a city street. I don't think alot of the people there knew they planned to do that. I'm surprised they didn't get the word out more before it went down. And, that's all Big Block Chevy... Sorry, no Ecotecs here.

  6. I lost around 60 pounds a few years ago just by changing my diet to something similar to FC500 (but, no excercise because I was lazy). I really didn't follow a diet plan of any kind, just fixed my eating habits to include portion control and spreading my food intake out more (several small meals as stated above). That alone combined with no longer drinking pop and drinking near a gallon of water a day really made a drastic difference. I kept that weight of for a few years and recently put 20 pounds back on due to letting my diet slip for too long. I went right back to eating like I had been, and that 20 pounds dropped off in just over a month (I did excercise some this time - and it did make me feel better once I got in a routine).
  7. Actually (as I beleive was previously stated), RWD cars can understeer or oversteer depending on suspension setup and design. Mustangs (with a live axle) for example can understeer badly with stock suspension, but have a problem with "snap-oversteer" when nearing the edge of adhesion (near the edge, not only when the tires break loose - before). This is mostly due to bind in the rear suspension and shitty geometry/design. Lots of other RWD car examples could be given to illustrate both understeer and oversteer conditions - I just use the Mustang b/c in stock form you typically end up fighting both... and I am a Mustang Parrot.:grin2:

  10. The one Kevin was talking about is mine. It's actually from an 01, which is simliar (31 spline shafts, Eaton and has a KB support and solid dif bushings), but the '03-04 is upgraded a bit more from there, and I believe the clutches in the Eaton are CF... I just replaced the Factory Eaton and off-brand gears that were in it a couple of weeks ago and they were both beat to hell, but I don't think I can contribute ALL of that to racing, as the gears were never set up right from the day the previous owner bought it. I think he was launching the car at 6k. His car is all bolt ons, naturally aspirated, so he's a bit down on power from a stock '03 still, but that's still a hell of an aggressive launch. You really can get a decent launch with IRS if it's set up right. This came out of Todd Kehrer's car, a somewhat local guy (Amanda/Lancaster area) so you may have seen it around (also it's the car in the B&M ad in all the Mustang squirrel mags this month). After tuning all last season with my solid axle (really he's now just using my housing, springs and brakes at this point) he has just now got it down to the same 60' times as with the IRS. It really made a big difference when he added the support brace (which the '03 already has) and the solid dif bushings. He always ran Hoosier QTP's, so I am not sure you would necessarily have the same stick as him with a DR, as they are a good bit stiffer, but it would be worth a try if you don't want to run a bias-ply tire. Obviously tire choice will play a major role in how well it works too. On street tires, even with my NOT-Cobra power I couldn't keep it stuck at all, but the wheel hop still wasn't all that bad (traction is much better now with the Torsen dif I swapped to, though). Just thought I'd relate what was done to get those 60' times, so maybe that will help. It really doesn't seem to take much to make them work well, or at least okay for drag racing. Oh, and the ride quality is much nicer with the IRS if that's a factor.
  11. It's supposed to be Passionfruit flavored, but I dunno... I haven't tried it yet as I am trying to lose weight and it has like a cup of sugar in it (54 grams anyway). Also I would think that 2000 mg of Taurine would make you poop for hours (yes, I called the shit poop).
  12. You might also look into BearShare (although BitTorrent is good and is probably my second choice). I have had the best luck with getting decent quality there and it's not as loaded with viruses as it seems many of the other ones are. The only bad part is the spyware you have to download with the free version, but it's easy to remove. You just do a search for "save" and when it finds "saveuninst", run it (double click) and it takes the SaveNow crap off. It warns that some featues of BearShare may stop working...but that's not the case. +1 to both
  13. I have seen a couple of engines that didn't oil the top end properly because the cam bearings were installed incorrectly, and the oil holes didn't line up. If it has done this from the start and the simple stuff doesn't do the trick, you might look there.
  14. The early TKO (produced before the Tremec 500 & 600 was released) uses a 26-spline disc and a 31 spline output shaft. You would need a tremec specific shifter (same as the one that fits the old tremec 3550 - B&M #45054 for instance) and a 31-spline trans yoke (FRPP sells one - available @ Jegs or probably any trans shop). If you don't already have a clutch, it's no price difference usually, just make sure the kit you get is for a 26-spline input (Centerforce does a DF for it). If you already had one for a 10-spline input - you'll need to at least get a 10.5" 26-spline disc (although at that point, you should probably just buy a whole matched kit). Since you'd already have the bellhousing... the shifter, clutch and driveshaft yoke are really the only other worries. As for driveshaft length, I thought they remained the same, but I am not sure.

  16. I usually hover around 3200-3500kbps w/ RoadRunner in Delaware. Austin, I had Earthlink cable internet (it's still Time Warner's equipment, same as RR) when I lived in Ashville. I was right in the middle of town though, but you might see if it's available to you. I was pretty pleased with it. I have heard that satellite has a fair amount of lag, and is easily affected by weather/cloud cover.
  17. I listened to alot of different setups (Bose included) before buying my current setup, and was really impressed with the sound of the Paradigm Atom. It had come down to the Atom or entry-level Klipsh(forget the #) and I decided to go Paradigm (4 Atoms and a CC270 center), as they fit my budget better and sounded warmer to me. When I went to pick up the Atoms, I ended up "auditioning" a set of Titans (next size larger than the Atom) and was even more impressed at the clarity and warmth. So, I ended up with 4 Titans and the CC270 center, and couldn't be happier without spending another $1k+. For near-refference quality on a budget, they are worth taking a listen to. I got mine from Audio Encounters in Dublin. They have several set up you can listen to. It's important to listen to them because opinions in this sort of thing will vary wildly, and it's pretty common for people to like different characteristics in their music/movie sounds (warmer/brighter/etc).

Mach 1's were produced 2002-04 and are different from the GT in that they have: An aluminum block DOHC Engine (much like the 99-02 non-supercharged Cobra... not quite as much HP, 305 I think) Sportier suspension (basically same as the Bullitt GT...Tokico shocks..etc) Larger brakes (same as Bullitt also...minus the red calipers) Shaker hood (cold air induction...looks cool, probably not a big deal for making power) 3.55 Gears "Magnum 500 style" wheels I don't think they are available as a 'vert. These cars can run very low 13'- high 12's pretty easily with traction and a good driver.
  19. You can get a mailorder "custom tune" here: http://www.fastchip.com/. Usually you're better off getting a dyno tune to get the best tune, but if you can't find anyone to dyno-tune it, this is probably the next best thing.
  20. I attended kind of a mix of the performance driving course and the advanced course. Basically it was some of both crammed into a one day event. They kind of gave us a "taste" of everything except lapping solo (although I did get a 7/10ths blast around the track with Tommy *damn rain*). That class was probably one of the funnest things I have done in a long time, and it taught me alot about car control and anticipation. I thought I was a fairly good driver before, but they showed me I have alot of bad habits and how to correct them. I think if I had the whole 3 days to work at it, i could have really showed some improvement. Even though I just got the one day in, it changed the way I drive and has renewed my plans to finally get out and do some autox and maybe some HPDEs when I find the money. Also, those RSXs are pretty well prepped and were a blast to drive on the autox and threshhold braking drills (although I suspect part of that is knowing it's not my car I am beating up). Overall, I think it was a great experience. I would like to do it again, the whole class. You may not get alot of seat time, but you'll get plent of valuable instruction that you can later apply when you get some real track time.
  21. The dished pistons are needed to get the compression down to 10.4:1 so that he can run pump gas. It seems like alot of dish, but with 58cc chambers and a 4" stroke in the mix... it's not hard to end up at 11.5:1 or so even with flat tops.
  22. Well, besides the lack of motivation... I lack the money. So, it looks like I'll be continuing the be slow for quite some time. I think I will finally get around to fixing the rear and the other 50 small things it needs as soon as I work out alternative transportation for the winter.
