  4. Sweet, I almost got 100 gallons of used oil. I am gonna fill one more 55 gallon drum then I will be in touch with you.
  5. I'm trying to figure out how I can take a set of headers and turn them upside down and get water to them without having it go back into the motor.
  6. Its hard to put an open exhaust on a boat. Its usually limited to what you can run seeing as it has to be surrounded with water jackets to keep it cool. I am researching making a set of headers for it now to get it exit alil better. But thats another thread. I appreciate all the help guys. Gonna goto Jegs this weekend. Also will post some pics of the build even though its not much to see.
  7. Well what are your guys guesses on hp that this motor will put out with these carbs. I am hoping for 300-330 flywheel. Basically what it makes at the flywheel is what its gonna make at the prop. I cant really see much hp loss from the outdrive. Again I ask this cause I am not sure what a carb motor can make with little mods.
  8. Well if they are equal in strength then I am obviously gonna go with the cheaper of the two. Whats the benefit of the holley over the Edlebrock?
  9. I got the arrestor already and I am not really concerned on it being marine approved or not. Basically I am taking this motor as if I were putting into a car and trying to make the most power out of it. I will have marine approved parts on it, i.e. starter, alternator but the rest I am not to worried.
  10. .30 over 350. 462/477 262/268 flat tappet cam. I post the intake above. Vortec heads that have a clean up port job.
  11. Well I will be getting an electric choke on the new carb. So I guess I will not worry about that part. Now how do I know if I got to much carb. I have a 750 dp sitting here I can use for free but I'm thinking that would be to much.
  12. He'll I dunno what is. It's a little lever that goes into the intake itself.
  13. Ok, I can do the idle stuff. Also the intake I am running is jets #513002. Now back to the questions. What is the piece that runs into the intake itself?
  14. I like it as well. Thought about doin it to my boat but the water here is not the clearest so I dunno how well it would work.
  15. This boat motor has been a new learning experience for me with flat tappet cams and carbs. Right now it has the quadrajet, aka the quadrajunk carb, which worked fine for the stock motor. I wanna go with alot better flowing carb. Been thinking about a 600cfm http://www.jegs.com/i/Holley/510/0-4776SK1/10002/-1 for the new motor. Basically I need a complete break down of a carb i.e., the boat doesnt have a electric choke nor a manual, so is there a vacuum style one? Also whats the piece that goes into the intake manifold. It would be on the passenger side of the motor. Also can I just strap this carb on the motor and be good to go? Or am I gonna have to jet this and that to get it to work right? Should I keep the quadrajet on to break in the cam since its kinda already setup to go then switch? I honestly have never dealt with carbs so I want to learn. Thanks jerks

  17. If the ls2 is a new motor, you would be an idiot to not go with it. Plus I bet the ls2 is making just under what the modded ls1 is making.
  18. Got the jizz for breaking in the cam. I know as soon as I get it started to get the RPM to 2500-3000k and keep varying them without letting it fall below 2k for a good 20 mins or so. Then change the oil and filter like any other motor after break in. Also what oil are you running? I have read of using rotella 15w-40 diesel oil? Seems alil weird but if true I am in heaven cause I gots tons of that stuff
