People don't understand what snow making can do. Generally speaking once they make their own snow it stays. I tell people I'm going out to Mad River and sometimes they don't believe me when I say there is snow out there. If we relied on real snow we would never be open. Most places out East had much shorter seasons before snow making existed and there basically wasn't skiing in Ohio until snow making. I'd guess on average they are open solid for 2.5-3 months. Unfortunately the last two years we've had cold snaps then pretty nasty warm snaps. Places out west are getting big into snow making and even seeding, just to put into perspective what it can do. They wouldn't put money into snow making unless it made them money, and they do get xxx inches per year. People get addicted because it's so much fun. I'm just assuming here, but another reason you may not understand is that you may just not be into outdoor sports or activities in general. I hike/backpack/camp, bike, run (mostly during the summer months), then primarily ski in the winter. I'm doing something outside most of the time. Just because I don't understand why you are into donkey shows doesn't necessarily mean it's wrong.

It'll probably be a shitty codec and a program plagued with problems.

Nothing in Ohio is leaps above anything else. All of them are around the 250ft-300ft range for vertical elevation drop and around 100acres. Having said that, I've been to one of the hills up there, can't remember which one (Boston Mills or Brandywine) and I was far from impressed, even compared to MRM. And there are no ski resorts in Ohio either. A few stats on each of the hills. Mad River 144 Ski-able/Ride-able acres 300-foot vertical drop BMBW 240 Foot Vertical Drop 85 Skiable Acres Regardless of that, glad you had fun and hope to see you out at MRM. :woowoo:

Didn't think of that, I'll see what I can find out tomorrow.

I'd really like to know this information for my own personal use.

If anyone knows how to get a donation to the other driver/their family I would greatly appreciate it. TIA, Jesse

Professional Tuners & Enthusiasts: Need your input

Yup, but you can make 2d and 3d graphs with some of those dimensions that make sense. You just have to pick and chose 'correctly'. Any graph is just an aid to interpret what's going on with the data. Or you just look at the numbers. -
Lol, looks like he drank some of it. That's awesome.

Well, Ben is one of the people posting. Roxor on the post. We've been talking about going to a dinner somewhere so we'll have to check this one out... Actually when I look at the address I think I've been there before on my brothers suggestion a long time ago. Got Amy's text the other night, sorry I/we couldn't come out. Didn't get a chance to text back but I'm up in Minnesota for work and was up in Winnipeg for the weekend. Hopefully next time. :woowoo:

I've seen the same thing, so I decided to get a shell card too. Damn, I should think about doing that. I just pay mine off ever month and it might not sting as much some months if I did it ever 2 weeks. This month should be below normal but last two months were $330 and $450. Too much traveling.

When's FIOS getting here?

Who drinks good rum or vodka, what do you drink?
Trouble Maker replied to Trouble Maker's topic in Dumpster
And I say to you what real man doesn't like a good cigar? I'm down. You need to get out to Mad River too sometime. :woowoo: Joe and Howard have been talking about going, we need to get a group to go up there. -
Yup, I know Mimi. I have no idea about her daughter though. I'm out of town for work for this week through next week so I wont' be there. Any other Saturday and I should be there. Some random times during the week too, but we could try to work something out for that later if it works for you. Not surprised about yesterday, I think it's normally one of the busier days of the year.

I was probably drunk at the time, so I forgot it. I actually do remember that, but have just never though about it while I was at the liquor store, that and Tito's is just so damned delicious. You would like a gay rum.... :marc2: Just fucking with you. You can't see it, but there is a bottle of that in the back. My parents picked it and a few other bottles, including the Bacardi Anejo and the Nassau Bahamas Coconut Rum while they were down there. Rum is DIRT cheap down there. I was down there too, but I was on land for about 10 minutes, just long enough to get from the airport to the pier, and not the liquor store or anywhere to pick up any cigars. They didn't pick up an cigars for me, like I've wanted them to every time they've been down there. -
You shouldn't get back taxes you didn't pay, end of story.

Ahahahah, I'm going to have so much fun with this. I went through my class with the last girl you are talking about.... I pretty sure she isn't 18 yet. Jim is a cool guy, but he's old and that's creepy.

Lol at the free drink. I'll say whats up when I see you. Mindy's not ringing a bell, but I'm only on my second year. Most people will stay on the same shift from year to year, so if they aren't on my shift I might only see them a few times a year. It's probably mostly that I'm really bad with names. You digging her daughter or something?

You should get a VW.

I can't say anything that came to my mind that hasn't already been said.

Hmm, I think I've tried it once a while ago and it was alright. I was eyeing it early but I'm not a huge fan of spiced rums. Even the two I have aren't spiced, just flavored 'naturally'. -
My names in my info to the left, I'm a stereotypical looking anglo saxon, about 5'9". I would have had all black on with a black patroler vest (we have the white crosses on our backs). There would have been a few people running around like that, but I'm the only guy around that height. I'm on skis.

I'll have to ask about that. Wait until next winter then. Most people still have to take the class although some can challenge, but I think our local hill is getting away from that. Even if you challenge my rough guess would be you still need to come to about half of everything to learn things you wouldn't otherwise know. The class is every Thursday at 6 (has been for the past few years) for about 6 months so it's a big commitment which I wouldn't suggest someone to do unless they know they can stick around. They took the EMT basic class/curriculum from 95 and made a class and book about doing that outdoors and it's called the Outdoor Emergency Care class. People who are trained in the type of field you are in are great, because they have a ton of experience, even relative to some of our experienced patrolers, because they do this stuff every day. Watching some of the EMT's, nurses and doctors work is awesome to see and I love learning from watching them about how to better handle situations. The problem is they still need trained to our standards because when you are on the patrol you need to adhere to them and nothing 'above' or 'below' them. Really the proper term would be different. This is for a number of reasons, but mostly liability, and mostly for yourself, so it's very important that, as a patroler, we know these things per our standards. Also, you get some knowledge in outdoor care specifically and most of the 'regular' stuff is geared towards working outdoors. You will also get experience working on the hill, our local standards, protocol and training. What I would suggest to do is wait to see if you are around here next year. They've started up an awesome observer program over the last few years. What that allows you to do is ski along with a patroler the winter before you plant to take the OEC (outdoor emergency care class) whenever you come up and see what it's all about. At the same time you can start some of your ski/board training so that process is already started when you get on you first winter of patroling. If you have any more questions please feel free to ask.

Good man. Not a fan of Tequila, thanks for the suggestion though. That second shot is equal parts? I bet that could fuck you up really quick. -
