Trouble Maker

Do you have any idea how loud 1200 watts in an area the size of a car is for your highs and mids? In case you don't know, really fucking loud. Seriously... something in the 50-150WRMS/channel should be fine (depending on the amp and speakers, 50 can be plenty)... the speakers can handel up to 400wrms, that doesn't mean they need it. Even if they fairly inefficient, 100wrms should be plenty (generally speaking) unless you want it to get really loud. What Nitrousbird said about peak vs. rms is correct too. I have a Acoustic Fahernit amp that I was/am selling if you are interested. I don't know anymore specs than what I posted, but I think it's normal for distortion... not low, not high. Decent amp and ceap. Can be seen here. Like the post says, I had this powering 4 Infinity 6.5" speakers with a very loud sub setup (Not the one seen in that post), and it got pretty damn loud. I like listening to my stuff loud and I only ever turned it up past half way when I was showing my stuff off. Just an example of what 4x90wrms can do in a car.

We are working on some stuff that far out too and the vechiel is nowhere near what it will 'look' like when it comes out. At this point for us, and I assume for you, it's more of getting the functional pieces working. Now the 07 stuff we are working on is pretty much 'finished'. At a three year devlopment cycle this car would be in it's infancy. Meaning thoes drawings or renderings would make sense. Even at a four year devlopment cycle that car would only be only a year into devlopment and very far of from looking anywhere near finished.

That's FOUR years from now. Anything at this point would be a concept, which at best might resemble the final product. I remember as soon as it got axed people were on here talking about it coming back in 07 or 08. Now if it were 07, we would have heard something about it by this point, but it's non-existent. Gather what you wish from that. I'm sure the people who want it to come back will somehow take that to mean it is coming back, or that it means nothing. I could care less and that tells me that it's probably not anything more than an idea at GM, if it even is one right now. It got axed because it wasn't profitable, for whatever reasons. The people who made that decision are probably still around for the most part. It would probably take something stupendous for them to decide to bring it back out if the made the decision to axe it in the first place.

You obviously go there at the wrong times. Earlier in the day on the weekends. Right after work on the weekdays is great. Since I have a season pass I will go there for a few hours after work before it gets busy, then home. It will be retarded this weekend though.

That's all fine and well, but noticed I said the cars I'm testing right now already have XM in them. Thanks for the comment though. Sorry, I knew someone was going to say something like that (and if I had posted Sirius I would have gotten the same thing). But see, it really doesn't matter which one is better because they have XM and it's turned on. I'm really close to Canada right now and there are almost ZERO FM or AM stations around here. So it rocks that the cars have the XM turned on.

I'm up in Minnesota[/accent] for the rest of this week and next week, then again for three weeks at the end of January, beginning of February. The two cars I'm testing have XM in them and I was wondering what you guy’s favorite stations are and what type of music they play? It's kind of hard to scroll through 200 channels while I'm driving around and figure out which ones are any good. I'll change to a channel and it has a song I really like, then the next two suck.

channel is a VCS 10, rears are Bose 100 series (crap) . I have an AR sub that sounds wonderful, and I had a friend who had high end AR towers in his living room. They were awesome. All driven by a Harman Kardon receiver. If you want to upgrade, I wouldn't buy Yamaha. I would buy AR if I had to do it over again. If you want to come by and check it out, you're more than welcome. Yeah, I’ve heard some casual music on his system and it’s sounds good as far as I can tell, without every having sat down and actually listened to them. And I hate Bose. I think Bose can make a good speaker, and some of their speakers are good speakers. I absolutely think that any good speaker they, or anyone else has, will be limited to a real sized speaker. Buy this I mean nothing that does not look like the Bose Lifestyle speaker systems. Physics simply dictates that something like that will not work as well as something properly designed (look at just about every other speaker in the world). So this means that you are going to pay more money (because they can/in theory making a speaker like that sound ‘decent’ will take more engineering and/or materials will cost more) for something that doesn’t sound as good. I’m not talking out of my ass either. I’d suggest to just go listen to a bunch of speaker systems, that’s the best advice anyone can give you as you’re ears and taste in sound can be greatly different than any other person that gives you can advice. That is a very competitive price for bookshelf style 5 channel (or even 5.1) speaker systems. You should be able to find half a dozen different combinations at your local Best Buy or Circuit City. Have fun fighting the crowds to play with these systems around this time of year. If you go this route, you’re going to have something that (may be) a little less ‘wife friendly’ (the only thing Bose are good for) but that you’ll actually be pleased with. Speakers, listening to music, and watching movies, just happen to be a few of my passions. I can say this because I’m not married, but if she can’t deal with a few small speakers in you’re basement, I’d be looking to get rid of something in my house other than a set of ‘crappy looking speakers’. There’s no point in plopping down ~$1k on speakers if you don’t go shopping around and/or aren’t pleased with what you get. Bang & Olufsen is far more over hyped than Bose could ever be.

Just remembered, Ginger Man up in MI should be holding some snow days at their track this year. That would be a great place to go do this. They don’t have any dates set yet; I actually don’t know how they work that either. Just wanted to pass the info along.

Damn, that sounds like one cool car. I'm sure that thing can launch like no other. I'd love to see some video when you get it to the track. Do you have ported and polished stock heads? Didn't know very many LSx guys did that.
