  1. Awesome, thanks for the rundown Aaron! It seemed like they were going to open up for online reservations again when 2022 model year started. But finally they aren't doing that and it just says 'go to your dealer'. So as best I can tell, I would have to go into a location. If you're going to wait a year, if I put an order in today it would probably be closer to 1.5-2 years. I guess I have some thinking and more reading about process to do. I imagine this will probably be the last time anyone makes a vehicle like this, so it feels like something kind of special. I wouldn't have guessed a few years ago that someone would come out with a 2 door, manual transmission, off-road focused vehicle ever again.
  2. Probably the exact trim and options I would order... if I did it. Was it as simple as walking into a dealer, or did you already have a relationships with one given a few Ford purchases recently? Any markup, big reservation fee, or anything in the finance area at this time?
  3. I like smaller cars, feel like the 2 door would be just about perfect. I'm all kinds of confused. I thought you might be working, like you were in road construction. But then your info says elevator mechanic and I don't see many elevators on the side of major highways. So I have to think you were just hanging out there.
  4. Thought about figuring out how to order a Bronco now that they have the Sasquatch package w/MT. Looks difficult to even figure out how to order, then you'll have to wait probably 1-2 years. I'm good. The work seems more likely to be worth it for something actually special like a C8 Z06.
  5. Seriously, everyone knows the right offer is...
  6. At first I was like, I can help here, I've been to Denver. Well, I've been through the Denver airport, then did stuff in other parts of CO. So, yeah, I've got nothing.
  7. I can only guess the people who can stand to listen to that guy are ones with kids of the right age who have to listen to social media influencers on *Insert Latest Popular Streaming/Social Site or App* non stop whenever they get screen time. Or are young enough to have grown up watching the same kind of thing. So they have reduced sensitivity to watching poorly made videos online of people who are annoying as fuck. Later, time to go yell at the sky.
  8. I couldn't make it past him 'making fun of' the RS and Evo owners, supper grating. Anything good past there or does he just always act like someone I'd actively avoid spending any time around?
  9. I got it from the Performance Jeep in Delaware so I was thinking to take it back there, am talking to them. That engine story doesn't make give me high confidence. But really just kind of confirms what my feeling about dealer service centers are right now.
  10. Update, still need a good (Jeep dealer service) shop. The one I had it in most recently is NOT working out.
  11. I've had a kind of idea of a fun/small relatively inexpensive RWD sportyish car as a DD bouncing around in my head occasionally. Get one that's in just alright condition so it's OK to drive in the winter. Add snow tires and it would decimate all at racewarz. The BRZ/FRS/86 is one that popped into my head. I hadn't looked before, so this made me curious again. Of the 944 on Autotrader I think 3 are less than $10k (fake, stolen or beyond beat?) and it seems like they realistically start at ~$12k. Thanks covid-parts shortage-flation.
  12. I can't figure out which one is worse, gated automatic shifters or the monostable dildo in the Jeep, also BMW and I'm sure others. The gated automatic shifter definitely functions better, but an automatic trying to look like a Ferrari manual transmission is pretty lame.
  13. Sheetz 88 octane is E15, stupidhead
  14. From a quick search it looks like it's 5-10cents cheaper than 87, which is really the only thing anyone should cross shop or sub this for. So more like $0.50-$1/tank.... unless you drive a tank like an f-tenthousand with the 36 gallon tank, then maybe $1-$2. Honestly it's probably a wash vs 87 E10. Maybe a little worse FE vs 87, but cheaper, so you'll spend less but burn more. But little enough on both ends that you'd have to do an instrumented EPA style dyno test to see the differences. It's just marketing to get people in the door with the cheaper price on the sign and buy more of their fast food... which I'm all good with since it's delicious.
  15. Wouldn't you get worse fuel economy as the E% goes up?
  16. I don't know how to answer a question that I don't understand because there are 'words' I might only be able to find on Urban Dictionary. But also I'm pretty sure I already said I don't want any pick-um-ups. I definitely don't want a full sized truck which I think is needed for it to be in the 'good old' category. I did also mention the idea of the ZR2 but no one picked up on it, said anything either way about it. It seems like a legit competitor to the TRD Taco without the ultra inflated prices.
  17. Well, that's pretty telling when 2 people suggest an old clapped out Tracker and an Xterra and the Xterra is the one that get's shot down.
  18. Just saw a pretty big selling point for me for the GX, 40/20/40 2nd row. The 4Runner only has it with 2 row, but the limited trim is 3 row only. 3 row 4Runners 2nd row is 50/50 or 60/40 split. Went on a day ski trip last winter that was supposed to be 3 people but changed to 4 and we couldn't take the Jeep due to 40/60 split and all of the gear. We could have still taken the Jeep if it was 40/20/40. I felt bad that another person on the trip that puts way more miles on their truck than I normally do on my Jeep had to end up driving. Probably not a big deal for most, but I think it will be a useful feature for me.
  19. I talked to two people on here/formerly on here with GXs quite a bit on FB yesterday and I'm heavily leaning towards GX now. One of them said he was dead set on a 4Runner, happened to drive a GX while he was at a dealer and bought it instead. I'll still go check out/drive both, but with similar prices the GX seems like the winner.
  20. Ok, back to the topic at hand...I'll tell the story of the Jeep when it's 'over'. Lexus GX and 4Runner Limited under 100kmi and under $35k within 100miles. No really specific reason as we go down that rabbit hole, especially the 100mi limit. I went to Toledo to look at the first GC I drove but didn't buy due to cigarette smoke and otherwise not great condition, which is more than 100mi away. Any thoughts on any of these? It feels like there prices are similar on similar year/mileage, but maybe also similar size/feature set. The GX gets V8 noises and 6AT (4Runner 5AT), and increased towing capacity. It also has optional rear air sus (just bags) which is a nice feature if towing. In reality the 4Runner is a 'lil' bit big' V6 (4.0L) and the GX a 'kinda' small' V8 (4.6L) so the displacement is only ~15% higher on the GX, power ~10% higher and TQ ~20% higher but the GX also weighs more so real world performance is probably pretty close. The 4Runner might have more interior space/volume, higher base ground clearance, slightly higher approach/departure angles (rear on the GX is higher w/air sus & high setting), and the rear window. Really I just need to go drive a few of each kind.
