Why not sell this truck for $600, recoup your money and use it plus some if needed to buy what you originally intended to?

IDK how much time you have until you move, but have you tried to do the plenum gasket and see how much oil it burns then? I know that doesn't fix the compression issue, but maybe it will make the oil burning low enough that you would feel comfortable with driving it down to Texas.

Watched it on my phone so it was hard to tell, but was it off when they went down there? Yes, the safety of the rescurer is first. But i would have thought they could have done something. If I were in their shoes, I didnt go down there out of concern for my safety and that guy burned badly I would have a rough time with that. At some point there is some inherent risk with the job and that idea starts to go away. The rescurer has to purpousfuly go in harms way sometimes. Thats part of the job.

I'm thinking that now. Probably just, literally, a poor guy who can't afford a car riding to work trying to make a living. Still a bad and illegal decision to ride on the highway.

This is the method I've found works best, it's similar to Doc's method for the carpet. 1) Shave with a body groomer on about a #1 everywhere 2) Put strips of duct tape down in lines 3) Shave everywhere 4) Remove duct tape 5) Make sure you did the lines vertical due to enhanced optical illusions vertical lines can have If you have enough body hair you can do this everywhere. I once did a baseball field pattern, that took a long time.
