They come in both coupe and convertible. Also, the variable valve timing they have on this engine is pretty trick.

I'll be there at the end of November...for one night. Then it's off to northern Finland for me! YAY! (not really that happy about it)

Do you have a vacuum line off your manifold for the brake booster? Splice into that for your boost gauge, but make sure you do it before any check valves that could be in the line. The EGT should be off a single runner, about 2" from the head and on the outside radius (if it's curved there). If a cylinder is known to run hotter, use that. Wideband is like all the others said. You could always run one sensor in each bank.

The STS-V has a 469 HP S/C Northstar V8, so it could have been that too. Or there are plenty of fast Grand Prix's out there.

You don't know how true that is. -

Calm down. DSG. And Eric, why does it have to be exotic? The last one was only 'exotic' in the US. Ben, why shouldn't it have a back seat? The 911 has a back seat, the non-GTR Skyline has them... -
CTS4 just means it's the AWD version.

Uhh, the V6 CTS is 300 HP. Not sure what Thorne has done to his WRX, but my guess is it would keep within "a couple of cars." The new CTS's are PIMP. I want one.

Jeff Gordon was also offered a shot at F1 just as his NASCAR career was taking off. The problem was, the team wanted to put him in F3000 with the possibility of moving up. Gordon was making millions in NASCAR so it wasn't a tough decision.

Tony Kannan does triathalon's in order to train for racing. Racing at the top level is extremely physical. There's also a 5th Gear video of Tiff going through F1 drivers training.

IJ may be one step below colorless, but it's nowhere near a good rating. http://www.bluenile.com/diamond_clarity.asp?track=clarity_pop

There is currently no standalone ECU that can deal with direct injection. It's no biggie, everyone will be dealing with it soon enough. There are plenty of companies already dealing with it on Audi/VW spplications.

I don't know how you can say that when the US dollar is trading at a near all time low againt the Euro. http://finance.yahoo.com/charts#chart1:symbol=usdeur=x;range=5y;charttype=line;crosshair=on;logscale=on;source=undefined

Not really. When you produce a car and want to include a 100k mile warrenty on the powertrain you will do everything you can to make sure it does not operate outside of the intended conditions. Especially when turbo cars are often easily modified by people that have no idea what they're doing, and can easily change it back to stock for a trip to the dealer.

It's MAF and MAP together. You're not going to be modifying fuel pressure. It runs a peak of over 2100 psi in the rail and is a cam driven fuel pump. It's not meaqsuring everything off of A/F ratio. It's calculating torque from airflow. The WB 02 just makes sure it's always hitting it's target and will correct the fuel trims in order to ensure it does. But after the fuel trims correct so much it will throuw a code. Closed loop WB 02 is a wonderful thing, it's nothing to be scared of. You just need control of the ECU to realize major gains due to all the other calculations going on. Tuning the engine can be as simple as doing your mods, making some pulls and allow the ECU to learn new fuel trims, correct some tables to reflect what the ECU has just learned, repeat until your fuel trims are perfect.

It's probably the most advanced ECU on the market right now. It's a Bosch unit and the situations that cause it to pull boost can be hard to pin point. Basically, let's put it this way; there are a bunch of sensors on the car that read the amount of air, the temperature before and after the intercooler, the amount of boost, etc. It takes all the airflow signals coming in and calculates torque. If any of those sensors reads too high and the ECU calculates the car is producing too much torque it will pull torque back down to the level. The wastegate is electronically controlled and has a learn function. So you may see a jump in power on the first, second, and third dyno pull after a mod, but the ECU will eventually adjust for it and bring power back down to near stock levels. Now, if your thinking of tricking the ecu by faking sensor outputs you may have some trouble. You will go into limp mode if all the sensors don't line up and since it runs closed loop WB 02 under nearly all conditions it will also see the increased airflow through the resulting increase in fuel trims. I'm not saying it can't be done, but you would be playing in a small band. Direct injection is a wonderful thing. But for "tuners" it makes the job A LOT harder. Plus, you have to be careful who tunes the engine because it's not the usual "add a ton of fuel and it's safe" mantra that some live by. You can ruin your engine quick.

It's a hoax. They made a parody and posted it on a web site, the "news" sites saw the headline's and ran with it.

HAHAHAHA!!!!!!!! Nick, you have no idea. The bottom line is, with supporting mods (exhaust, intercooler) that car is at barely over stock power, maybe 270-280 HP. But the ECU will limit the power the car puts out by pulling boost (complex torque modeling inside the ECU that you can't get around without acking the computer). With a reflash it could be in the 300-330 HP range. But that's with the tiny stock turbo putting out 22 psi (out of its efficiency range). Direct injection does put off a fair amount of soot from the tail pipe, but nothing like you described. If the car is running that rich he's probably washing the cylinder walls with fuel and ruining his engine. (already happened to a few people).

Watch Ghost Hunters on Sci Fi channel. Some of those episodes will freak the hell out of you. Also, I did a night time tour of the old jail in Charleston, SC. I didn't see anything, but later I was talking to our guide and he had a pretty convincing story from a few weeks before.
-
There's only two possible reflashes to the computer that would give it more power. Still, that only puts it at about 300 HP.

I got a little better pic tonight, but my camera's not so good in the dark. It's too bad I don't see them out much durning the day. Can anyone identify it yet? http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h92/mallard1055/Spider2.jpg

HUH? A dollar is a dollar, so unless our government converted a bunch of cash to Euro a while ago there's no way that's making the debt lower. Plus, our debt accumulates interest, just like anything else. The value of the dollar was dropping long before the fed rate cut. The national debt is now $9 trillion. http://mwhodges.home.att.net/federal-debt-dollars.gif http://home.att.net/~mwhodges/debt.gif http://home.att.net/~mwhodges/debt-foreign-share.gif http://mwhodges.home.att.net/fedcomp.gif http://mwhodges.home.att.net/interest.gif
