It's not the money you have, but the money you could borrow. Identity theft is a big problem and and can really screw up your credit for years to come.

Vehicle Test Engineer. On the fun days I get to drive the piss out of cars long before they hit dealerships.

I think he was refering to the NASA HPDE program. It's a good way to get started open lapping. Welcome.

No, you pay to become part of a franchise and you sell goods and services to customers. In this thing you're not selling anything, you're not providing a service, you're just trying to recruit people with the promise of never working a day in their life so you can make money off them. I've had a couple friends in it. They talk big around you about how much money they make, how they're going to retire soon, etc. But in reality they're still living at their parents house, driving a Tercel, and losing every friend they ever had becase "the Team" is all they ever talk to you about. I don't know about you, but I will make my money legitimately without losing all my friends in the process. You can traw it any way you want; | |____ |_______ |__________ or ....................| ...........____________ ......._________________ ...._____________________ It's still a pyramid.

http://www.break.com/index/dude-body-slammed-by-tube.html You don't have to nose over to get wrecked either. I caught a crosswind when I was only ~5 feet up and it went sideways, throwing me head first into the water. (I actually thought I saved myself at first, but it hit the water mostly on the left side, bounced of the water and rolled over.) I had a huge headache and my neck hurt for over a week. The weekend after that the guy who owned the boat had some co-workers out with him. One of the guys got hurt pretty bad. He was knocked unconcious, lost some teeth, and went into a seizure on the boat. They took him to the hospital and I think he's fine now, but he had no short term memory for about a week. He would come over to my friends desk and have a conversation. Five minutes later he'd come back and ask all the same questions with no recollection of the previous talk. I'll never do it again, that's for sure.

You mean it looks like a pyramid? Or maybe a cone if it's in 3-D.

I got hooked on him about 3 years ago. Hilarious.

It's not cold there in the summer. They have 24 hours of daylight at times, the black flies can get really bad, there are wildfires, and some places can get to 90-100 degrees. Go to Denali National Park, I heard Valdez was cool, and Anchorage lloked ok in the winter, although I only flew through there.

HAHA, you're just like Paris Hilton!

Somebody was watching Dodgeball... I think you guys are going a little hard on him. I don't think the car is that bad and it has potential. Not sure why it would be as you're saying it is...you must be running low boost. A turbo 2.0L with a built motor should be able to put down some good numbers.

There are 2.0t's and 2.0T's. There is a difference. The T's came with a larger turbo and the 210 HP, among other things.

+1 There are lots of people out there that have no idea how bad it will save your ass. Whether you think you know how to drive is not important, the system can do things no driver can recover from. Most of you would be amazed at the speeds I have driven through certain road conditions and been perfectly comfortable. Some people hear it kick on once and they immediately hate it, but it most likely just kept you on the road. One of my favorite stories is from a road ride in Sweden (that I was not on, this is second hand) where an executive was driving over 100 mph on an ice covered road and complained that he was getting ESC activations. He thought the system was too sensitive. He stopped the car, got out, and fell on his ass because the road was so slick.

+1, sounds like caliper roll back to me too. Does this happen after cornering? http://www.stoptech.com/tech_info/wp_knockback.shtml

Nope. The current Opel GT is the Saturn Sky Redline. The Opel Speedster was built by Lotus. Speedster http://autoimage.autoweb.cz/opel/Opel_Speedster_Turbo_2003_008.jpg

E-85 is already a mixture of gasoline and Ethanol...85%. Everything else at the pump is E-10.

Well the concept he speaks of is true. There is a guy in France that builds "air-powered" cars. It's the dumbest idea ever. Instead of the piston being driven by the expanding gasses of combustion, it's pushed down by compressed air. However, you constantly lose pressure when it's running, thus losing power. Also, you have to use a compressor to compress the air and store it in the car. The compressor would run on electricity or gasoline.
-
You're both wrong. The Opel Speedster was built off the old Elise platform. The Solstice/Sky/Opel GT/Daewoo whatever are off GM's "Kappa" platform. It's an all new construction that most resembles the Corvette when you peel the skin away. TripleThreat - Not sure about that one. The Ecotec seems to resemble Saab's more than anything IMO. I'm pretty sure it wasn't designed by Lotus, but I can't say that with any authority.

Ummm...no. The turbocharger was chosen for a variety of reasons and was co-developed around the world with Saab in Sweden and somewhere in France or Italy (can't remember exactly which division it was). The 2.0L Turbo in the GXP/Redline is a completely different engine than the 2.0L S/C in the Cobalt SS/Ion Redline. About the only thing they have in common is the block casting. A S/C from the Cobalt/Ion would not work in the Sky/Solsitce because the throttle body would be through the firewall (or righ against it).

You don't see any other company offering them do you? GM was alone on that one and took a financial bath on the project. You can look at it now and say that it would be cool if they had continued to offer them in the light of the current fuel prices, the Tesla Roadster, and fuel economy standards. But at the time large groups of people didn't care about it. Everyone was buying up large SUV's because they were cool and gas was cheap. Why would you want an electric car that could only go ~120 miles on a charge, take 8 hours to recharge fully, and whose range would diminish in colder weather when gas is $1.00 a gallon? That movie was made by people that are 'green' fanatics who feel big industry is hiding some majic technology that would solve all the worlds energy problems. While some things may be true in the movie, there's also much that is stretched.
