I didn't think it was funny then, and I dont think it's funny now. Did you see how he went off on the NBC reporter who asked "what do you say to the American people who are scared right now?" It was a softball question where he had free reign to speak to the people with some gold plated bullshit meant to make people feel at ease. Instead he went off on him and the media. He's also a total hypocrite. He went off on Obama for golfing, taking vacations, "always campaigning," ebola, and the flu among other things, but in every category Trump's worse. He took office with the mission of dismantling big government, and in the process got rid of the team meant to deal with pandemics because he thought it was a waste. Keep in mind that this team was shaped by learnings from Ebola and swine flu, and all that was lost. He acknowledged getting rid of this team in February by saying he did it to save money, he didn't see the value in it. When asked in March, he claimed to know nothing about it and said he takes no responsibility. Decisions were left to man that believes vaccines cause autism, and was more focused on "keeping his numbers low," even if that meant leaving a cruise ship full of Americans adrift in the Pacific with no possible treatment. He fucked this up. He needs to own it. Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk

Actually, when he kept talking about this at the press conference Dr. Fauci had contracted Trump by saying that there needed to be trails to see if it would work and if it's safe. He was exercising caution, but Trump was already talking about it like it's a cure. Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk

Our production is shut down and won't be back for some time. I said early in this thread that the impact of this will delay new model launches, but now it could cancel some plans entirely. Ford just took out a ~$16 billion line of credit. Everyone's making plans on how to save capital. It's going to take a while to get back to normal. NPR Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk

All the auto companies are, but GM is right there with Tesla in % loss today. I've been watching Disney and waiting for a good time to buy. It seemed they had support around 92, but busted way through that today. Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk

Personally, I think airlines and cruise lines could be bankrupt by May and I wouldn't touch them, but I haven't heavily researched their financials and how each is restructuring to respond to this crisis, so there may be a diamond in the rough somewhere. I have been watching Disney though, since they're large enough to weather the storm and have revenue streams that aren't tied to tourism. The auto companies and suppliers will take a major hit, so I'd stay away from them too. Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk

Let's hope that drug is effective (and cheap to produce/distribute) because this thread doesn't make the next 18 months sound promising. Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk

Skype always lagged for us at work. The best thing we ever did is switch to Google Hangouts. Pretty sure it's free for anyone with a Google account, and I think you have an option to record the session (corporate took that away from us). Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk

Kansas just cancelled schools for the rest of the school year. If we do that I might go mad. Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk

GM employee tested positive. Part of the Tech Center in Warren, MI is now closed completely. Many were working from home already. The UAW has been talking about walking off the job, but I don't think anything has happened yet. Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk

Michigan closed everything, starting at 3PM today. All restaurants, cafes, coffee houses, bars, taverns, brewpubs, distilleries, clubs, movie theaters, indoor and outdoor performance venues, gymnasiums, fitness centers, recreation centers, indoor sports facilities, indoor exercise facilities, exercise studios, spas and casinos must close by 3PM. Take out, drive up, walk up services are ok. Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk

I said at least a week ago that this will probably delay several model launches. This is not going to be good and the effects will be long term. Also, to the people that still think it's an over reaction, I think this summed it up pretty well. https://www.businessinsider.com/we-have-to-stop-comparing-the-coronavirus-to-the-flu-2020-3 Today it looks like Italy may stop treating people over 80 as part of their triage. https://www.vice.com/en_us/article/5dmqxb/italy-may-soon-be-forced-to-stop-treating-coronavirus-patients-over-80 Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk

I am not panicking, I'm being realistic about where this is headed. The words disaster were not mine, they were from the doctors on the statewide call. The reason they said this is they are short on supplies to deal with the influx of patients because 1) this has already been a very busy flu season up here with hospitals already closing to visitors at times before this came about, and 2) everyone with the sniffles wants to come in for a test, so for better or worse theres a surge of people coming in. I wouldn't really call it a cold with a name, I'd say it's pneumonia that's spreading easily and can affect people with varying severity. Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk

The outbreak in Italy is isolated to the north, for now. In the US it's already all over the place. The supply shortage is still very real in the US. My coworker's dad is a doctor in a decent sized hospital in Michigan. Yesterday they said they only had 8 hazmat suits and were already running out of masks. I've talked to others who are on statewide calls with health services and they say it's a already a disaster, and this is with only 26 confirmed cases for now. Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk

This is what was happening in Italy 2 days ago. Yesterday they had an additional 250 deaths. The US is about 11 days behind their infection rate, and this is why the action taken was necessary. https://www.nytimes.com/2020/03/12/world/europe/12italy-coronavirus-health-care.amp.html%3f0p19G=3248 This chart is already several days old though: Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk

I work in a building with over 14,000 people. They are doing massive cleaning efforts 3x a day (but I'm not sure how they're going to keep up with it), work from home is more flexible (not mandatory yet...over 90% of our colleagues in Italy are WFH), all visitors to buildings and proving grounds require approval from a VP, all meetings over 20 people are web only, cafeteria has no self-service food anymore, only pre packaged. School just got canceled for 3 weeks, starting Mon, and the following week is spring break. With my kids home for 4 weeks my wife and I will be at least alternating WFH. I believe this 100%. My wife and I both had pneumonia in Nov/Dec. She got it worse than I did (pleurisy), but she would still get short of breath 6+ weeks later. Some people still feel the effects for 6 months. I'll echo what Greg said, but also say that this completely overwhelmed China's health care system before any mainstream media was reporting on it. Italy is completely overwhelmed now and it's for many that actually need medical attention, not people who want to steal gloves and masks. I work for Fiat Chrysler, and obviously work with people in Italy. Everything is on lockdown. The response in the US compared to other countries is minimal, but the economic effects are going to be huge globally. Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk
