    Those prices are for the whole bird, quartered if you like. Yes it has bones in. If you want boneless chicken breasts you will have to order in advance, come out to my house and pick them up as that is processed meat and your government has strict rules about that. It will add $1/lb. The reason for pre-order is that I am selling you a live chicken and killing/cutting it for you.

     

    RS69 - I would love to get some Californian bucks.

     

    We are expecting some new Dutches next week. Let me check with the wife to see when our next Californian's are due.

    Who are you going to have butcher your stock?

     

    We can talk offline/pm about rabbits, my wife is pretty involved in the rabbits. We presently have 10 rabbits as our breeding stock and can provide some assistance to you if needed. I had rabbits back when I was in 4H, now is my kids turn. We just sold 12 Californians last month to a local butcher. We buy a quarter of beef from a nearby family and they have have a butcher in Danville. We take our rabbits to a butcher in Newark.

    I spoke to Kevin(my brother) and here is the skinny. Starting in 84, the 911 had the better Bosch ignition which is more dependable and has better performance. He thought the 84 had around 217 horsepower(3.2). In 87, the next big improvements include the G50 transmission(better manual), bigger clutch and higher horsepower ~ 221hp. I dont know if that is from the 3.2 or the 3.6. I forgot to ask.

     

    Concerning his rebuild, he had to rebuild his top end because he over rev'd the engine coming home from work and bent an exhaust valve. He said it is not uncommon to do. The rev limit is a spring based type. Concerning his rebuild, I was off base on this, he rebuilt the top end and and replaced exhaust valves/guides etc. Ed Pimm did the machine work. My brother did the rebuild and his cost for the machine work and parts total around 3K for this.

     

    I can tell you his 911 is one beautiful car. I know you dont like verts, but his a vert and he built a roll cage(that he can easily remove), lowered it and polished his wheels. He has his 911 set presently for getting his NASA license, so built a couple of grap hooks on the car too.

     

    Overall, he said that the 84 and newer 911's are great machines. If you have any more questions, let me know and I can hook you up with him.

    What do you want to know? My brother has a 87 911 for about 15 years now. He rebuilt the engine at 100K and it wasnt too hard to do. Parts are a little more expensive. I believe he had around 6K(added headers and some other HP stuff) in it, and did all of the labor except for the machine shop stuff. There is a guy(I cant remember his name presently) over by Plain City that has a shop at this house that restores Porsches/Ferraris who did my brother's machine work. He is very well known in the Porsche community and very reasonable for parts and service.

     

    Let me know which year/model and I can talk to brother or give you his number/email if you would want to discuss with him. My brother is very knowledge about Porsches by either wrenching or racing. His friend is racing his 944 in NASA and my brother is his wrench. All I remember is starting in 86 there were alot of improvements in the 911 engine/transmission. I love Porsches too, but my wife doesnt like them, so we have corvettes. Based on what you have done to your old Z06, the 80's Porsche's will be something simple for you to wrench.

  5. Welcome to the club, once you get older other things are more importance. Dont get me wrong, I still like automobiles/bikes etc, there is always something faster, nicer etc. About the deep pockets, I agree if you dont do your own work it can be very expensive. You get to a point to enjoy what you have. If it stinks you off, put it in the garage and dont mess with it for a few days. After a few days, you go back out to work on your project in a refreshed state.
  6. Excellent thread Clay, where do you want to start? For starters, I still own my 79 Cutlass Supreme which I bought in 1986 and in 1988 put a 350 in it. The Cutlass has over 185,000 hard miles on it. In 1992, I purchased my first Ford product, a new 92 Mustang which I still own. The list goes on for the 69 Chevelle, 78 Z-28, etc.
