  1. Thanks! I put about $100 in new parts on order, all should be delivered by this weekend; new firing pin and extractor, new mag release, new bolt release, and slightly longer charge handle. Nothing fancy or flashy, just stuff I read that makes it more reliable, less picky about ammo, and more convenient. Although I like the expensive suggestions here. Maybe I'll give this one to the fiancee and build a ridiculous one for myself. I can see this becoming an expensive problem.
  2. GTI is more refined and faster than an ST but somehow I find the ST more fun. Probably because it's childish and wants to be hooned and treated like a 17 year old treats a car.
  3. Just picked up a basic 10/22 from a friend for dirt cheap, it's got an optic rail on it and not much else. I know these are ubiquitous and there's a billion parts for them, any "must fix" mods to start with? I had no purpose in mind when I bought this, more like "I've already got .22lr in the house and this price is stupid cheap, why not?" but I'm not planning to make this tacticool or anything. Just want cheap accurate reliable fun.
  4. No idea if the current version of Winamp is anything like the old one, but the old one was the perfect mp3 program.
  5. Wow, Rice Paddy had a similar priced one in their clearance sale but higher miles and worse condition. If I hadn't just bought $300 in parts for my fiancee's '93 Virago I'd buy this in a heartbeat.
  6. I bought a polymer Sig and hated it. Shot a friend's steel one and it was great but didn't feel right in my hand. Would definitely recommend it to someone who liked the feel.
  7. See my recommendation for Harold Davis. Believe he has a background (if not a degree) in graphic design. He's a great guy.
  8. Better looking with a manual transmission!
  9. goddamnit i just bought something like this a month ago. Solid price.
  10. Kevin Rutter - CertaPro Painters. Krutter@certapro.com, 614-799-8016 is his cell. Tell him Alex sent you. If you need anything done in terms of interior work (kitchens, bathrooms, basements) call Harold Davis aka Creative Services LTD. He might be able to do the paver patio but it's not his wheelhouse and he'd usually refer that out. He's hdavis@creativeservicesltd.com, 614-554-4477. Same as before, tell him Alex sent you.
  11. Chances are your only option without coordinating with the titled owner(s) is file for abandoned title.
  12. I received a pair of Frye boots for Xmas a couple years ago. Far and away the most comfortable boots I've owned. Definitely on the fashion side of style vs utility, but still very durable, good quality leather and build. Very expensive, but very very nice.
  13. You read my goals quite well. I'm not hung up on what category my bike falls into, I don't give a shit what anyone else thinks about my bike. I want it to be 3 things: fun to ride, comfortable to ride, and cool to look at. Right now it's barely comfortable to ride, not really fun (mine has the stock apes with oversized heated grips) and it's a bit typically teutonic to look at. I hadn't thought about getting a second subframe to hack apart, that's not a bad idea but they only ever made 40k of these bikes so parts could be hard to come by. My first step is going to be removing the rear fender and actually seeing how much rear subframe it is and what can be unbolted vs chopped. http://www.2wheelsmiklos.com/bmw-r1200c-custom There's another example of one that interests me. I like that they retained the original gauge cluster and rear fender mount. It's not exactly what I'd do for the tail, but I like the execution and I would consider a version of that to be closer to my goals than the totally bobbed examples in my OP. The tail mount in this link is a chromed version of the stock one that I have on my bike. I like that they repurposed it to be a soft bag mount on one side, but to me it hangs out just a little too far. Also I really don't like that exhaust.
  14. After trying to sell/trade my BMW R1200C last year, after trying to turn it into more of a touring bike than a cruiser, and failing at both, I'm going to try to turn my bike into something it's not...again. This time I'm looking towards the bobber/cafe style look. It's a weird bike for any who don't know it, and it definitely doesn't fit the normal style of either. The following links, along with various google searches for "Custom R1200C" have led me down a very strange path, but this bike was a gift from my uncle who recently died and I want this to be something done in his memory. He's the kinda weirdo who'd appreciate it. https://www.roa-motorcycles.com/copia-de-bmw-r80-ing https://www.roa-motorcycles.com/copia-de-bmw-r1200c-2 I'll first say that I'm not gonna disassemble my bike and color match everything, nor am I going to suede-wrap the trim pieces like those examples. I cite those because I really like the license plate arm design and want to incorporate taillights/indicators to that. Still, those little touches can be long term plans. At this time I want to get an idea of what it'll take to get the rear end looking like I want it. Anyone recommend a good metal fabricator who can do something like that without costing an arm and a leg? I realize money buys quality.
  15. Not enough of an SKS expert to tell by the looks, but is that one that will accept AK mags?
  16. See what you can get on KBB cash offer as a baseline. Then see if the private sale market is measurably higher/worth the effort.
  17. If you'll sell the mouse separately PM me. I have a SP4, lower spec and I wish I'd bought this version. Still, SP4 is a hell of a device. I've used mine daily as a business device for 2 years and aside from a Windows update that went sideways on me (my fault) it has been flawless. Which is surprising considering I've got an i5/4GB/128SSD (with 128microSD backup) so I'm basically using 60-80% memory all the time.
  18. The auction savings are rarely as dramatic as anyone imagines, and the cars are usually in worse shape. Not to mention you don't get the chance to try them out first.
  19. Not willing to part with mine but you can find old Dan Wesson Model 14/15s for pretty cheap. Definitely not as cheap as these prices though!
