  1. I disagree. The last thing you want to do is leave a mess in probate because you were too cheap to pay a real attorney with real experience to do the job right the first time. It's not about just having a will, it's about having a document/directive for surviving relatives that prevents as much conflict as possible. Self-styled legal documents can be more harmful than helpful.
  2. Phil Gauer. He's a client of mine, solo practice, and total motorcycle nerd. Rides a Bonneville IIRC. Doesn't live extravagantly so I don't know his pricing but I know it'll be modest. http://philipgauerlaw.com/
  3. James is a personal friend and a top notch guy. He's ASHI Certified, which means he actually took a supervised exam rather than a DIY-at-home exam which is required for the other cert that most people get. IIRC he said he's one of 17 in the state to pass this exam. As with the couple people in this thread, anyone who's used him once can't conceive of using someone else.
  4. Now that the Holden Commodore is no longer made even in Australia, this actually might appreciate in value someday.
  5. That new Gwagen of his is something else.
  6. IMO there's zero chance PSV owns the Crew past 2019. He's having to come back to the Crew hat in hand looking for assistance. He had his eyes on a single spot in a single city and now that he's not getting his way, he's bailing. I thought he was a shrewd businessman when he got Hunt to sell the team for basically nothing and got the contract that allowed him to do this, but by not negotiating in good faith with Cbus this whole time he completely screwed himself. If he had, it'd simply be a matter of accepting what one would assume is an aggressive bid by Cbus that'd be on his table by now. Instead, there's no plan for him to accept and he's coming to ask for one. I hope the Columbus Partnership puts the screws to him and he has to sell for pennies on the dollar. It won't happen, but I hope it does. I sent in letters of support to the Austin TX city council for not just dropping trou and allowing him to dictate the plan, hopefully they stay strong and the team, without PSV, stays in Cbus.
  7. Ass end of the Stinger reminds me of the Accord Crosstour in profile. I hate it. Otherwise I love the idea and looks of the car from most other angles.
  8. And after all this, I find out my company has been acquired and I get to learn a whole new health plan. Sigh.
  9. Man, y'all are inferring a LOT about my conversations with my medical provider. I worked in car sales, I ALWAYS ask about costs. However, most staff are not well versed in billing or pricing and instead of "let me get you an answer about that" the reply was "oh these tests are pretty cheap and we do everything we can to reduce the number of them. We do 8 at first and then if there are more needed, we go forward with that." I expected there to be a bill based on that. The 8 tests the nurse claimed were cheap were $13/each. Not bad. Except it wasn't 8 tests, it was 64 of them. That's a difference of over $700. They were unwilling to write off the difference (which I asked for in my conversation with them) because they provided the services. I was at the office for 5 hours doing those tests. I have a pretty flexible work schedule, but there's shit i have to get done and I don't have hours to sit down with a billing expert and discuss an itemized estimate of the services the Dr. would like to provide me. Kirk, when I ask for a quote from an auto shop, they provide me with the parts and prices, and their diagnostics are usually pretty cheap unless they're doing an engine teardown to diagnose. I get that healthcare is orders of magnitude more complicated, but I am not cheap when it comes to my health. I simply don't like being misled, and it's IMO reasonable to expect that anyone engaging in a conversation regarding the costs of healthcare should be well versed enough to speak authoritatively or knowledgeable enough to punt that conversation to someone more appropriate. That's what my gripe is; that the financial side of healthcare requires a goddamn MBA to effectively understand, and that it is a FOR-PROFIT enterprise. I don't mind profit, but if you're going to profit you have a duty to be at least somewhat transparent and accountable.
  10. For the past week and a half I've been dealing with bronchitis. Fam has all had that or pneumonia this year so far. I feel "lucky" to have only gotten the bad cough.
  11. Yep, Dr Abner Bagenstose. And you were spot on with your guess. 8 tests, each of which has 8 "scratches" per test, so 64 total tests. Fair enough. I still think the way we hide the costs of healthcare in this country are ridiculous, if I'd known how much of this my insurance wouldn't cover, I would've just dealt with a chronic sinus infection and gone on with my life.
  12. Send me a PM tonight to remind me and i'll check. I have a couple really old towers in my basement but I can't remember if they're AMD or Intel.
  13. This is what I figure will end up happening, and right around the same amounts.
  14. I have a fairly specific question, I don't mind exposing some of my medical history here. The short of it is that a few months ago I went to Ohio ENT to test for allergies because of a recent (last 2 years) uptick in sinus-related illnesses. They 8 initial tests, then 21 follow up based on the 8 initial ones they did. I recently got a bill for the balance of what my insurance didn't cover. On the bill, CPT Code #95024, "Intracutanous tests with allergenic extracts, immediate type reaction, including test interpretation and report by a physician, specify number of tests" shows a 21 units administered. No issue there. However, CPT Code #95004, "Percutanous tests with allergenic extracts, immediate type reaction, including test interpretation and report by a physician, specify number of tests" shows 64 units administered. They only pricked me 8 times initially, anyone familiar with this and why it shows 64 aka 8x8? I want to contest this portion of the bill because it is by far the most costly, but I don't know enough about these tests to stand on solid ground. My google-fu has failed me so far. Am I way off base here?
  15. That's sorta the logic I followed, I'm surprised more modern engines don't mandate changes seasonally as well as miles depending on location.
  16. I always heard using a slightly lower viscosity oil is good in winter if you're actually gonna drive the car, not sure if that's just an old wives tale.
  17. My buddy who got me the poster comes from an Isles family. His dad's got a signed Mike Bossy jersey on his wall. Always loved that one.
  18. I don't even know you or your kid but goddamn he wins Xmas. Find a way to program the car horn to play Mario sounds. I got an Apple Watch, NSA (Amazon) Echo (which I've already changed from responding to Alexa to "computer" so I can roam the house shouting like Captain Picard), a vintage style Hartford Whalers poster from their last home game which my parents attended, some super nice new hockey gloves, and a metric fuckton of nice socks (i turned 30 this year, apparently the age at which socks are the most exciting gift you receive)
  19. Not trolling, looking for legit feedback. Aside from the raw Android experience, is there anything the Pixel does better than an LG G or Samsung S phone? I really wanted to like the Pixel and subsequently Pixel 2 but it always felt like last year's tech.
  20. switched from Samsung to iPhone8+ and have enjoyed it. Best battery life I've ever had on a phone. I'm sure the Samsung and LG phones are also excellent, but I didn't like them as much. inb4 intentional performance fuckery meme
  21. You'd be amazed how much CA changes when you get out of the Bay and LA. If you find yourself in Bakersfield you'd wonder if you were in Oklahoma at times; oil pumps and agriculture as far as the eye can see.
  22. (sad trombone) https://appgateway.drc.ohio.gov/OffenderSearch/Search/Details/A723674?Enc=%7Callen%7Cmatthew%7C%7C%7C%7CAll%7C%7CName%7C1%7C10%7C
  23. It's called anchoring. Doesn't matter if it only sold for a fraction of that years ago, if you price it stupid high, people still need to negotiate "down" from that number.
  24. Plenty of places that should go for more. For it to be the most expensive, it has to actually sell. I could list my house for $1.1bn right now if I wanted to.
  25. I don't believe the cuts are empirically fair to Americans who need the most assistance. I do, however, believe that perception trumps fact in many cases, and if people PERCEIVE that these cuts are good for America, consumer confidence improves which will improve overall welfare. I don't think the consequences will be positive in the long run, but people's memories are short and our education system is pretty awful so the short term "success" and positive effects will be attributed to those who deserve little to no credit, and the long term consequences will be pinned on snowflake millennials who everyone thinks demand all the entitlements in the world.
