  1. ""He who climbs Fuji-san once is a wise man, he who climbs it twice is a fool." Fuji-chan is on the list, twice.
  2. Thanks for the bump. Did they let you guys top out on Fuji? That's a grueling mountain, you start so close to sea level. It's allot like our Rainier.
  3. Beleive me, I'm familiar. If you ever feel like napping outside on a record breaking night, these are the footies for you. These boots are probably the most popular that you'll find on Denali/McKinley climbs, the coldest recorded/extrapolated temp there to date is -148*F. It probably gets colder, but no one is there to record it, or lives to tell about it. Goretext isn't an insulator, so much as it is a tough means of stopping wind. If it weren't for the abraisive nature of climbing, these wouldn't need the Gore Tex at all.
  4. Nope, way off. -10 is pussy Ohio weather anyways. Gore Tex is but a single layer in the whole system that is these boots. Hell, My columbia winter hiking books have kept my feet warm in wind chills of -50*, these boots kick their ass, yours just suck. These boots are made for the coldest places in the world. Beck Weathers is a name to look up. Left for dead twice on Mt Everest, he spent a night totaly exposed and unconsious. He lost his hands and most of his face to frostbite, his feet remained in pristene condition in these boots. Opening bid ia about half of retail price, you can't lose! BTW, you're feet sweating in cold weather is NOT a good thing. You can get threnchfoot if you keep moving, frostbite if you stop. Wear less socks and for gods sake don't put anything cotton on.
  5. Seriously, warmest you can buy, period! http://cgi.ebay.com/Millet-Everest-Mountaineering-Boots-Mens-US-11-5_W0QQitemZ290142191767QQihZ019QQcategoryZ1299QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
  6. Figured I'd try here and see what you've all got.
  7. What is this? http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb291/boostedgtp/mid%20ohio%20amls%2007/midohio15.jpg
  8. I'm glad you live far away from me, Clay.
  9. Tender car is done, except for the lettering: http://img508.imageshack.us/img508/9393/tenderwd1.jpg As for toxicity, I'm painting with impunity, because I'll be coating it with poly or acrylic. He doesn't gnaw on things anymore, and the only things he puts in is mouth seem to be rocks.
  10. I blame the IRL for bringing them out. I submit that MO is a bad track for the mobility impaired. No matter what you do, you have to walk a mile to do it. How many people were there? Looked like a decent turnout from what little I saw on TV. I was kicking myself all weekend for missing it, outSTANDING weather. Instead, I rowed.
  11. My dad has old photos of them being built. The boilers barely fit in their assembly room.
  12. The wheels, maybe. They were 99 cents per 8, and they suck. All components are pinned with 1/4 dowels, everything is effectively solid poplar. I could run the engine through a wall and it would just get dusty. I once built a 30oz balsa wood bridge that was 15" long and held 350lb. Kids toys are nothin.
  13. Thanks all. You're right, plus; I'm going to the trouble of replicating it, I have to give it the signature colors. Nah it's an Am Trak car. It's done now: http://img256.imageshack.us/img256/5977/img2622ox6.jpg
  14. Streamliners are hawt, plain and simple. Check out this raging American steam fist: http://www.steamlocomotive.com/streamlined/scrapped/prr6100.jpg 140' long, duplex drive, 100+mph hauling 2,400,000 lb....scrapped in 1949.
  15. So Nicks birthday is next weekend, and he likes Choo Choos: http://img515.imageshack.us/img515/4352/chchue5.jpg I'm making it after the famous Southern Pacific Daylight 4449, Nick knows it as "oe'nge choo choo": http://home.earthlink.net/~starshipconductor/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/aam.jpg Not a replica, but its a toddlers toy, it need to be "frumpy'. Trouble is, I like it in wood. What would you do?
  16. I hate Howard and everyone there for not shutting the hell up. Ruined it.
  17. Have there been any Industrial Boiler explosions since the video camera was invented? Those are mean. Not steam, but dumb and funny.
  18. Dude, don't take martial arts to loose weight, its a waste of time and money, seriously. The fastest way for you to loose weight is to run your ass off in the morning, and do some weights in the evening. Hell, wear some 5lb wrist and ankle braclets when you run. "Tae Bo" and "cardio Kickboxing" are just bright shiny objects to get people to buy classes. Don't take martial arts classes unless you want to learn.
  19. Also for the sake of your kids, stay calm and don't whip out the firearms until they are in the closet/batheroom/panic room, etc. No little kid needs to see daddy set to go to war just before he gets locked in a small room. Imagine what goes through their heads, getting shoacked out of sleep and rounded up is bad enough. As for the pump action, you should find way to make that louder. You want everyone in the house to know that first round in is the chamber, and that they should stay the fuck away from you. Yelling out that you're nuts and have a shotty would help, also.
  20. There's venom in the stinger, you will have some kind of reaction. Benadryl is the best you can do for yourself at the moment. If it lasts another day or two, see a doctor. Your hand is more susceptible to infection when reacting to venom.
  21. Rode one at Indian Lake 2 weeks ago. I was too busy constantly looking over my shoulders to actually enjoy anything.
  22. Looks like a flea market threw up in there.
  23. Sweet, a glimmer of hope that one stone will hit a few birds.
  24. Water Lice: http://www.judywoods.dial.pipex.com/freshwater/watslaterthum.jpg "Lake Lice": http://www.travelizmo.com/archives/2006-kawasaki-jet-ski-stx-12f-personal-watercraft.jpg No one's ever heard the term befo'?
  25. thinking about taking the boy out camping for the first time, looking for a quiet drive up joint where we can fish and canoe without being run over by lake lice and ski boats.
