  1. This will be a production-run job, maybe 30-50 a year. Will be bare aluminum, 1/4" plates, about 12"x20".
  2. Or at least, Domestic ones? ths is work related, looking at low friction aluminum coatings. Anyone know how chemically resistant Nikasil is? I can't find anyone who's exposed it to anything but fuel and oil.
  3. Strategy # 2 to get you to loose your old car and pay for a new one: Make the new base model faster than your old Performance model. lol
  4. It's entertainment disguised as a sport. With fast and fragile cars, you develop faster and more skilled drivers because they *can't* hit eachother without putting both cars out. When you pound that "don't hit shit" mentality into their brains for so long, it's a tough habbit to break. They're slower partly because they don't hit people.... and partly because they got *demoted* to NASCAR because they suck. It's a different environment all together. JPM does as well as he does because he straight don't give a fuck, he showed that in F1... that's why he wasn't welcome there anymore. He broke a lot of very expensive cars. Win consistency is also up to your team as much as anything else. But you see, that doesn't adress the complaints. It's stil a spec-racer group, gear to ward bumching cars up for dramatic "passing" and more dramatic crashing. IRL sucks balls, plain and simple. You will not find me defending that in any way. The reason it sicks and is so boring? They're trying to apply the NASCAR model to cars that explode when they touch eachother. Tony is forgetting that it's not racing that puts asses in the seats at NASCAR events, it's "drama".
  5. It wouldn't be an issue on Dirt because they're barely going half the speed. You can indeed see the rear win lift up when his car comes around, but it's not the wings fault he went airborn; Its the fault of the jacka ss who spun him. Race cars aren't designed to go backwards. It's the "moving people" thing that makes NASCAR "racing" bullshit. If you can't get around a car without hitting them, you're a hack driver. Racing is about skill, strategy, and precision driving. Hitting shit that won't move over for you is childish video game BS.... Like Spec Miata.
  6. I wonder how many people from Columbus Motor Speedway will be there, acting like locals who don't want the noise....... http://www.petitiononline.com/CPX2010/petition.html Only 174 signatures total, pass this around! While I like the idea, her economic arguments are bullshit. A track will bring far mroe revenue into the area, ahould certainly not damage any buisnesses that currently exist there.
  7. http://motorsports.fanhouse.com/2010/03/07/nascar-has-to-draw-the-line/?ncid=webmaildl4 Fucking pathetic. The problem there is the "rubbing is racing" metality of NASCAR. Not that he was racing, but he wrecked the guy because the cars are designed to wreck. He actually thought he could spin a car at 180mph and nothing bad would happen. Start peeling back safety features, let the bad drivers get killed, should turn NASCAR into real racing again.
  8. Boobies are the mother of invention.
  9. Everyone remembers the first time they had to push their Ford. I have a box full of 24v garage door motors.
  10. [quote=Gearhead;1141029 exactly. every one raised them to a stupid level, and they all got sludge. and the only real reason was to lower maintenance costs. the high interval's were meant for full synthetic oils, not the normal stuff, but it still bakes in and sludges up. still wouldnt go past 7,500 of full synthetic. unless it maybe amsoil. Dude think; why would they recommend something that slowly damages the engine? . . . . So the cars don't last much past their warranty periods. They want the cars to break down *eventually* so that people will buy new ones.
  11. I'm in West Chester.... but I'll be at Mid Ohio that weekend.
  12. Last time I looked into it, I think the 7'x7' box culverts were between 600 and 900 a peice. 50 of them should give you a respectable range.
  13. Pre-cast "Box Culvert". Shouldn't be too expensive. http://www.hansonsilo.com/images/box-culvert-install.jpg I'm not sure what the law would say about it. Seems safe enough.
  14. I bough tmy XR7 off of RL for the same reason; it was a shitty drag racer. Put it on a open track with good tires, though, and it's C5 Z06-fast with only 250rwhp.
  15. Yes, that's the trick. I've always said that the US Navey has the best pilots in the world, but after seeing that... I'm fucking POSITIVE we have the best. That was fucking crazy, and a pretty stupid risk for a piece of equipment that they really cant afford to replace. When you don't have real air power, you can play around:
  16. Haven't clicked the link, and I know exactly what bus you guys are talking about.
  17. I'd live there.... If zoning would let me. I've looked into this.
  18. Actually, they started that on in 1989: http://www.tccoa.com/gallery/exhaust/b8.jpg Mine works great. They did cobble it into the mustang quickly, though. The second cobra IRS was stronger and heavier... because they were trying to pander it toward drag racers. People who like turning don't buy Mustangs, they buy other cars. Ford stopped marketing to them... and it seems to be working for them. In a racing application, the rear suspension doesn't move much anyways, so you're only missing out the ability to tweak camber.
  19. Hope you like tow trucks and down time. Those are better on paper then they are in practice.
  20. Are you sure you don't? http://jalopnik.com/5408309/2011-ford-mustang-gets-new-305-hp-v6-30-mpg The track pack sounds fun.
  21. True, though I'm not as concerned with low end because this will be a road-race motor. Low end can be nice, and then again too much can make accelerating out of low-speed corners tricky. The modulars, despite being all aluminum, are supposedly pushing 600lb, whereas the 5.0s are only about 450....? Apparently, for $5000, you can get an Aluminum 302 block from Dart.
  22. I see the Comp cams version, it seems almost worth it to get the 16lb off the nose of the car. Anyone have experience with that manifold? AnyonE know of any other plastic/composite EFI manifolds for the 5.0? Additionally, I'd heard that the 5.0 is one of ford lightest V8s... true?
  23. it's best to stay inconspicuous. http://www.newsobserver.com/2010/03/02/365898/officers-arrest-man-after-i-40.html
