  1. picked this up from a post on another thunderbird board, from a very reputable source: "If you blow off air, it MUST go to the front of the turbo. If not, it's air that was measured by the MAF, and the fuel was put in accordingly, but the air isn't there so it's rich. Most turbos use a wastegate, not a blow off." So, the blowoff air goes into the intake ahead of the turbo, i.e. between it and the air filter, right? Wont that spool the turbo, add boost to the intake, and negate having blown the air off? I'm not sure, but I think the T04E has an internal waste gate...anyone know for sure? I'll find out, one way or another

  3. you probably mean Bushings. I sincerely hope there are no rubber bearings on your car. and poly would be stiffer, its a harder, longer lasting compound then the decade+ old rubber you have now. As for instal, I dunno, never done a stang, dont swing that way tongue.gif
  4. Cool, I'dliektosee it. What modelis it off of? Know the size are the inlets? I've looked a few on ebay, if it's in this configuration, I realy cant use it: http://ebay0.ipixmedia.com/abc/M28/_EBAY_0da9eb6e240694bb02a3981538e3d69b/i-1.JPG
  5. I'd think it would depndon engine size andwheatherits blown ornot. Mine runs best just short of 12 on 93 octane gas, 14 would be rich for my N/A app.
  6. many of ya saw my below post. what Iu'm shootingfor is 400bhp4.6 SOHC,andI need a BOV to get all the preausre out of a 3-4" pipe at between 9-12 psi, not sure yet ,depends what the engine can take Is there a rating system for them, or do I just go by CFM...errr wha? OH! duh!, I know, you go by sound, the louder the better, right? graemlins/fruit.gif Thanks guys Eric btw, cheap helps, whacha think of this?: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1839657781 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1839507826 [ 02 July 2002, 07:55 PM: Message edited by: BlackBird ]
  7. haha nevarmore, I posted first. Evidently his 3 speed tranny actualy has downshift lever afixed to the throttly cable. Bollocks. Wonder what the carb has in the way of secondaries,it is a Performer series.
  8. First off, put a strap on the pedal, so when ouy moving it around, you can pull up on the pedal and leave the garage walls in peace, not peices Second, a question like that realy cant be answered (by me at least) unless the car is here to poke and prod. Anyone local have a 65 lincoln with a 430 and an Edelbrok 750?
  9. zing, thanks slow4now, this is what I wanted to see... http://toyotaperformance.com/int2.jpg See the corner facing you, the aluminum bars link together to make a solid (more or less) row of aluminum, you just tig the tanks to that. Rather then having to try and weld the tank to the tiny little coild individualy to make it all air tight. [ 29 June 2002, 09:34 PM: Message edited by: BlackBird ]
  10. How do the cores come? I'm hoping they have a plateof some sort on them already, I'd have to have to microweld around all those coils. I can have a guy at work TIG it for free, but it would have to be a quick job, being "on the clock" and all Plus, were do I get the tube stock to make the outlets out of?
  11. Well nuts, how about 2 supra coolers? lol. That actualy what I was thinking of,one on eac side, sinthe turbo will be on the opposite sideof the engine bay as the intake. I've begun the search for more room, but there suprisingly little to be had. The demensions I mentioned above come after having moved a few things. The spearco core idea sounds good, I know a guy who can tig aluminum, I just have to sneak it into work tongue.gif I was looking at this one on ebay, considered altering the tanks, just bringing the inlet/outlet tubes down a couple inches. http://ebay1.ipixmedia.com/abc/M28/_EBAY_fb7c0dafe145db9cec3593ecdc5fb928/i-1.JPG 28x 8 x 3 inlet and outlet 2.5 and they want $300 for it.
  12. nah, I want it forthe 400ish bhp larf I'm doing now smile.gif
  13. The hard part, finding the biggest one that can fit well, The Hard Part, section b, part 4, lines 13-24. I'm looking for an FMIC, just got dirty with the tape measure, looking for: 20" long 7" high 4" wide 2.5" or larger inlet/outlet I need the inlets coming straight in from the side. Anyone know the best place I can shop for one? I've exhausted ebay I am open to other ideas though, I'm liking the the stock supra setup, Hua, got your old one? Thanks Eric [ 28 June 2002, 06:45 PM: Message edited by: BlackBird ]
  14. Actualy, what he plugged intot he computerto flashe hte EEC and to burn chips (for others getting tunes) was abot the size or you're average PC "tower" cpu. What you have is probably what companies like superchips use to burn chips. When you compare what superchip can do to my car, and what one of his chips, or programs, can do....there is no comparison. The chip honnestly does things with the tranny that superchips claims isn't possible, all they can do is raise the limiter and increase line presure (which kills trannies). Like I said,he is a professional, does stuff I dont realy understand, but it's done right. Theres only 2-3 others that can come close to what he does to the EEC-V, and they were trained by him
  15. eehhh, i doubt it Notice I haven't brought up his name or where he operates out of? Thats because he uses equipment developed and provided by ford, and I dont think they car efor him using it how he does, he's adimate about anonimity smile.gif I do know him, not exatly personaly, I've met him a few times, exchange e-mail every once in a while, etc. And the whole reason I'm doing the turbo on the T-bird is origionality. I have the money, I could just throw a Novi 2000 at it....like everyone else.
  16. i know dude, thats why I'm here I am very green when it comes to turbocharging. Mark PM'd me a slew of sites that I need to read up on, and am in the process of doing so. The motor being build with have a setup directly mimiking the TDC stage 2xx mustang kit. The piping is chassis specific, so it wount work on the bird. However, the only difference realy is a bend around the strut towers and the steering shaft. In copying the kit, I am just standing on the shoulders of the inovtors", they've done the work. As for the EEC tuning, the EEC-V is a fully programable ECU.And taping in witht eh correct hardware and software takes no time at all. My car has already been programed for N/A by the same guy. i watched him do it...in bianary and hex. It took him 15 minsincluding strap down time. But he designed the damn thing, kind of an unfair advantage. not trying ot be cocky, just throwing up what I know.
  17. ehhhh, I'm leary of superchips. All they do is crank shit up. Quite a few guys with Tbirds that ran them ate their tranny's because the "harder shifts" came for increased line pressure, nothing more. Luckily, the fell who designed our computer is available, not sure about Honda though. lol $75 is cheap though, give it a try.
  18. its all in the programming man. the computer controls X aspects of engine operation. The newer cars have OBD2 and that kind of shit, all restraints. But they are merely programs and can be changed. I'll bring my dyno sheet out to the meet tonight, you can see the change in air fuel ratio. Also, with a laptop, the software, and a EEC Tuner, you can sit in your car, wired into the EEC V, and tell it what you want. This means you can adjust it for different boost levels, etc. You can sit in you car and play with/monitor things, just like the buzz word "stand alone" unit featured in That Damn Movie. Adn the flash is just for the current 400hp setup. I'm still open to innovation for the High output version to come, Boost controlers, etc.
  19. well, some fool wanted to pay $800 fot he T66,so i let'm have it. but it looks like a T04E will suit my current project.
  20. No speedo? I dont see a problem Pick up a manual for teh car, try and fint eh speedo gear. Usualy its barely held in the tranny. For instance min is held in by a single bolt and a metal plate, should the plate be bend, I can see how the gear might skip around, only working occasionaly. If it aint that, Your cluster might be fubar'd, and pulling that is a biotch.
  21. Methinks we have a disbeleiver I'll put it this way, The EEC-V itself is the work of the man that is going to tune my car. Remeber, i said he worked for Ford? Trust me,he knows his shit. And I will most certainly not be running a piggy back chip, it will be a direct reflash, essentialy a custom computer. I'm catching a hint of "ignorant newbie needs schooling"....dont care for it. I assure you I know my shit. edit: 89 gt?...you're not holding me to the same rules as your EEC-IV, are you? [ 26 June 2002, 05:49 PM: Message edited by: BlackBird ]
  22. 500+? 500 + 150 or 200 The new motor will have the shit boosted out of it, literaly as much as possible. And I drive it as daily as possible, as it will most likely be Fukin awsome. tongue.gif the curent set up will be the OE engine of my daily driver, SoI'd rather run rich then lean. Also, like I said, the EEC tune will set the fuel preasure, so I wont need to worry about over doing it no matter what size injector I use.
  23. I'll correct ya...carcka! The biggest I've seen is 160#, yes 160#. They were experimental and used on a mid 7 second car. I've seen 50# for a reasonable price, but theres got to be something between 50 and 160. lol
  24. heheh, sure dude, I'll enlighten him I dont suppose it's a v6 is it? Those actualy got tubular headers stock! Good for about 145bhp and low 17's in the 1/4
  25. And they dont have my aluminum spring adn shitty valve body toting 4R70W I'll toss up the plans here for all to see and ad input, thats why I posted it the first place. * indicates what I have already Alum 6 bolt block* (I'll bring it out tonight, I swear) Cobra crank (forged) Manley foged rods and pistons, 8.5:1 ModMax plasma moly rings Studs and gaskets from Modular performnce.
