I deffinatly need to go drive it
  2. umm....spark knock maybe? tongue.gif What plugs did you use and what did you gap them at? If the parts guy said "they're pre gapped" kick him in the nuts, they are pre gapped....pre gapped WRONG! tongue.gif as for the Fan, leave its duties up tot eh stock unit, you dont need a fan switch, hte computer oes fine on its own. I found that out the hard way. Did you know your fan has 2 speeds?
  3. dunno, couldnt pop the hood. though, by looking at the hood, it's most likely NA. what engine options did they come with? Just the 2, or was there another?
  4. I found one for sale, but couldnt talk to the seller, theyz was closed. What I saw was: mid 80s 200 SX 5 spd 3:90 rear gear (saw the tag on th diff) minumal rust Ghey custom paint job note in the car said it needed exhaust work, I'm all over that. But also said the key sometimes stuck and wouldn't work... Anyone know anything about reliability, parts availabiltiy, hp ratings, etc? Looks like a decent rally car for $500 [ 11 November 2002, 05:25 PM: Message edited by: BlackBird ]
  5. I thin the first cat is actualy part of the exhaust manifold, aint it?
  6. Well, mine was done on Brians dyno, whilst at Advanced, a few of you guys witnessed it. Beside, I wouldnt lie about numbers this low tongue.gif 188 rwhp 273 lbft 3855 lbs (truck stop scales, near natty trails)
  7. How about investing in a new driver gasket while you're at it? tongue.gif </font>I did, spent about $500 this summer on that tongue.gif I was gunna pass some of that on..but eh
  8. man...fuck an automatic, I just want a bigger check and a T-45
  9. WHAT!? THERE'S SUPPOSED TO EB FLUID IN THERE!?? OH SHIT!......... ok, now what cap'n obvious. tongue.gif
  10. Lucky me, I was rearended by a Suburban friday night. To give you an idea of the impact, he was only doing about 10-20 mph, it bent in the rear support that the trunk latch is mounted to, so the trunk doesnt line up or close properly. It busted a LED light, knocked the LED out on the other one, so both are shot. Tow hooks punched holes in the bumper cover and foam support. Now, I was stopped witht he gar in gear, my foot on the brake, and the hit pushed me foward about a foot and a half. Now I have 2 drivetrain issues. A - Vibration abouve 60 mph, gets worse when I lift off the gas. B - When I exit a turn and give it some gas, I get a whole lot'o'revs and none of it makes it to the ground untill I lift and straightent he car. Like it wants to downshift but misses the gear. Any idea whats goin on here?
  11. Jon, there's no doubting the novility of it, but beond that...why? You know ol Liz needs a rebuild, deffinatly needs at least one new exhaust manifold. For $1400 you could rebuild the engine, and have some flanges made so'ze we can make some headers. After that, you should be able to put the spray to it. actualy, for $1400, you could get realy creative and snatch an Intech 4.6/wiring and tranny out of a junker Mark VIII and throw it in. You could run the same program, and then toss mods on it. A supercharger will bring you back up to 380 hp at half the weight. However, the 4.6 and 5.4 DOHC modulars are the widest motor ford has ever made, so fitment would suck. Hell, check this , take the motor and tranny, and make the rest into a fish tank or furnature or somthing. My advice, rebuild the 430. Do some reaserch, find out what pistons and rods you can stuff in it. If FoMoCo 460 pistons/rods/crank will fit, fuckin sweet. You can use studs, and aftermarket parts and build a tough bottom end, then spray it later. Wouldnt go over 11:1 though, gas gets pricey. Good thing about this build is, you can retain the nostalgia of it, hide the N2o shit, and still win shows. also, look into your transmissions durability. 12. I hear nevarmore's pretty good at that, cheaper then $20, too. tongue.gif
  13. "keeps" eh? he must be over there quite a bit, makes me think you're bouth graemlins/gay.gif </font> just a shot in the dark here, but it might have something to do with them being room mates</font>some one gets the joke, yhey [ 21 October 2002, 12:49 PM: Message edited by: BlackBird ]
  14. "keeps" eh? he must be over there quite a bit, makes me think you're bouth graemlins/gay.gif one thing i do whenever I get a light, i reset my EEC. I pull the ECU fuse, crankt he car twice (it wint start), then put the fuse back in. If theres a proble, the light will come back on, if its nuthin, the light will stay off. paid $60 to find out my pcv froze shut,t hen thawed and was fine....never again.
  15. never worked much with that, outside of welding it, and that pretty much involves nuthing BUT exeeding its tolerences. I'm devising some cut outs. Two flanged pieces will come together and dump down. Inbetween the 2 flanged peices will be a gasket (of course), and a removable "dam" made of sheet aluminum I have sitting here. This will be about 2 feet from the manifold, downstream of a set of cats. Spoze it'll be cool enough?
  16. ehh, it is a hatch back Si, i should look into that
  17. dude, remove allt he seats, including the drivers seat. Pick up on of these: http://www.jegs.com/photos/57017400.jpg $84 from Jegs w/o the cover, cover is another $50. You're a clever cracka, you can make up a bracket for it. You can swap seats in and out as you please. If you're serious, race car serious, tear every interior peice out (carefull with the air bags). You dont need much of a dash, just the gauges, center console, sound dedening material, get it da hell up out.
  18. hmm, rear disc conversion seems like a good idea. AWD...ehh, money
  19. ehh, naaawz dont suit a rally race very well tongue.gif
  20. dewd, we got that list already looking for Si specific mods. Kindal lil shit I learned for the tbird, where money should be spent, where it can be saved, or omitted all together.
  21. its a friends rally beater. What can be done to them that's cheap/easy? He found a 6spd AWD transmission for one on Ebay, any idea on swapability?

    Turbos

Ceramic blades? I'm thinking that would eb bad. Maybe on a deisel that onlyy sees 2000 rpm, but I'd theink that the brittle ceramic would not like high reving engines. As for Ball bearing vs oil, i've heard people on both sides ofit, some say bearings aren't neccesary, some say they are. At the very least its less friction, should help to spool it. Anyone heard anything about the longevity of BB turbos? I'd think a slight oiling misshap could be costly.
  23. 3 words Solid fuel rockets they make anything faster Hrmm, could weld the waste gate shut, and hope you can match it with fuel. But wait, does it have a waste gate? I've heard things about dodge's But hell, first stop, full exhayst, help it spool. I can do ya an uber cheap one
