  1. I am checking to see if anybody has any/all of these parts so that I can do a TPI to carb swap on my TA. I would need a vaccuum advance distributor and a 600-700 range carb. I am not looking for New stuff, just stuff that I can get so that I can get this thing running. If anybody is interested in the TPI setup I will talk trades as well.
  2. "Crazy Fast", and the tranny is just inches away from your right leg with no protection!
  3. I know I could make one, just thought if somebody had one it would save me a considerable amount of time and energy.
  4. I need a box for a trans am hood that I am planning on shipping. If anyone works at a bodyshop or knows where I can get a box that would be great.

    What do you do?

I make custom glues, water-based like elmers and hot melts.
  6. I got the red x to load one time and it said $8600 so it is just an extra zero, but he'll figure that out when he gets zero bids
  7. Dave, is that front only, or 4 wheel alignment?
  8. Bill is right, you should do engine with nitrous, and achieve an even higher hp/tq than with the turbo(s). You could spend 5k on the engine and $1000 on the nitrous and have a monster setup. Victory Racing Engines has some very nice combinations out there.
  9. I can try (may have to be from a camera phone). Shoot me an email at tuttle_36@yahoo.com and I will try and get it for you.
  10. I have some from a 305/350 firebird, those should fit, but not sure on your plans.
  11. If you use the painless harness it will only take care of the fuel injection problem. You stated that you have the dash wiring so you shouldn't have any other issues. Just PM me and I will let you have one of the connectors (ie free). If you have the wiring harness from the TBI I think that those connectors will also work, but I am not sure on that one. What stage are you at right now? Have you removed all of the wiring from the chassis?
  12. The injector plugs are standard, I have some off a TPI motor that you could have. In fact I replaced one on the LT1 that I have with one from the TPI harness and the wiring is actually a little more heavy duty on the TPI motors than the LT1s. Have you looked at how the fuel rail is oriented on the donor car and on the LT1 engine yet? That should give you an idea of where you may need to adapt from.
  13. The hard lines will work up to the engine bay, but you will have to move stuff around. The LT1 fuel rails have hookups at the firewall and the 3rd gens have hookups at the front (TPI) and (TBI? not sure) or by the carb. The LT1 also has GM fuel line quick disconnects as well that you will either need to get or find a way to custom plumb.
  14. That brings up another big thing since you mentioned that it is TBI. You will need to replace the fuel pump with a TPI as you need the 45psi. I would go with a walbro intank if I were you since the stock TPI will give out when you get the mod bug.
  15. Yeah, what's an extra $300 to $400 dollars, it's just money, right? I guess to me the painless is like the easy way out, you do not have to figure out anything on your own, and in some respects the engine swap is more about learning than anything else. Well, that and don't forget some of the accessories will not work since the painless harness is not exactly going to work for all the various configurations that the thirdgens had.
  16. Those are the diagrams that you will need for the power to get from the 96 computer to all the accessories on the dash etc. You cannot just put the harness into a third gen, there is A LOT of splicing that will be required for you to be able to get anything beyond it cranking. The C100 connector is on the driver's side bulkhead and the C207 is on the passenger side where the old computer was at. If you do not have the harness from donor vehicle it is going to be a very headbashing experience (have dents in my forehead to prove it).
  17. That would work, what are your goals for the car? If drag racing is your main consideration I would suggest an automatic transmission. You could put a 4L60E in that would be more capable of holding the power. The five speeds did not go on the 350 engine for a reason. Also was the computer for an auto or manual car? Again the most help that I can give you is to look at the engine swap section on thirdgen.org.
  18. upgrade the springs in the front, the tranny will be toast soon after mating unless you beef it up, and bookmark thirdgen.org as the C100 AND C207 connector diagrams will become your best friends.

    A/C Service

The problem is that if I replace the expansion valve it will open the system up to the atmosphere and I have no way of removing air from the system once it is open. Secondly it would probably not find and small leaks with the home kit since there is not a real pressure check going on.
  25. Who on here works somewhere that does A/C service? I have checked the compressor and it works, there are no major leaks in the system (checked with dye) and so I suspect that it either has a small leak, or more likely that the expansion valve is shot. I can replace the valve, but I would need it vacuumed and refilled.
