  1. Ben, I'm feeling the exact same way after just one day of DE with the Porsche Club. I can't wait to get back tomorrow and get some more laps in. I have learned so much and have gained much more conifidence in driving.
  2. It's not really road racing, just a driver education program. There wasn't anything on the site about it having to be a specific shop, so I should be good with just any mechanic. At least I hope they don't screw me with that haha.
  3. I knew I shoulda called Derek first haha. Let me know if you can do it tomorrow or Friday. Should just take a minute.
  4. And I just realized this is in the wrong section, sorry.
  5. In order to pass inspection for the driver education I'm taking part in next week, I need an inspection form signed by a qualified mechanic. Anyone in the Southwest part of town wanna help me out? I've already checked most of the items myself, but they want a mechanics signature, not my own.
  6. I've noticed that the BBC America commercials are very misleading. They say they're "all new", but they're actually showing season 6 while the new season that just ended was season 11. The season BBC America just finished airing was newer than the "all new" one they're showing now!
  7. Nah, planning to take part in the Porsche Club Driver Education event. Nothing timed, just trying to learn. Once my confidence and experience grow, I'll maybe try HPDE around a track.
  8. I'm looking forward to getting back to it since I haven't run since June. I gotta use up the rest of my brake pads before I get them replaced before some track time at Mid-Ohio.
  9. I once thought that, until I saw them run at Sonoma this season. I dunno if it's the newer cars or what but it was painful watching them try and wrestle those things around the track. They looked like they were having a hard time getting the suspension settings sorted. On the plus side, it was a little more exciting them watching Indycars run 85 parade laps at Mid Ohio.
  10. American Top Gear should start this fall. I believe they are taping the pilot this weekend. People from all over the country were making the journey to LA to be there.
  11. Better hurry, looks like there isnt much time left. I sent my registration yesterday (you can only do so by mail) and am hoping it's not filled up yet.
  12. I'm thinking I'm gonna go for it, even though I should probably be saving my money. You guys usually get a hotel or do you just make the drive daily? A hotel equals more money, but then there's gas and mileage.
  13. So I just got an email from Byers about a Driver Education event at Mid Ohio in August: two days for $300. Sounds a lot like an HPDE day, but more laid back and more expensive. Anyone know more about this and if it's worth the extra money?
  14. I'm guessing the ducting on the rear is for a cooler back there for the differential fluid? They could even run down to the brakes? The three lights on the cars identify its position (1-3) within its class. Just a way to help the trackside fans figure out where everyone is.
  15. Great pictures. That sounds like the right way to visit an event like that. I love how close to the "behind-the-scenes" you can get there.
  16. Anyone have the pleasure of parking in a muddy field? I got to take the GTI mudding for the first time to get out of there after the race lol. I wish I could have camped, it makes avoiding the crowds easier, and boy were there crowds. That event is getting so huge it's almost no fun. I'm thankful most ALMS teams hadn't left this morning so I could get a look at the cars, especially the DBR9's, mmmm.
  17. I wish I could make it to defend my last place finish in DSP, but Mid Ohio, among other things, will prevent me from showing. I look forward to the next event.
  18. There's also this company: http://worldclassdriving.com/. They just added a date for Columbus next June. You don't get to drive on a track, but it's much cheaper than $5000.
  19. I've only heard bad stories from people about getting wisdom teeth out. I had mine out when I was 17 or 18, don't really remember. It was about as easy and painless as possible. I got 4 shots, they pulled them out, put in some stitches, and I was eating solid food for dinner a couple hours later, no pain meds or anything. Sucks you guys all got them ripped from you while basically conscious.
  20. A guy at work won two free tickets and offered me one, so I'll at least make it for Sunday. Also, if we get there early enough we get a free paddock pass. At least I'll make it to Mid Ohio for at least one day this year.
  21. Really? Wow, well no wonder it didn't mention Speed World Challenge in that article. Well it's still sad no matter who was killed.
  22. http://auto-racing.speedtv.com/article/dino-crescentini-killed-at-mosport-international-raceway/ I'm not very familiar with his career, I just remember watching him in the Speed World Challenge series. He seemed like a pretty good talent. I know this won't recieve as much attention as Kalitta's death, but it sucks that so much tragedy is happening in racing within a few days.
  23. Murcielago is spanish for "bat".
  24. I was told that the "thee" sound is correct because that's how the word is pronounced in a certain dialect of spanish. But the "see" sound is OK because most spanish dialects would pronounce it that way. I usually pronounce it with the "see" sound though I'm used to hearing the "E-L" cause I watch too much Top Gear.
