  1. Nate in an SUV? FBI sniffing around so you're trying to switch identities? Or is it cause an SUV can carry many more explosives? I've wanted to try kayaking for some time. Buy two and I'll come visit ya
  2. I've been dreaming of driving on Mid Ohio for a couple years now but haven't been sure how. So I want to expand this question... Besides making sure your car is in good running condition, do you need to be an SCCA or NASA member to join? I, too, have never driven on a race track or auto-x course but have dreamt of being Michael Schumacher lol. I don't really care what the price ends up being, I'd jump at this opportunity of I just knew what hoops I had to jump through, first.
  3. My friend just bought a house that looks just like that except the garage is set out a bit to give room for a bigger bedroom on the first floor. I think the inside is fairly nice and seems bigger than it looks from the outside. I do agree that having the front door half way up is strange and takes away a lot of space on the inside front of the house for the landing.
  4. Thats's one thing I hate about staying at that campground, the idiots in the golf carts driving around all night long. But I wish I could have seen this accident. During which weekend did it happen?
  5. Damnit, we need a variation of Super GT over here. Or some rogue team to enter one of those in the GT1 class of ALMS.

    New Job

Hey, I know that guy, he's a tech on third shift. I haven't talked to him much since I'm a test tech on second. So yeah, Dearborn or Delaware facility? The company is growing pretty fast, but you wouldn't know it by looking at the chicken feed they pay us.
  7. I've read many sources saying the GT-R is faster than the Z06 around "The Ring." It's only by 3 or 4 seconds, but it's faster. I'm pretty sure the Z06 has near perfect weight distribution, something along the lines of 51/49 front to rear. I haven't seen many figures on the GT-R but I'm willing to bet they'll say the same thing. But, according to the previews and reviews I've read, the GT-R is supposedly easier to drive and inspires you to push the car harder. So far that seems to be what's giving it the edge.
  8. Did anyone else notice that the ref is the same ref from the movie Dodgeball? I kept wanting to hear him yell "Dodgeball!" instead of blowing his whistle.
  9. Have some info... http://www.motortrend.com/future/concept_cars/112_0712_mazda_furai_concept
  10. Thanks, I was wanting to see a video like this just so I could hear the sound it made.
  11. Damn, Bathurst is a scary track! That car sounds good, maybe not as good as the new XKR, though.
  12. How about pretty much any car or scene from the movie "Le Mans"? Such as... http://youtube.com/watch?v=jQu-84VohVQ
  13. Ha, I heard pulling it out of the filler neck if it caught fire was the worst thing to do. That could have gone a lot worse.
  14. Congrats on the purchase. I'm not a big fan of the Fahrenheits, but it's your money. I've only seen one of those around Columbus so far, so it's a rare ride around here for sure. And I agree with Supplicium, get yourself the APR tune, I couldn't live without it. The difference in response is nearly night-and-day. Check out this article for more reasons to love it: http://www.automobilemag.com/features/0712_2007_volkswagen_mkv_gti_2008_r32_comparison/index.html.
  15. I think it looks pretty mean, but I'm sorta biased towards hatchbacks. Some people look at the short rear overhangs and think it looks too front heavy, but to me it looks cool. Plus, if it's fun to drive then I wouldn't be too worried about how the outside looks. It'll sure turn heads wherever it goes, though.
  16. On a related note: the Team America signal for distress should be adopted by organizations everywhere lol.
  17. Thanks for the quick reply. I'll head there this weekend.
  18. I've picked up my guitar for the first time in about 5 years and it's in desperate need for new strings. I'm wondering if there are any music stores in my general area (Henderson Rd. and Sawmill)? Thanks.
  19. Actually, TripleThreat was right. In Europe, the Mazda 3, Ford Focus and Volvo S40 share platforms. Over here the Focus and Mazda 6 are based on different platforms from their European counterparts.
  20. This is what led me to say what I said. Fifth Gear even says the engine is from the ST. It's definitely not related to the American Focus and Mazda 3. The ones we get are based on different platforms from the ones sold overseas.
  21. Under the skin that's basically what it is: a Focus ST. Same engine, at least, but I'm not sure what else is shared. The reviews I've read of it say it's too soft to fully compete with the rest of its class (GTI, Mini Cooper S, etc.) I think it looks pretty sweet, though, and wouldn't mind taking one for a spin.
  22. It's the fastest thing to circle VIR under Car and Drivers scrutiny. They do power laps every few months with sporty cars and keep the results in their magazine. It topped the current Z06 by just a hair. But I agree with those who say the 2nd gen GTS is the best looking to date.
  23. I'm here, but not really part of the Vdub scene. If I didn't work second shift I'd probably check out the meetings at Hatfield, though. And I swear that one of these days I'm gonna take the thing to an autocross event. I'd love to buy more parts for my car but I'm trying to save for a better place, but someday I'd like to at least get some new wheels and an exhaust.
  24. http://youtube.com/watch?v=N6hkkRJ4Fjw A 2005 Renault doing 0-150 in 6 seconds.
  25. When you watch F1 coverage they love to show the accelerometer in order for you to see what kind of G's the driver experiences. Anything up to 5 G's in any direction is the norm for them. I'd like to see the same metering applied to a stock car for a comparison. I imagine at cookie-cutter tracks like Charlotte they come close to matching it laterally, but they don't have the added pressure of those 5 G's pulling them forward when they brake multiple times per lap, like the F1 drivers.
