I work for the one in Hilliard, and thankfully we don't have all of the BS problems the one on Morse has. It was still funny as hell though when loss pervention had to have me translate between CPD and a mexican guy that drove to the store drunk, and tried to shoplift a bottle of whiskey in the middle of the day. You'd think that people around Hilliard wouldn't need to steal, but we catch more people then I'd like to admit trying to just walk off with plasma TVs and shit like that. Morse Rd's wal-mart is like little Somalia because that part of columbus is where a fuck ton of somalian people live. No idea why someone would want to shit on the floor though. People are just plain fucking disgusting.

Do you still have this, and could it make it to california? My engine just blew up for the second time in a row and I don't want to throw more money into the car. I'm pretty much done with Ohio and planning to drive back out to Cali.

I've been driving my roommate's 93 Metro LSi 'vert running on 175-75-R13 Douglas Xtra-Trac tires up front, and some sort of Kumho tires in the rear the past few days while my 'Vic is getting fixed and I had no trouble at all in the snow. Actually passed several RWD vehicles yesterday and this morning too. Good traction unless you do something stupid. Creative use of the emergency brake in unplowed parking lots when nobody else is around is pretty entertaining too. I'm honestly more worried about driving my 4000lb tank in this shit, because I know if I hit someone in a new car, they're dead.

There actually is a box that can be used to hook the iPod up to the CD changer port on most head units, and it's not that expensive either. That would probably be your best bet if you don't want to just buy a head unit that's got iPod support built in.

Too true, unfortunately... I used to own an FC (Convertible 5-speed, 1989 I think) and it drank up the gasoline too, but if I was gonna get myself in a situation where I was going to have to run, I'd hope to be gone before using up a full tank anyway. From that example (105mph / 60 minutes = 1.75 miles per minute X 20 minutes = 35 miles X 2 = 70 mile range at 105mph) if I haven't already gotten away within that amount of time/driving, I'm probably fucked anyway because backup has had plenty of time to join in, not to mention spike strips/roadblock setup/chopper support, etc. (assuming police pursuit, not just an irate civillian)

Depends... In traffic, I'd probably want something like a 2nd gen RX-7 Turbo, 3rd generation RX-7, S2000, Mazdaspeed MX-5, MR2 Turbo, BMW M3 or maybe a Z3, SLK 230 Kompressor, maybe a WRX, SVX, or EVO. Something with some speed to it, but small and zippy enough to weave through traffic like I'm trying out for the next ricer flick. If it had to be a FWD, maybe a first gen Ford Probe GT, since I was able to go pretty damn quick in my NA probe that I used to have and it handled pretty well at higher speeds, I was good at power sliding the car and throwing it around. Of course, if the traffic was heavy enough, I'd say a Geo Metro or Suzuki Swift convertible with the Suzuki 1.3 liter DOHC motor swapped in, 5-speed, beefed up to at least 135hp would be light enough, small enough, and quick enough to get through tight spaces most cars can't. Mock the brand all you want, but it would have a fighting chance at that point, just because it's size would allow it to get through places only a sub-compact can go. Late night, nothing to lose, and no bystanders to get caught up in the mess? Probably my car (85 Crown Vic), with a heavily beefed up motor, better tires, and better suspension. At least then I could probably drop back for a quick second to ram into the other car's quarter panel on a corner (I'd probably try to lure the chasing vehicle onto a curvy section of 315, 71 going towards 70, or 670 to facilitate such a homicidal tactic.) instead of trying to run. That would likely spin the other car out and into a guardrail or median and then I'd have more then enough time to slip away and hide, if the guy could even still drive after a dirty trick like that. And the unrealistic choice? A Ford GT, or any other car in it's class. The music I'd be playing? Probably Ayria - My Device.

Point taken, though I had no trouble going 80 last night, even if it is a boaty tank of a car. Going around freeway junctions does take a bit of care and slow driving though.

Why would a 1985 Crown Vic make miles of traffic slow down? It's such an old model that nobody could seriously mistake it for a police car, after all. I more expect to get pulled over a lot because it looks like an old hoopty to the police.

Really liking it so far. People get WAY the fuck outta the way when they see this old tank coming. Only had one person try something stupid in their Grand Am and saw their (female) passenger start beating the shit out of them for it when I looked over at them.

Just picked up my roommate's Metro LSi 'vert from the shop yesterday. Amazing turnaround time from when we dropped the car off and when it was ready. Car is running nice and quiet with the new engine in it, engine bay looks super clean, no way to tell by glancing at it that it isn't the original motor in there. Very good to work with, price was very fair on the labor too.

If you feel like holding it till the 8th, consider it sold. I'll call you later today if I can.

The only bad thing is that I'm only going to have $500-$600 on the 25th, since this engine blowup really smacked me hard, as I had just poured all of my money into a few other repairs the car needed. That said, if you aren't in a hurry to get it gone ASAP, I'd be 100% OK with setting that money aside along with the paycheck after to buy it. I like that body style. I get paid every other thursday and get $8.25/hour for 40 hours a week, and my expenses are pretty low right now, just food and some necessities. Work is walking distance so I can wait.

Yeah, it was the Scorpio. I have a little more confidence in the 5-speed models simply because the tranny in the auto versions was junk. I suppose I have a good week or two to think about it. On that accord, what's making the OD not work? How much does it usually run to just put a new tranny in those things?

My car not only lost OD on the transmission the other night, but then promptly threw a rod through the engine block to add insult to injury So now I need another one. I am getting paid again on the 25th, and will probably have a budget of around $500 that day. I can't really afford to do major repairs on top of buying a car right now, but small annoyances are ok. Just no blown/missing engines, ruined clutches, transmissions, or anything like that. No cars about to catch fire either (long story) Transmission type and FWD/RWD/AWD not very important, though I'd prefer a 4-cyl for economy Open to more expensive vehicles too (around $1000), if they'll still be around early january. Very open to older Honda Civic/CRX/Prelude/etc cars, as long as they aren't about to blow up, catch fire, or otherwise self destruct. Must be able to last at least 6 months with regular oil changes.

89 Merkur Scorpio, V6, auto, needs either a rotor or a wheel bearing. Still runs and moves, 25.5mpg at 90mph according to the fuel computer. $700.

Posting this because a chance to get into an MR2 cheap has come up, and I'm gonna need the cash to get the thing up and running. 2.9 Liter V6, Engine runs, fuel computer claims 25.5mpg on the highway at 90mph, car shifts through all of the 4-speed auto's gears properly. Heat works pretty well. No radio, but speaker system is all there. Needs an air filter, and either a new wheel bearing or rotor on the front driver's side, haven't had time to mess with it. You should see the exhaust setup he made for the Corolla SR5 coupe I had when it was his. Unorthodox, but strangely cool and worked pretty well.
