I can't blame them either. I drove the hatchback I had from here to New York and back with a burned out exhaust valve on cylinder #2. 55MPH top speed like that uphill, in a 3-speed automatic. Is the rust at the point where the control arms mount, or is it somewhere else?

Just as a gauge here, I've owned two of these cars, a hatchback, and a convertible. Paid $500 for the hatchback, which you can ask Rolla all about what shape THAT body was in before I took it to him, and $300 for the convertible, which needed a new cylinder head along with a bunch of little related parts for the repair. both cars ran like fuckin champs, and $1100 is not bad for a 5-speed, in GOOD shape. If you have trouble selling it here, try posting it on teamswift.net. By the way, is this a 3-door, 5-door, or convertible you are selling? You also might want to add the condition of the undercarriage. These cars are notorious for having the points where the control arms bolt to the body rusting out and breaking off eventually.

With the red coupe, Not much, suprisingly. The car could probably use a tune up including adjusting the valve clearances, and a replacement carb wouldn't hurt either, but I drive it as my daily, which means I've been delivering pizzas using the car. It also made the drive down to cinci and back this past weekend without any bitching at all. The annoying things are of course a bit of the good old toyota rust (Body is actually really good, but the quarters need the loving touch of your local bondo pirate), the speedometer isn't working, and the fuel gauge isn't working too good (may be a problem with the cluster, may be the sensor, either way I have 2 extra clusters, and the hatch as a good speedometer cable). Tranny shifts good, clutch hasn't slipped once, engine is still more then strong enough to have an arguement with it's rear tires and win. Stereo is a stock Toyota head unit and normal OEM speakers, sounds very good when the equalizer is set right. Power sunroof that works without one bit of complaint. Windshield has a bit of a crack in it, $130 to replace it at Glass Masters. Tinman used to own the car and sold it to a friend of mine, who decided my Geo Metro convertible was a more appropriate car for him then a RWD 5-speed, so we traded cars. The hatchback can be started, but can't really be taken out on the road, the alternator is dead, the carb is fucked up, and the car just does not run properly at all. The interior has a very good carpet, and anything that isn't working on the coupe IS working on the hatch, so the hatch can donate anything needed to fix what the coupe does need. The only reason I'm even thinking about parting with my AE86 is just because I'd like to have a 1st gen MR2 or a Fiero, since the cost of just buying a more powerful car to start with is less then the cost of an engine swap, or the purchase price of the paradise racing power pack and installation cost of said pack. (not to mention the realization that while the car could make 110hp with the power pack, it's going to rape the fuel economy into Rotary and V8 land without any of the benefits)
-
I'm thinking of trading or selling my red AE86 coupe (silver hatchback included as a not-properly-running parts car, or a 2nd car to fix and drive) to get into something I don't have to spend thousands on an engine swap for to get decent power out of seeing as people say the paradise racing power pack makes the gas mileage really suck...
-
What kind of trades are you interested in?

+1 Since there are no Corollas in this movie, hopefully people won't use it as an excuse to inflate the price of them even more.
-
Well a good chunk of them should be going away, considering a whole building in the complex burned down this morning while I was at work. Nobody was killed thankfully, but I agree, shitty part of town. Just a couple more months left to go before I can move.
-
I'd say they act like little hood rats, yup. I was laying down and heard them playing outside my window the other day: "I don't give a shit! You think you all hard, I'm done wit you!" ^^--- From one of the little girls outside to one of the kids she was playing with, apparently. From the voice she couldn't be more then 12 at the most.
-
This is one nice car. The Lincoln Town Cars actually get fairly good gas mileage for a V8 and tend to put up with a ton of abuse too.
-
I generally don't even interact with the kids at all, so it isn't a matter of antagonizing them, they just don't seem to understand that someone else's car is not OK to try to get into or play around. Can't just skip out on a lease without fucking up my credit, or I would have moved months ago. I can't recommend relfections on the lake to anyone needing an apartment. Just about an hour ago some crackhead bitch went and asked my roommate if he knew where to buy any crack, when she never even met him before. :/

WTF is with my neighborhood? Not only do we have the shittiest ricers in the city living here that can't even pick a side of the road to drive on, but the fucking children are annoying as fuck. Just got home from dropping a friend at work to find a bunch of kids playing near my AE86 hatch. Now normally, I don't care if they're simply around the car, but this time, I see one of the little fuckers trying to get INTO the car! This isn't the first time I've had to tell some kids to get the fuck away from a car of mine either. One time I came home after a delivery to check on shit, and I see some little brat swinging a tree branch that's as tall as I am, and then THROWING it at another kid while she's standing right next to my car! Now I know kids are incredibly stupid by nature, but where the fuck are the parents? We have crackheads, illegals, a weed dealer just a couple doors down, assholes who whip through the parking lot and surrounding streets like it's some Fast and the Furious movie, and a fuck ton of robberies. Are the parents just not concerned at all if their little angel gets pasted/abducted/whatever? Do people in Ohio just not know how to raise children period?
-
Because I got it by trading a Geo Metro 'vert that I paid $300 for to get, meanwhile the going price for a rust free Corolla GT-S that hasn't had the piss beaten out of it (what I REALLY want) is a couple grand unless you're buying grandma's old Toyota Corolla that she just thinks of as any old car, cause ricers. Might as well keep it around until I can afford a nicer one.

+1 I pretty much gave up on the idea of rebuilding those shitty toilet bowls Toyota called carburetors. I found a place that can sell me a good one for 200-something, and Paradise Racing already sells a very good kit with a Weber, new cam and valve springs that adds 40hp for around 650 or so. Of course, in cali, I'd need a working stock setup for every smog check cali emissions or not :<
-
Carburetors. I fucking hate carburetors. For those of us who have owned or own a Corolla SR5 RWD with the federal emissions setup, that is the one part that seems to not only love to fail, but costs an arm and a leg to replace, AND is a bitch to find. Advance only carries the california emissions version, and the only ones I've found in junkyards have been just as broken if not more broken. The easy way out is to just buy a Weber as I know and have been told by a few Club4ag members, but fuck... $350, *AND* the damn thing will make me autofail smog check once I move to Cali? WTF.

Thanks, I'll look them up.

Blacklist? Isn't that a Need For Speed: Most Wanted thing?

I'm gonna want to get the following done on my 1986 Corolla with 4A-C engine (carbed): Oil change Check and set ignition timing Check and adjust valve clearances How much would y'all consider to be a fair price to do all three of those, and can anyone recommend a good place that won't fuck up my car?

Here's some pics. http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y26/Kuruma_Kitsune/IM000260.jpg http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y26/Kuruma_Kitsune/IM000259.jpg http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y26/Kuruma_Kitsune/IM000263.jpg http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y26/Kuruma_Kitsune/IM000261.jpg http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y26/Kuruma_Kitsune/IM000255.jpg the last one is one of the seats I'm modifying slowly to be able to bolt into the car. 1st gen MR2 seats pretty much fit, but the holes have to be cut a bit with a dremel to move them to line up exactly with the holes for the bolts on the car. Picked a set of two up a while back for $28 total at u-wrench-it, and now it's time to put them in a car.

Got rid of my Metro ricer 'vert the other day, traded it for a red AE86 Corolla (The one that my friend bought from Tinman months ago). So nice to have one more cylinder and a RWD stick again

This kind of cunt usually ends up going psycho on you should you dare to honk your horn to let her know she is about to cause a pileup with an illegal left turn, or by running that stop sign that she just can't be bothered to notice. Women driving SUVs give me the worst problems, since it seems that anything that doesn't at least come up to their windows must not exist to them... Or maybe they think that driving an SUV with no passengers or cargo gives them absolute right of way regardless of the laws dissenting opinion?

My father is the executive director of a law firm back home in L.A. My father and mother combined make about $250k/year. That may not be "rich" by some people's standards, but I used to get an "allowance" of about $1400/mo to fuck off in Toledo doing absolutely nothing other then tanning 7 days a week, playing video games, driving over 100mph to and from Michigan and getting fucked up back in 2003. Today I don't use their money anymore. I work at a pizza place, and sometimes ask them for some money in an emergency. Sometimes I get some money for a holiday, or some expensive gift cards. Honestly, I feel like I deserve the money I have now more then the money they gave me then, but I can say that looking back I do wish I had hidden away a good chunk of that "allowance" so that I could be spending it on the one thing my parents refuse to pay for. College.

WTF is everyone in the area of Roche Dr. near Otani smoking? Every fucking day, regardless of what car I'm driving that day or what time it is, I have to SLAM on my fucking brakes and horn because some cunt is driving on the wrong side of the road, AGAIN. Already been hit there once in my probe and the fucker ran. Saw a wreck there the other day. Come on CPD... This many wrecks, and opportunities to write tickets, and it's being ignored? Never mind that the bowling alley AND resturaunt both serve alcohol so they could probably get a good number of DUI arrests daily. I can't fucking wait to move outta this place when the lease is up.

I had my old Metro hatchback worked on by Rolla and he did a damn good job. He told me exactly what parts I needed to pick up on my own to get the job done, and stuck to the price he quoted me. Quick turnaround too.

It isn't just trucks that drive too slow, it's damn near everyone on 161 between sinclair and Little Turtle. Only car I've been driving lately is my vert for work, and I feel slowed down by everyone else. People need to feel shame if a NA 3-cyl powered Geo Metro is going faster then they are.
