  1. Joe, I hate to admit how busy I am with fam now that spring is coming up...but if we had a mini-CR fishing event at Lake Desrochers I would definitely make every effort to make it out. Can you catch catfish with spoons? That's pretty much all I fish with from a lure standpoint.
  2. Duuude...that wagon looks great. I would NOT black out the wheels. Your CTS has a lot of brightwork and silver/machined/polished wheel finish balances out the sides a lot. That stance is sick.
  3. MD Transmission up in Delaware by Doc's Hangout? That's where I've gotten work done before, but admittedly I don't know how much modern stuff they do.
  4. Throw some Corroseal or POR-15 on the support edges in the engine bay (pics 3-4)! Would hate for you to do all this work to have it rot from the inside out after you put body panels on!
  5. Kerry, well done. Though, I think Superfly featured a heavily-modified Eldorado, not a Caballista Corvette. What might help those among us for perspective is the poor quality of Malaise-Era vehicles in the '70s and early '80s, and the absence of much competition. What is a CRG (certified rich guy) to do with $20-25k to spend on the greatest car he can buy outside of Mercedes or Rolls-Royce? There was no Lexus, no BMW 6-series/8-series...the PLC (Personal Luxury Coupe) market was dominated by Ford/GM, with Chrysler doing some bit players to barely stay viable before Lee Iacocca had to save Chrysler from dying with the K-car in 1982. So, in an era of safe sex and dangerous cars...you didn't have a lot of choice aside from some crazy customizers to REALLY show off on the boulevard on Friday night, or in front of the disco every Saturday.
  6. It's got MARBLE dash/door inserts. This thing looks like a sidekick car for "League of Extraordinary Gentlemen" YOU, SIR...are out of line with that comment. I'm loving those port-o-walls on a white car. Wondering if they'd look good on a gold-metallic Lincoln.
  7. Dang, Chris! You're a busy man! (As usual) Hey, Joe...I'd be interested in coming out to help fish. Would be even cooler if someone - not me - wanted to help clean and pan-fry filets straight from the pond. I'll bring the tackle and beer.
  8. That's an aftermarket custom touch. Nothing like a CRT beaming microwave radiation through your thigh into your balls.
  9. Registered! A thought: over the weekend, I was reminiscing at the history of CR. In a social-media-based society, the format of a forum has largely gone by the wayside, yet CR still perseveres. Having grown up with CR since my early 20s, I attribute it to being less about flash-in-the-pan splashes of content, and more about ongoing conversations between passionate people across a wide, Ohio-based footprint...without the commercial/political force of outside influencers. That's a difficult combination to balance, but a valuable feature that's kept the site viable through so many social changes over the last 15 years. Not being naive to internet privacy, I am conccerned that Ohio Racing will be a little more open to Google searching...not as big of a concern in my 20s, moreso now in my late 30s. Will anyone be able to see what's posted like other sites or will there be a privacy firewall?
  10. I'm looking for Kerry to chime in on this one...being the automotive savant he is. I do remember seeing something similar while watching some interview of George Barris. No joke, that thing is so gaudy it's cool. Is it me or do a bunch of those photos not show up when you click on the thumbnails?
  11. Welcome back! Please provide pics when you can of the CTS wagon. Hope to see you at Cars and Coffee sometime!
  12. Sounds like a cool idea, just never thought of that as an option? Would it be DIY?
  13. Carpenter Ants hollowed out the timbers over the last 5 or so years. I'd sprinkle Terro down and use pest control sprays religiously. The detritus you're seeing is leftover fall debris that I'm just now cleaning up. No doubt that soil/moisture exposure in certain parts contributed to rotting, though.
  14. https://www.menards.com/main/building-materials/landscaping-materials/landscaping-timbers/7-x-9-x-8-used-railroad-ties/p-1444422200987-c-12369.htm?tid=735728426828752827 Damn...that's a beefy piece of timber for $12 a piece! Still would be off at some points by an inch. Would be a lot more ground work to make it fit.
  15. +1. https://www.municode.com/library/oh/upper_arlington/codes/code_of_ordinances?nodeId=PT11UNDEOR_ART7DEGU_S7.17RECO § 7.17 - RESIDENTIAL CONSERVATION. (A) Purpose and intent: Residential investment and infill redevelopment is encouraged to maintain and expand the property values in Upper Arlington. In the design of new single-family homes, major additions that exceed fifty percent (50%) of the total square footage, building footprint, or livable area of the existing structure, and for detached garages over four hundred (400) square feet in area, the following guidelines shall be considered: BLAH BLAH BLAH $ $ $ $ $ $ $ $$ $ $ $ $ BLA-BLAH BLAHHH BLAHHHH $ KA-CHING $ :gabe: *Yes, even a carport is treated as a seperate building in UA. In this case, a "detached garage".
  16. Rocky, I can...but the railroad ties at Ohio Mulch look horrible and they also seem to be considerably bigger (maybe 8"x8"?). Scott, if you see the top pic, center left...the tie has rotted away so much that you can see the rebar sticking out. That can't be good for kids or barefeet, hence why I need to do this.
  17. http://imgur.com/DllqUlLl.jpg http://imgur.com/t3WstUdl.jpg Anyone ever replaced rotten timber around a patio or garden? I saw that Menard's has 8' lengths of treated 6"x6" for about $15. Any sources for 15-20 pieces and experience doing this would be great.
  18. +1. These are great cars and visually you've got a good example of one, but IMHO without it driving well, it's a lot to ask for when there are a good number of these out there driving for similar money. https://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/detail/694754447/overview/
  19. Paul asked at Doc's last night so I thought I'd provide a quick update. After a month of productive back-and-forth with City of UA Code, I got the email on Friday to fill out for a building permit! I'm assuming that this means I pay $56 and go to town putting this bish up???: I'll confirm on Monday/Tuesday. Funny thing was, the Code Enforcement Officer was like "Please provide an elevation and schematic plot of what the carport will look like." Uhhh...do I look, like an architect? I ended up photoshopping this gem for teh win. BEFORE: http://imgur.com/QJnhtrPl.jpg AFTER: http://imgur.com/4dy6c4sl.jpg Very professional, I know  SCOREBOARD, motherfuckers...it worked. So, with the building permit filled out - listing me as the general contractor:eek: - I'll confirm that I'm OK to buy the kit and get it here. Also, I know it's right next to the basketball hoop, but that thing has been there a long time (rusty) and may have to come down as soon as I see a Goalrilla (or some other rolling b-ball hoop stand) that I can score used. If I end up redoing the driveway in coming years, it'll definitely come down. Goal is to have the carport up before the Lincoln comes out of storage next month!
  20. I left at 1am and hardly anyone else on the roads. It was great. I will say coming down Riverside Drive, there was a black early '00s Altima with steelies (no hubcaps) and no license plate light that came out of West Case in front of me while I was rolling through the light. I backed off a good bit and this guy was ALL OVER THE ROAD. I slowed waaaaay back and he ran the red-light making a left onto Hayden/Bethel going up to Sawmill and was totally erratic. I only say all of that because, after I got safely home, it weighed on me that I didn't call 911. I hope the driver didn't hit anyone else (he was close!).
  21. LOL, that was good. "Oh is that, a 'power-7'?"
  22. Doc, thanks as always for opening up the hangout. Great to shoot the shit with people! Despite the rain it was nice to have a drive up and back to myself as well.
  23. Thanks, guys. The dood is getting back from a trip later than expected. Will be doing it another weekend. Will check out Tractor Supply Company.
  24. I'm supposed to help a buddy take down a combine this weekend for scrap. Years ago, I got a Procutter torch/regulator set, but I never got tanks or gas. I welcome CR'e recommendation for the best/cheapest place to get me hooked up!
