I wasn't. "Discretion is the better part of valor" 1. proverb it is better to avoid a dangerous situation than to confront it.

I have a cutting job that doesn't require full tanks of oxygen and acetylene. Does anybody have any partially fill tanks that I can use? I just don't use my torch and regulator enough to justify buying in storing full tanks in my garage for the next 10 years. I have a ProCutter torch and regulator kit that's never been used… I bought it in Florida for use on a project but never got the tanks. I do need to use the torch now. Please let me know if there's anyone who can help?

Sorry for the late response, but thank you for the detailed review! Ryobi's got a cheap PW for sale: http://www.homedepot.com/p/Ryobi-Ryobi-1-600-PSI-1-2-GPM-Electric-Pressure-Washer-RY141600/205566079?cm_mmc=hd_email-_-GC_C2-_-20170330_20170330_GC_FW09_C2_3016793-_-VA_PRESSURE_WASHER&et_rid=77508235 To what you're saying, it does seem like a long hose and a unit that rolls are minimums for a good PW experience. Plus, I don't want to spend $80 on a cheap PW where I'll still have to pay more for a soap/foam cannon.

I want to know the details around that lease....

If anyone else on CR reads this thread and decides not to engage in conversation.... ...are they being close-minded?

ill take it for scrap if no one buys it

I haven't done the math yet, but here's how I would look at the ROI for a SolarCity tile roof: 1) Determine if a higher-end roof for your house is desirable based on the following criteria: - Location in the state/region/country for solar power. - Real-estate market - value of housing - Size/quality of house 2) If your home is in a market that justifies the investment, compare solar roof tiles as a 50-year replacement for other alternative roofing material options: spanish tile, slate, rubber/synthetic shingle alternatives. 3) Look at possible power generation based on area of roof, and power consumption needs to operate the home. Calculate breakeven. 4) Determine current/proposed tax incentives or utility give-backs for smart power grid participation. I'd say that the current presidential administration is not going to be too accomodating of tax credits for green energy initiatives, but it still doesn't negate the benefit of a high-quality roofing solution for any house...it just pushes the ROI out further.

This is actually a very well-written way of looking at the situation. Well done, Kerry. I'm curious what yours and greg's thoughts are around isolated stories of transgender females (born male, with predominantly male physique) dominating certain female sports. As a theory, could I indoctrinate my son into thinking that he really should identify as a girl, then have him try out for the girl's basketball team? What social constructs are being violated that shouldn't be in this situation?
-
Because the majority of suburban dwellers in America that subscribe to a Judeo-Christian upbringing and world/life view don't see enough evidence that being transgender is anything else than a choice, unless you're watching some really interesting vids on the internet.
-
I would certainly agree that the majority of Americans would rather not be challenged by someone about their beliefs - because they are comfortable with their lives and want to focus positive thoughts and energy into building a better tomorrow for themselves - or at least to make themselves happy on a daily basis. SJW's force conversations to open minds, but at a sacrifice of decency and respect for others that haven't felt the need for intellectual discovery to open their minds for themselves. The problem with multiple societal identifications for gender, sexual preference, race, religion, etc is that it becomes difficult for certain people to understand - and respect - the differences. With that lack of comfort around common understanding, friction is created. No one HAS to take a side, but in any discussion, labels are created for us to still associate people into categories in our minds. It's human nature. For many, it's easier to not engage in dialogue around this topic in the first place to avoid unintentionally offending someone.

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/features/2017-03-23/inside-alabama-s-auto-jobs-boom-cheap-wages-little-training-crushed-limbs I remember back in the early 2000's how Governor Bob Taft (a dimwitted crony of a man if there ever was one) declared to Hyundai that the Great State of Ohio didn't need to offer any tax incentives to lure the Korean car giant to build their assembly plant in Ohio - we already had a strong automotive manufacturing and supplier base in place. Alabama offered over $100MM in tax abatements and income tax incentives for Hyundai to build their proposed North American HQ and Sonata plant in their state. It worked; in just over 5 years, the Hyundai plant became one of the most advanced manufacturing facilities in the world and a city of over 75k people grew - as well as other manufacturers/suppliers - around it where there wasn't anything before. After reading this article, I'm torn: while any region would benefit from this economic injection, is it too high of a humanitarian cost? People get injured and, sadly, killed every day in the push for more productivity.....certainly exponentially more so in third-world countries. But look at the high overall benefit that the area receives. Is it worth it? Interesting observations that, even in 2017, the USA can have major manufacturing problems similar to sweatshops and plants in poorer parts of the planet. Again, though...is it worth it?

^^^Then the SJW's will criticize you for being closed-minded and not wanting to understand the plight of the protected class. The next step after identification is education(indoctrination?)...you need to learn the way they want you to think. I'm being a little tongue-in-cheek here, but it's becoming difficult to interact with others especially in a professional/educational/political setting without HAVING to take a side.

That's really helpful, thanks. Curious what the size of the house is? While my cheapa$$ recognizes that is a CHUNK of change, a 7-year breakeven is incredible, considering the roof should last another 30+ years after that. Florida is wacky...I remember $300-400/month electric bills just to heat our house in winter (and that was really just to keep the inside around 68-70 when it got down to upper 40s/low 50s at night).
-
That's a sweet setup, Gerg. Any idea what the ballpark cost of all that is? That's a good amount of electrical work.

Congrats on the step upward. Was just in Colorado a couple of weeks ago for a week of skiing in Breckenridge; weather was stupid nice. We'll miss ya at CC&C!

Thing sounds awesome!

Photovoltaic cells still work in cloudy conditions. Ohio gets about 60% of the sunlight that Arizona receives. The tech still works, albeit admittedly at a lower efficiency level. Still a heck of a durable roofing option.

OK, first off...that's fucking FLYING. Props to M2K Motorsports. Secondly, that stance, those wheels, and that Gulf-inspired livery moved my loins. :masturboy::megusta:

Damn, Brent! A few of us were wondering where you went. VW's had a few LARGE lots (on of them being by the old Pontiac, MI Superdome) where they are storing their TDI's that were bought back from Dieselgate all over the country. Interested to hear what VW decides to do with all that rolling stock...

I tried to vote, but with all the pop-up ads I may have inadvertently signed myself up for a couple of marketing lists instead.

+1. Roadkill will goo over it since Finnegan and Freiburger are sponsored by Dodge...retired Baby Boomers will buy one to reminisce about the old Duster they had in the '70s....some hardcore drag racers will get it....last up will be the InstaGrammers/YouTubers who will buy/lease one to get some eyeballs on their pages. :gabe:
