  1. BMW: Full poly suspension upgrade. All new exhaust system Cleetus: Lowered I-beams, small rust repair on bed. Also have all the parts in possession. Work/Famiry first I guess...:fa:
  2. http://www.sacbee.com/2013/11/18/5923704/elio-motors-judicial-success-continues.html I've been following the development of the Elio Motors 3-wheeler over the last year, and I find it interesting that many states considered enclosed 3-wheelers as motorcycles (requiring drivers have a special endorsement). While I liked the idea that a 3-wheeler could be insured as a motorcycle, hopefully making it considerably cheaper to operate and far simpler to manufacture (eliminating a lot of the safety/emission requirements of traditional cars. I did NOT think about a motorcycle endorsement requirement to operate one... Is that the same for the Campagna T-Rex and the Morgan 3-Wheeler? I'm assuming Can-Am Spyders won't be affected, since they still use motorcycle controls...
  3. Make sure you wear a brightly-colored outfit and crazy-looking headgear while waiting 12 hours in line to save $30 on a cooker you'll never use. Otherwise, I won't be able to separate you out from the rest of the damn idiots around you.
  4. "I love the autonomous car idea!!! I'd buy one when they first come out!!!" "Quick question...how does the robot actuate the clutch pedal and shifter if I'm having the car drive me around?" "I'm sorry...did you say that it's automatic-only???" DENIED
  5. Regarding the gold star...whose fecal matter is on it now? That might affect it's refund value.
  6. KK: Drywall spackle makeup, lop-sided pancake boob. BROWN BAGGER
  7. Honestly, as someone that travels a lot for business, I welcome the self-driving car. I hope more and more people park their asses in the right lane to check Facebook while I navigate around them and to my destination. Let me know when the technology is adapted (and adopted) to a point where it won't be any more of a cost option than SiriusXM/Navigation is today.
  8. THEY FIXED OBAMACARE?!?1?1
  9. This is the most excitement I've had all day. It's like Hannukkah on November 19th!!!
  10. FWIW, there is a guy here in downtown C'Bus that has a black S4. It's clearly a V8, and even with thick high-rise windows I hear him pipe up from the stoplight and it sounds FUGGIN' AWESOME... Righteous project. Keep up the good work!
  11. +1. Same here...it was like the Pinewood Derby of LeMons: 1) Make the thinnest wedge you can, starting from the front of the block. You'll want enough material in the front that the axle(nail) slots are surrounded by enough wood to prevent it from breaking (saw some break as well). 2) Cut the rear at an angle to eliminate any "overhang" behind the rear wheel. 3) I can't remember if I used coins or one of the lead plates that screw into the block underneath. Minimum wood, maximum weight. 4) i used the powdered graphite. In retrospect after reading Scott's post above, I know now there is no product more slick than Pledge. I clean my dining room table, and invariably wipe out on the wood floor from overspray. Shit's Teflon in spray form. Use that. 5) Lightly scuff the surface of the tires. Just enough to get the shine off. I also sanded the edges of the "tread" to eliminate flash and round off the contact patch. 6) Does your son build plastic models? Use whatever decals are left over. I had military plane insignia, hot rod flames, etc, all over my car. Winning the Pinewood Derby is definitely something that seems silly, but I still remember it to this day. I will say, after winning, I was all about show from then on. I had a Pinewood Derby racer with a bunch of leftover plastic model parts glued on it. Big ol' Roots blower, zoomie headers, painted the wheels white and blue like BMW roundels, thing had '33 Ford headlights with taillights from a Corvette, decals galore, fighter pilot sitting in the middle...
  12. Sounds like you just need some new fronts, as you won't be driving the Neon much in a few months...
  13. We are very lucky to live in the age we are... I've got a lot of respect for our forefathers and what they went through.
  14. To paraphrase Regular Car Reviews: MY HEART GOES OUT TO THE VICTIMS OF URRRGGHHHNNHNNHHHH Thanks for explaining again.....and again.....and again that you've got heaping helpings of your sadness to throw around. You're an inspiration to us all, and I'm sure the poor family that made a few regrettable decisions is sleeping better tonight. ...especially considering one of them is dead from playing "fail chicken" with cops. Looking forward to another post from you, reaffirming your sorrow, self-deprication, and scorn for fellow CR members.
  15. In the CR Court of Public Opinion, I am the judge, motherfucker.:fuckyeah: Smoking, driving males that are sexually active with their girlfriends are adults. This guy wanted "suicide by cop" and his dad accelerated the process. Had he survived the steal-dad's-truck stunt, he would've done something different. He apparently thought he could escape radio, dodge being shot at by police officers TWICE, and get off with a warning after putting the public in danger and damaging property (personal, public, and police) multiple times. Not surprisingly, his assumptions were incorrect. /DARWIN. Honestly, Ben...reading your responses, are you seriously that naive to try and find a work-around from this dude's personal responsibility, or just playing devil's advocate about the different factors that influenced the outcome? You must be an awesome Monday-morning quarterback!
  16. Welp, looks justified in my eyes: didn't stop, nearly hit people, damaged property, continued aggressive moves against the cops...
  17. Joe, once you have kids... Medical bills, haircuts, cheques to some drive/fundraiser, programs, uniforms, food, broken shit, blah blah blah... I can verify we're far more frugal than most families when it comes to managing living expenses, but living the good family life costs money.
  18. As a father, that is a horrible situation and I genuinely feel for the family. However, taking that story at face value, that is one stupid kid if he refused to obey orders from police. The pic shows one beat-up F-250 waaaaay off-road, and the kid sounded like a menace. There's always more to it, though. I'm dressed in a suit, driving the speed limit and my a$$hole puckers when a cop passes me on the road. Kid sounded like he had a real problem with AUTHORITAH!!!
  19. It's an interesting psychological question: "If you abandon your hobby, what else would you do?" For car guys, so much of what makes us automotive/mechanical enthusiasts transfers into other areas of life. Some will focus on other projects, from landscaping/yardwork to home repair to small-engine work. For me, this past year was cray cray. I haven't had a garage for 7 months so small items that need attention on Cleetus and the Passat went unrepaired...but through all of that I still had a great year, switched jobs, enjoyed my family. Whatever extra money I usually wasted on car parts or car products was absorbed into home upgrades and bills. :fa:
