I can't take anything you say seriously with Spooderman as your avatar.

If it's like previous years, it'll run under 315, then down past Bravo, Target, etc... Kinnear/Kenny across the railroad tracks will be your best shot, or S.B. exit off of 315 will still be open to get into Lennox Town Center (read: Easton cruise will NOT be affected). EDIT: Stupid work firewall...I can't get on their site!

Is the normal Plasti-Dip finish more of a matte/satin (from what I've seen on the site)? I'd still keep my truck red... Interesing idea, as I actually get to keep the "patina" on the original paint, yet seal it off and give it a new, uniform coat of color that is cheap and low-maintenance, as well as repairable. I also get the impression that the color won't fade...Plus cleanup is a breeze, I'm assuming the VOC smell is nonexistant, I don't have to mess with primer, and rust protection won't get any better provided I do it correctly. Only problem I see is the truck bed...no way Plasti-Dip will take even light abrasive abuse from loads of mulch or trash/yard debris... http://t0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcTc5LHd_LHHAERr_dt7ajXO9OBhQuVO5NKbb2cnYSoW9G0JIift F**k the Wagner Power Painter...can anyone tell me if you can shoot Plasti-Dip with an HVLP gun, or is the material too thick for the tip?

I was at NTB in Hilliard/Mill Run a couple of months ago, and the manager had a Mustang GT he did in Plasti-Dip. It looked good. On a scale of 1-10 I'd rate it a 7; at least uniform in coverage, all one color, hides blemishes. Plus, he got a set of 18" Cobra wheels from a farm boy for $200 on CL and they looked really good after Plasti-Dip. Hmmm...Plasti-Dip my truck?

The only other (riskier) investment you could look into is a government or corporate bond on the secondary market, but those can be confusing, and some of them do not have a guarantee of repayment. If you want to look into that, I can give you a contact in Grove City to talk to.

Shop the community banks (Heartland, Delaware, Insight, etc...) and local Credit Unions (KEMBA, Telhio, etc...) to see what they are offering on the 6month side. Working for a big bank, I can tell you NO ONE is offering more than 1% for a year CD or Money-Market account on the secondary market...anything gov't(FDIC, SIPC) insured.

Welp... Visited Ohio Auto Kolor on W. Broad and met with Mike. Great guy...definitely the right shop to get information from (Thanks, AJ!) HOWEVER... Paint - any red kolor I want, matte/satin finish, metallic, WTF-ever, $216.71/gal Hardener - $53.83/qt Reducer (thinner for spray) $30.38/qt Rust converter (for the frame) - $25.42 Respirator - $24.10 WITH TAX................$374.09 Aside from the price of materials, my new worries are that I will still be a little worried about overspray and SMELL going into my neighbors' yard. Also, I remember in HOT ROD Magazine (and Mike confirmed it) that if I set up a plastic tent in my garage - even with a blower fan - my house WILL smell like curing paint for the next couple of weeks...definitely something I don't want either. I'm posting these details so others can learn what I'm learning...there IS no $100 paint job!!! :fuuuu::fuuuu::fuuuu:

+1. Aesthetic_Influx. However, he's been slammed with work for his current company...I don't even think he's on CR much anymore. Killer design skillz though...

I'm looking at repainting my Ford truck red again, but I would like it to be a satin/matte finish. Is there anyone on the board that works with DuPont/PPG/etc? I'd like to use a primer/single-stage color process for simplicity. I've looked extensively at the "cheap paint jobs" people have shared on the internet but I'd like to shoot for something that will be of slightly higher quality. I've got the HVLP gun with regulator, water-separator, 80ga air compressor, etc...I've used it to lacquer-paint furniture in the past, but this will be my first car/truck. Any paint supply contacts would be appreciated. Thanks!

Unfortunately, as I read many of these posts I realize I must be the "wierd neighbor"! :fa: I'm grinding metal at 11pm on a Sunday night.... I had a Ford truck sitting up on jackstands with no engine, grille/radiator, or front wheels for the last 8 months...easily viewable by anyone passing by... I used to start my diesel truck up on a winter morning to warm it up, with a clatter that could be heard for miles... Paint's peeling off of my roof eaves.... Lawn usually goes unmowed for a couple of weeks in a row... AND I HELICOPTER MY PEN0R5 IN FRONT OF THE WINDOW EVERY NIGHT!

I'm hoping my one-owner '00 Passat with 300k miles will be worth a mint in 2030!

http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2012-04-30/rusty-mini-fetches-65-382-beats-keith-richards-pontiac.html Rich people LOL. I love how this article softly ridicules how a beautiful '50s convertible owned by Keith Richards went for cheaper than this pile of junk... ...and I'm an expert on piles of junk!

On a side note, I wear OSHA-glasses ALL THE TIME now when I'm working on cars or even mowing the lawn. I had a shard hit my eyelid...literally millimeters from my eye. Combine that with a huge drop of oily dirt right in my field of sight when working under a car one day made me realize that safety glasses are cheap insurance.

I got all kinds of goodies from Harbor Freight yesterday, flap- and grinding-wheels, a $20 4.5" angle grinder, and some split cowhide gloves. Shoulda got the $60 auto-dimming mask as well! The other thing that hurts are my eyelids...I tried the "seen-it-all-the-time-on-Xtreme 4X4" method of positioning the tip, shutting my eyes, and then cracking off a tackweld. You know it's bright when you see the pink light through your closed eyelids! Apparenty a dozen tackwelds at about 1-2ft of distance will burn just as well! Feels like someone sandpapered my eyelids. :fuuuu:

Laugh it up, Tinman, AJ, other fabricators... Just for fun I'm going to "shave" the bumpers on my Ford. Last night around 10pm, I prepped the bumper holes with a flap-wheel on my angle grinder. Then, I tacked in two bolts on the front. Flipping to the back, I filled in the gap between the bolt and bumper hole with a weld pool on one side, and tacked a washer on the other. Seeing as how the bumper bolted solidly back on the truck and it was now very late, I called it a night...very proud that my suburban butt could still make a good, clean weld using a Lincoln Electric SP175. Took a shower, and realized my face felt really hot. Got out and studied myself in the mirror...I spent maybe 10-15minutes welding, and I gave myself a sunburn! It was very minor, but on my forehead I can see where my welding goggles ended and my exposed forehead began! Top Tip: Use a full-face shield when welding, even if it's a couple bolts' worth of tacking and filling!
