So, where do you think the best steak is in Cbus? I love Mitchell's.... but am open to trying other things. A few years ago I had a Fillet at Due Amici. It was good. Also, had a couple good steaks at Hyde park... but no "hair-blow-backer's" There's a place in Louisville called Jeff Ruby's that is fabulous. and in Pittsburgh a place called Capital Grille (also in Chicago and other cities).
-
I saw the 60 dollar steak and scoffed. I would take a 48 dollar ribeye at Mitchell's or 54 dollar Delmonico from Capital Grille (not in Cbus) over that ANY day of the week. 60 bucks because you are eating on a shit-smell lake? scoff, scoff, scoff....

Agreed, Went there with the wife 2 months ago. Looks like a place you would go to in Hilton head for a nice dinner... BOY, WAS I DISSAPOINTED.... Went up and had a couple drinks on the rooftop bar. Lake Smelled like shit and looked like shit. Went down to be seated in the room with all the windows on the water.... BUGS EVERYWHERE on the windows next to our table... also, smelled like shit. Looked at the menu, not one thing I was interested in. Got up, left the table. The hostess stopped us and asked if anything was wrong. I told her politely "we are just feeling like going somewhere else" and the manager spotted us, ran over and asked what the issue was. and I again politely said "its not a huge deal, we just decided to do something else". Went to mellow mushroom and had some bomb-ass pizza and beers!!! I was considering writing Dave Bianconi (in a nice tone, not an asshole) to tell him that the place was not up to what I expected for such a successful entrepreneur. I honestly thought about giving him ideas about how to improve it. I'm sure he's losing money on the place. Spent a shit ton to develop it and it is not quite the "crowning achievement" he was hoping for as a hobby.

Some truth to what you said. I certainly haven't turned my nose up to any of it. in fact, the only place I have not liked at all was Brio in Easton. Terrible Carbonara.

Do you have to be Italian to like Italian food? To know Italian food? Moreover, if I perceive something as "authentic" tasting and so does 99% of America... And i am looking for that similar taste to be replicated, then why wouldnt someone tell me "heres where you can get what you perceive as authentic" instead, the one-uppers on a car board try and argue what taste is truly authentic? Allow me to rephrase my original question. "With the mindset of what 99.9% of Americans perceive to be authentic Italian food... Where can I get that in Columbus"
-
Didn't you just make a thread about these very same pics??
-
I have yet to experience a true "great" authentic Italian joint in Columbus. Pasquale's was ok-to-good, but not how my either of my aunt's make their sauce (Italians from Youngstown). Cardone's was ok-to-good... food that didn't "amaze" me. Giamarcos pizza is good and so is their marinara. Carfagna's kitchen is good, their sauce needs more garlic. I'm sure there's about 10 that I'm forgetting. So that must tell you how memorable they must have been. I have heard that LaScala is very authentic tasting. Can anyone confirm?

If you are going to build a rifle... Don't piece it together out of parts that you could buy a great rifle with from the start (BCM, Daniel, etc). Just buy that brand of rifle??? If you build, do a billet custom gun. It makes sense. If you don't want the hassle then go to Vance's and buy a DDm4v5 and be DONE with it. Fuck a piston AR. I will say, if you are going to build, White oak's LPK is very nice.

THE 30k MILLIONAIRE!! Got that 06 range rover last week! Shopping at Nordstrom thanks to American Express! Copped that limited edition G-Shock for his birthday, lookin fresh! Decked out sittin at the park street patio sippin on a microbrew. Talkin bout how he's "about to make some career moves and make it big" .... Going home to a 600.00/month apartment in Grandview and in debt up to his eyeballs
-
Someone on CR coined the term "30K millionaire" about people who go to the Arena District. I thought that was insanely funny!

I was merely attempting to make a point about income vs. debt.

its not always what you make... its about what you have "outgoing" that helps you decide what you can afford. Look in the neighborhoods that have 400-600K homes, a lot of their driveways are peppered with Hondas and Toyotas. Because, they choose to spend a larger amount on their home. Unless you are sledhead, which apparently that dude can probably afford a 1-2M home and a bevy of lambos. As a hypothetical example: If I were to clear 11,000 a month myself after taxes and my bills/debt is 2200.00 (my wife and I split everything 50/50) I'm "sitting pretty" and can afford to buy almost any car I want and still make the payments with money leftover. I am 30 years old with no kids and very little "foolish" debt. Transversely, If I (hypothetically) cleared 15,000 per month after taxes but had 13,000 outgoing then I would have to buy a more practical (payment) car. But alas, I am a cheapskate and got to the point of almost purchasing a used GTR and couldn't stomach the 1K/month payment (after putting 10K down) so I turned the deal down. In all reality, I could buy a Gallardo, I just couldn't live with myself for doing it. and my wife would be PISSSED.... because I didn't get her one (J/K). Edit - I mean to offend no one by this, just an example

Getting a non-cookie cutter rail is what will set your gun apart from others... seekins SP3R v2 not my gun http://i978.photobucket.com/albums/ae267/wile_coyote2/mygrendel2_zpsfe4e9373.jpg

Start with a seekins lower and seekins upper that uses their proprietary rail system. Do a 16 inch heavy barrel (chrome lined) with standard flash hider, grab whatever color Magpul ACS-L or UBR stock you want and get the same color Ergo grip. Buy a BCM ambi charging handle and BCM bolt carrier. If you have the extra coin (when you buy a LPK) get some sort of upgraded 2 stage trigger. It is important that you spare no expense on your barrel and BCG. That build that I described would be pretty cool. The seekins rail system would really make it unique. A good cheap billet set would be "Working mans armory". I have a lower of theirs and I love it. Other good brands are Mega, Noveske, Hogan, And Vltor. Also know that Daniel and Bravo Company make great out-of-the box forged guns!

Oh, I see. Well played.

Under 800 bucks - I have owned a Windham SRC and it ran very well. I think its tough to build a nice gun for under 600. And, 800 is a stretch if you want it to be billet and or freefloat, etc. 800-1200 - I cannot give real word experience but have heard good things about Colt from those that own them. also, a local seller GunEnvy has their own line of AR's that they can do forged or billet and any color you want. For 800-1200 I have built guns that I am very happy with. 1200-2000 - I own a Daniel Defense DDm4v5 and am in love with it! Runs amazing. Requires minimal lubrication. A real Champ. I also have built a very nice billet AR15 with Seekins receivers that I believe is a good value compared to most "out-of-the-box" guns I see with similar prices. At 1200+ dollars its kind of like building vs. buying a house. You can buy a nice gun that has most of what you want or you can build your dream gun exactly how you want it. I assume black rain Guns average about 1500-2500 bucks. For 1600-1800 I would build a nasty gun that would be exactly what I wanted and completely custom.
-
Are you looking for a billet AR? What is your budget? For the money that I see Black Rain guns going for (money) I would build my own. There's just something about their brand that I don't like. Mostly due to the fact that they offer guns with coatings that are juvenile and/or video-game-ish plus the spiked flash hiders and two tone fluted barrels yuck! I don't like that. I know they make guns that don't use those finishes... but I still do not respect it. What is your budget? I am no expert, but maybe I could give some decent advice.
