actually, pressing F8 during POST wont do anything, you have to do it after POST is over, and the computer is actually booting windows.

Well, so much for the Olds. I was dropping a guy off after work today, and some guy driving on older f-150 wasn't paying attention. Point a met up with point b, and some vehicular carnage ensued. Needless to say, the Olds is done for. I am alright, my passenger was fine too. Luckily, dude had insurance and was very honest. Yeah, overheating sounds like your problem. You may want to consider taking the laptop apart, and cleaning it as well as putting some thermal paste on the CPU. It may or may not help you, but it is worth a shot.

got an blowing attachment for your air compressor? blow all of the dust out of it, it could be getting hot. if you have a virus and find that, thats good too. then of course, there is always reformatting....
