Bump for $175 for the two tires.
-
Need a pair of tires for my daily, all seaons, nothing special but must have good tread left and no abnormal wear. Thanks
-
Aye, well it definitely ran well. I'm sure I'm splitting hairs, the car feels good and is hella fun, just curious I guess.
-
True, I very much want to keep the car together and not break anything, I just thought 5500rpm sounded low for an ls1. Can you post your graph so I can compare it to mine?
-
Hmm, so you're saying that if I took it back and re-dynoed it and pulled to say 6500rpms, the graph might show a different powerband? That makes sense in theory, but my graph clearly shows the car going to 5800rpms and the car is already dropping hp and tq, unless it continued revving a few hundred more rpms after releasing the gas pedal?
-
That equation doesn't work out to what my dyno graph shows...the one I have in front of me (I did multiple pulls) shows MAX POWER at 308.4 and MAX TORQUE at 327.3. The torque peaks somewhere between 3800-4500rpm, its hard to tell since its so flat with only a couple tiny bumps. And the HP peaks at about 5300, again hard to tell but only because the graph printer cut a small half inch section out/left blank. But if I use that equation.... (327.3 x 3800) / 5252 = 236.8 HP Or.... (327.3 x 4500) / 5252 = 280.4 HP Both of those figures are lower than my peak HP of 308.4 on this graph, unless those figures are saying that's how much HP I have at that RPM?
-
And this is probably a retarded question, because I'm pretty sure you can't, but can you 'move' the powerband with simply just tuning, or does it require actual parts. Like I know different cams offer power in different areas of the powerband, like low/mid/high etc, just didn't know if there was anything else involved.
-
Yeah, I mean unless I'm reading this graph wrong...it appears that MAX HP is at or just a hair under 5500rpm and MAX TQ is at or about 4500rpm. I dunno much about the LS1 or dynos, I'm learning as we speak, but I guess I gathered from reading a bunch that these cars liked top end and revved higher than say a 5.0l mustang.
-
My car is auto, and currently shifts at 5500rpm. Using previous knowledge and glancing around on ls1tech it seems that ls1s breathe more up top and lots of people are shifting between 6200-6500 on a basically stock or bolt on car. Now I know from my dyno that peak hp is about 5500, so what would revving the car out to 6500 do for me? Wouldn't it be diminishing returns? I.E., you're hp/tq is decreasing as you increase your revs? Or is it a catch 22 because the car has to shift more times and I'm in a higher gear going through the traps that I may actually be suffering at the track? I'm just trying to see what the general consensus was, and what everyone felt was a safe rpm to rev to.
-
lol, i hear ya, i'm slowly coming to the realization of that myself, hey my car runs/drives great, is fun to cruise in, and sounds nice, so just enjoy it. props for all the hard work you're putting in.

I dunno what your car payment is Jeff, but have you shopped around for insurance quotes? I guess you could have a lot of points or something, but even at 19 my insurance wasn't that bad and I had 6points/suspended license. If you're dead set on getting another car, make sure you can even sell your Mustang for what you owe/hopefully have some cash left over, otherwise this post/you looking for another car is pointless because you'll have negative equity you have to pay in order to sell it. Then I'd try and either get rides/drive some people's cars that are what you think you might like, and you'll probably be surprised. I've had a tons of cars, and been in even more, and I know there was a big difference between what I thought it'd be and what it really was. And decide what you want the car for? Dig, roll, daily fun, track only? Etc, because a high boost turbo fwd civic probably wont' be as much fun at the drag strip as it will be on the hwy, and vice versa for a NA mustang gt or something similar. GL man, its never easy. I do know of a certain turbo rx7 that may be for sale VERY shortly UNDER your budget...

I think all cable companies change the bills for no reason, just to see if you are paying attention, otherwise they make bank. I've had TW/Insight/WOW, and have ALWAYS had to call every couple months to complain about my bill changing, its fucking retarded, especially when they send you those letters stating "your price won't change til XXX" fucking ripoff. Now my mom's having the same problem with WOW.

Builds coming along nicely...what's your goals with the car when finished?
-
hey cool! its purple

Durr...I already had $2k for the turbo kit....he was saying $3k ON TOP OF THAT, and you don't need the Kmember on a foxbody, and you can pick up parts used...So yeah, no where near $3k right off the bat. kthxbye
-
Not to get started, but I'm sure over time that'd be true. I mean I know Chad's $2k kit won't get everything done, but it definitely doesn't STILL require $3k additional in parts. But it happens with all cars, I've spent OVER a grand in the past month on my car, and its still stock besides a lid/filter. Gotta pay to play.
-
Welcome, how much you thinking for the foxbody? I know someone looking...
-
You can find clean LS1 cars with good mileage on them for that price range, just gotta keep your eyes open. Mine's been a great daily and survived a dozen track passes last Friday.
-
Dude....turbo foxbody...you already know mustangs, just get a 5.0 and end the world. Seriously, buy a clean 5.0l for $3-$4k, buy chad's kit for under $2k, and own honda's plus other shit everywhere. Or buy a beat/cheap foxbody for $1500, and do the same. Liability or even full coverage on a 20year old car can't be much, even if it's a 'sports car'. If anything a GSR would have HIGHER insurance because they get stolen a bunch. I've had hondas/acuras/mustangs, the mustangs are always cheaper to mod and insure.

13.60 @ 102.xx w/ a 2.2x 60' ... I got the 60' down to a 2.06, but I was hoping for at least low 13's, but the MPH just wasn't there. Car is stock besides a Lid/Filter, so I guess its not horrible for an auto car. Hopefully later this year I'll be back with a stall, lt's, and a couple other small things and go mid 12's. Meh, at least it didn't break!
-
No, I had these on a set of 17's on my other car, my daily. My formula has the 16's.
-
fucker, better not pass me.
-
i could stand to lose 80lbs, but it wouldn't net me 10's...
-
He's been playing great with my sister's 80lb dog, they wrestle/jump around/entertain themselves just fine.
-
It's an Auto car, 4.10's would kill my top-speed/daily cruising. And a taller tire would suck for my stall/stock trans. Ben does have the scoop for sale off his SS, might see how much he wants but the lid was making the car run lean before, so I don't think it's starving for air. Car ain't gonna be an all out race car, I'll probably hit the track once or twice more this summer after this Friday once I get a few more mods, otherwise it'll just be nice weather car to cruise. Don't have the budget to keep up, so not gonna bother trying.
