  1. Yeah I think I have it narrowed down to the accel pump. I pulled the air cleaner back off with the engine off and hit the throttle linkage watching the squirters and no fuel came out the rear 2 barrels and the front kind of just misted not really spraying. Ill take it apart and clean the carb and proly just throw in an accel pump and new needle/seat set.
  2. Im going to look at the carb some more, wonder if the accelerator pump is shot or gummed up. it just acts like its ignition or fuel related. I truly dislike carbs in general. I need to look into the vacuum advance. I reved it to 3k with the timing light and the timing advanced from 4*(spec) at 550rpm idle to 26-28*. so I am more thinking carburetor issues....
  3. something common in these older trucks for that to happen? The motor sounds fairly good and at idle hits on all 8.

  5. Ok helping a buddy out on his 305 in an 86 c10. Its got a 305 with some junk small tube headers, edelbrock 500cfm electric choke carb and stock hei ignition. Got the truck to idle real nice, replaced cap/rotor and plugs. Set the timing to the prescribed 4* with vac advance plugged. When I rev the truck to 3000rpm with adv plugged in it goes to around 25-26*. Truck was dieseling prior to the adjustements now it starts, idles and shuts off clean. But when driving it and you give it part throttle to full throttle is pops and bucks through the intake/carb sprayed all the wires down with water and hei stuff, nothing is arching and then sprayed around the base of carb area with carb clean and did not find any vac leaks. ruled the fuel filter out as well.

  8. Would love to sign up for track day but dont think my schedule will allow. I do plan on going to the next 2 sundays for 1/4 mile t&t at trails. hooking up the brake and 2 step. tightened up the front shocks and see what it will do leaving on the boost
  9. Went out tonight for 1/8 mile test and tune. Still leaving soft on the footbrake with no boost from the line went 6.42@120. Im not really up on the conversion stuff but from my research that is around a 10.08 1/4mile but the mph should be done in 8's? I know they say to multiply your mph by 25% to achieve your 1/4 mile mph so it should of been 150s 60ft best was still a 1.9 This week Ill spend sometime and get the trans brake hooked up and 2 step and see if I cant launch the car this next weekend during some 1/4mile test and tune action.

  14. Well since I suck and did not get the car to my liking to travel to the shootout in indy, I am going tonight to make some more test runs in the car. Still no trans brake or 2 step but figured I will try bringing it up on the converter more to see who the boost builds. how fast in the 1/8 can someone go before needing a comp license from nhra?
  15. depends what pan but fbody/truck/h3/autokraft pan pickup and sump is in the rear. The oil pump is crank driven off the timing chain so it goes pretty much center front of pan to the rear so either side of the oil pan towards the front tops of the rail would be fine. Mine is passenger side -10 about 2-3 inches from the front corner. Not a single drainback problem. I just bought one of those CBR oil blocks for the feed and it is located above the oil filter where that factory cooler block is. those CBR blocks are nice if you are going twins or mounting an aftermarket pressure gauge. I just ran a -4 to my turbo from there.

  18. anyone know or have a contact at NMCA for tech info. I want to know about the headlights, obviously mine is a cyclopse and I need a passenger headlight. I want to run the true street class and the rules just say working lights...(headlights,taillights and turn signals.) It says nothing about placement in stock location. I know it will proly end up hillbilly but wonder if I can place the other headlight anywhere just to say "I have two headlights and they work"
  19. well 50/50 about dragging my shitbox over there to run it in the true street class. gotta get the 2 step and transbrake hooked up and toss a headlight in it somehow.
