  1. I should have mentioned, I now have a 15 mile commute each way...in pretty heavy traffic.
  2. It’s winter and my wife is tired of talking about this so I throw this out to my CR friends... Current situation: 2009 Volvo C70 - wife’s DD 2010 Suburban LTZ - my DD 2011 Camaro SS/RS Convertible - garage queen I need a pickup now that we have some land to care for and, with the kids moved out, we don’t need the people hauling capabilities of the Suburban, as nice as it is to have. What I know: -Camaro will be sold once the weather clears as convertibles tend to fare better in the Spring. Besides I won’t let anyone drive it with salt on the roads anyways. -Suburban will be sold and replaced with a smaller SUV (probably a 2018 Traverse once used ones start hitting lots) for my wife. -Volvo will be sold to help fund whatever car I buy Where I need your help: Option 1 - fun DD (likely a sport sedan - SS, CTSV, or S4) and a beater pickup Or Option 2 - nice pickup to daily (Colorado ZR2, Sierra Denali, Silverado High Country, F150 of some sort) Certainly some of you have had to make this call right? Any regrets? I am leaning towards option 1... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  3. Well said, could not agree more. As a young empty nester (45), I can tell you it is quite the adjustment to not have them around. There is not a day that passes that I don’t miss them and the “burdens” they put on me.
  4. This is not like a pellet stove. I had never seen one of these until I bought this house. It is one of my new favorite things. It has 2 fans run off a computerized thermostat in the house. One fan stokes the fire and the other blows the heat into the house. It is seamless in operation.
  5. Not sure about Paul but I load the wood burner every 6-8 hours. It feeds into my HVAC system. I have a nice even heat throughout the house.
  6. Check out the woodburner I linked before going pellet stove. My FIL uses 2 pellet stoves in his house and was amazed being at my house as the heat is even in every room.
  7. They got 1 MPg better. That is what I read and said f that.
  8. Off topic but why did you not like the SS? I am considering one for a DD.
  9. http://www.airstove.com/ The house I bought has one of these units installed. I cut wood for free and, if I am diligent, the furnace never comes on. It has a thermostat and pumps the hot air into your existing furnace ducting. Even when it was -10 my entire 5000 square foot house was at 68. A single load of wood will last 8-10 hours. It is really an amazing piece of equipment. The unit costs about 2500. (Cannot believe I am agreeing with Paul here....)
  10. Opposite end of reliable and sexy from the CRV but what about the Range Rover Evoque?
  11. Mirano is a nice looking vehicle. My wife is insistent that we need a 3rd row even though the kids are out of the house and it is just her and I.
  12. Volvo XC60? We are trying to stretch to a XC90 but just can’t bring ourselvess to spend that much and my wife thinks the 60 is too small (she’s wrong)
  13. I was just trying to be funny. That being said, I am not sold on Kia quality yet. When I was looking for a car for my daughter I was looking at 2007-2010 Kias - there are some terrible things about them - especially the Kappa 2.4 I think. My parents have leased 2 back-tp-back with no issues but I am just not sure I could pull the trigger yet, especially for a new model.
  14. You make good points but it appears GM invested heavily in the structure and reducing weight rather than added features that are dubious at best (does anyone really need some Of the “gee whiz” features). It will be interesting to see how they drive. I will bet the GMs will be the athletes of the bunch. It also appears that the “base” motor will be the 5.3 which will fare well against the competition.
  15. 2019 for apples to apples - visually it is a toss up to me. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  16. Good catch - subframe connectors are a need to have
  17. Just saw California piece - take out the headers, Cam, and the fun
  18. 1. Exhaust - GMMG or Corsa - I loved both 2. Lid 3. Wheels 4. Lower it (I did just springs - Hotchkis was a good choice) 5. Headers 6. Cam - who can resist the sound of a cammed LS
  19. I don’t hate the new Silverado styling (don’t love it either)- I know I am in the minority. My problem is, when you are investing this kind of coin in a truck you better believe in the reliability. My experience with GM leads me to believe my truck will last. I want to see how Chevy dropped 450 pounds from the trucks. From what I remember, when Ford went all aluminum they only matched the Chevy’s weight - now it is 450 pounds lighter? That will have to pay dividends in performance. I am not one that needs ALL the tech - will gladly sacrifice that for reliability.
  20. Spectrum wants 6,000.00 to hook us up. Pass.
  21. Similar here - 119 a month for 18 up/down. Price of living in the country. I will say service is spotless and, when I call, a dude name Joel answers - every time.
  22. I believe they are optional - for whatever reason they are popular. Go out and look at some of the exotics...
