I have always like them. Almost bought one a couple years back but was out of my price range at the time. IIRC only realy issues were the timeimg belt or gear needed replaced at 60k as for upgrades I'm sure there is a market for it just never looked. Also at the time they were released they were call bmw beaters oh true that was i don't know.

I don't think that hes not in impressed the the cars that you ran in the videos. It's that you were running faster times last year with your old setup and you are showing videos of your new setup that you old setup would beat. He's unimpressed that your new setup is beating cars your oldsetup would beat as well. but thats just me and how I took it, but what do I know...

if you have a good history the dealership may give you some goodwill for it. When I worked at saturn we would something goodwill repairs that did all thier service with us.
