I have up a 357mag myself, extra weight to handle 357 but keep it loaded with 38spl making it very easy for the wife to shoot.

I’d vote grom too. I bought a mini bike for my son when he was like 9 or 10 and it got old fast. I should have opted for a small dirt bike or similar over the mini bike but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I thought the same, never revisited anything….. I keep telling myself I’ll get a fun car again and get back to the old fun stuff but it never seems to happen. When they were babies it was no free time, now it’s no money.

My wife and I stopped spending on each other long ago. We get what we want when we want it, why waste anything on Christmas?

I get ya Otis, but in an effort not to get into a brand debate I left it open on purpose. My opinions here on reliable and cheap are frowned upon. :lolguy: I also didn’t say 22 can’t be lethal, but in a panic situation popping off 22 and getting a grazing hit vs a that same grazing hit with a self defense 9mm are going to inflict vastly different damage. That’s partly why I chose 9mm with good jhp rounds for the bedside. People underestimate what they can accomplish under severe duress.

I stand behind my recommendation, my wife isn’t afraid of her 9mm and keeps it bedside for when I’m not at home. Personally, I don’t know if I’d trust a 22 for self defense. Too many hopped up meth-heads going crazy lately and nothing short of serious restraints (or firepower) seem to stop them. I’d rather see someone get something they have good availability in to practice than a shelf queen that never gets shot and can’t be relied on if SHTF. Training and practice are a must regardless of what’s chosen.

On Pittsburg brand and “better” they are warrantied, but the cheap-o stuff isn’t. Just watch what you buy. As for craftsman, I can’t get them to replace anything locally. They try to replace my old craftsman stuff with their knockoff line that has no warranty so they can pound sand.

For sockets anymore, I’ve opted to scour eBay or whatever for the onesie-twosie I need to replace and keep my sets complete. Other than that, kobalt is ok for sets, as is anything “better” from harbor freight if you are just a shade tree mechanic like many of us. I’ve broken a few things over the years from harbor freight and never had an issue with getting a replacement, even if it’s a piece from a bigger set. They’ve usually just opened the set up, pulled the piece out and handed it to me. Then I wait for them to put the opened set on the clearance rack, but lately those clearance markdowns have been terrible.

I'm kicking myself for not jumping on a new vehicle for the wife at the beginning of COVID when dealerships were doing anything to keep people interested in shopping. Passed on a number of good "delivery deals" because I just didn't want to move on it right then. Hindsight though right? Could have bought, kept her current then sold it now for more than it's really worth in this market.

Even if things went magically "back to normal" right now, I think it would take a year or two for the panic to die off. Add the BS with the news pumping everything up, it's gonna WAY take longer. We were looking to replace my wife's DD but I think that fucker will rot and fall apart now before we replace it. I know of people that are paying WAY over MSRP for cars now because they fear "it'll get worse" and they keep spouting shortages as the cause for concern. Manufacturers are seeing this "panic buying" and they are soaking it up, why start producing in mass if you can make more profit with less right now?

You answered your own question there, but i've seen many people go in and put down payments on a car waiting for delivery because they are afraid it's only going to get worse so they want to "lock in" at the right now price. Dealerships are playing it up too.

I have cases of 12ga but I’m in WV. If you can wait till I’m passing through or meet me, I can check what I have down in the cabinet.
