  1. How did you aquire investment angels without a business plan let alone an idea?? One thing you'll learn about the venture capital game is that the deal is not done and the investment isn't guaranteed untill the money is in the bank.
  2. "The eastward shift of the storm track translates to little snow in hard-hit areas of the Ohio and Tennessee valleys from this storm. However, an upper-level disturbance will still spread light snow into the Midwest Sunday into Monday, and very cold air and strong winds will follow the departing storm in the East. " -your link
  3. I am not jailbroken. Fieldrunners - fun tower defense game. TouchGrind - If you've ever skated before. UrbanSpoon/Around me- These actually saved me when I was in the middle of nowhere, TN and out of gas. Pandora Mint/pageonce-to manage and remind you of bills and expenses.
  4. In it's current state... I would. I don’t think the final bill will look anything like its current manifestation. The Dems need 2 more senators to sway their way. Republican influence, while not as potent as it was 4 months ago, will push for more tax cuts to the tune of 440Bish. I don’t think that is effective either. As I said, corporations are not Warren Buffet. They are so focused on the ramifications of current quarter actions and stock holder satisfaction that they will not go into the red with out the consumer stepping up to the plate. So how do we motivate the stubborn middle class out of their tight pocketed malaise? It's a chicken and egg scenario: Consumers wont spend until they are gainfully employed, companies wont hire until consumers spend. My Keynesian macroeconomic preference lends me to believe that the most effective solution is to return those millions of displaced workers back to the market place first. Large TVA style public works projects take to long to develop, Smaller pot hole patching projects are stupid and dont benefit the overall health of the nation. The challenge of finding a balance that actually creates enough jobs, does so quickly enough, and has a sustainable impact on the future viability of the nation, is the reason I am not in politics.
  5. This is actually my biggest concern with it too. When FDR made his New Deal work, he was working with a much more blue collar workspace. People displaced from manufacturing jobs were re-distributed amongst the capital investments. These roads and bridges carried a long term benefit and created an infrastructure that was necessary for future development. Repairing a road is not my idea of investing in our infrastructure. This recession is effecting people like my GF who has an MBA and many years of pharm sales and administration experience. She wont be on a public works project anytime soon. We need some innovation with this stimulus and I'm not seeing it so far.
  6. . If your new credit card multiplied every dollar you spent as it shifted hands from the retailer to the wholesaler and back to the manufacturer not to mention the transporters and others who expedite your purchases, then yes it is exactly like that. The purpose of the bill is not tax cuts but capital investment in infrastructure projects to create the jobs. The reason your trickle down, Reganomic, Republican rhetoric doesn't work is because as the economy contracts, businesses freeze the liquidity they might have, hold capital investments, and wait for the consumers to return to optimistic bliss. Will the Obama stimulus work, Im skeptical, but I sure hope so.
  7. I got nothing in Westerville. Where is this snow you all speak of?
  8. Right... This train is off the tracks.
  9. You think your perspective might be a bit skewed as a result of your pre-combat indoctrination and direct combat experience against anti-interventionist insurgents? In trying to figure out motives in a street fight... whose perception carries more weight? The actual combatants or those who witnessed the actions on both sides?
  10. Exactly. I haven't seen many terrorists going after Japan. Democracy [Freedom!]: Check Women's Lib: Check Music and culture: Check The freakiest porn you've ever seen: Check If you think that our "way of life" is really why they hate us, continue to enjoy the ignorance of believing everyone else is more ignorant than you.
  11. First, those of you who believe that these people are just going to be set free are ignorant. I couldn't be happier that we have a President who recognizes that 9/11 was the result of decades of foreign policy that ignored long term implications for expedient results. We meddled in the affairs of Sovereign nations in our own self interest without realizing that we might create some resentment among the civilians who were slaughtered by the tyrants we put in place or the wars we financed under the guise of supporting "freedom fighters". That's what Regan called his Mujahidin guerrilla fighters who fought in Afghanistan against the encroaching Russian Army. (PS. Bin Laden was among those "Freedom Fighters") It's our history of hypocrisy and unilateral intervention that services or own short term self interests with complete disregard for the humanitarian toll left in the wake of our objectives that resulted in 9/11. All it takes is a quick reference to a single act of terrorism to somehow inspire some visceral patriotic U.S.A chanting and foot stomping among our more conservative posters. As terrible as it was, 9/11 pales in comparison to the devastation wrought on other nation's civilians both in peace time and war. Your single minded patriotism compels you to have compassion for 9/11 victims but not the other innocent victims around the world because those foreigners could never have been you. It's hard, you know, when you take away the black and white. All you have is grey. You realize that even hell-bent terrorists have motives with context. You realize that the USA is not on some grandiose pedestal of infallibility. What's hardest though... is when you realize that with all the turmoil we are directly responsible for in the world... that we haven't been on the receiving end of a whole lot more than the retaliations we've witnessed. Obama does not sympathize with the terrorists. He realizes that to change the tide, to diminish the motive of those who wish us harm, he must change the way we do business. He must end the hypocrisy, avoid killing innocents, and hold ourselves to the same standards we expect from nations who are less powerful. [taken from my post on cdsm]
  12. P.S Chief Justice Roberts re-arranged the words in the oath putting faithfully at the end of the sentence rather than the middle. Obama paused to let him correct himself. They did a fancy dance around the remaining words to get it right.
  13. I voted for Obama and am happy with my choice. Does that make me Naïve too?
  14. I drove through it trying to go to LifeTime fitness last night. There were literally hundreds of saggy pants kids flooding the streets. They seemed to be converging on McDonalds on near Lowes. The GF and I had to stop and get some Kitty food after the work out. We figured Walmart would be a good place to see the aftermath. At least 150 kids in and around the McDonalds inside. I hate poor people and their kids.
  15. right! How bout adjusting your exemptions so you don't get what sounds like multiple thousand dollar returns.

  17. Part II... Your roommates argument is incorrect. Adjustable thermostats that lower the temp at night and while you are gone are considered "green" and can dramatically reduce your heating expenses. It is simply bad math to assume that it will take more energy to resume a higher temp after an extended drop.
  18. imagine owning a whole house by yourself...
  19. Priced too aggressively??... 150.
  20. I lost my dad last year. Same reason. I consider myself to be very in control of my emotions and conditioned responses. It affected me in ways that I could have never predicted. I tried to go back to work 2 days later which was a terrible mistake. My grief manifested itself in ways completely unrelated to the circumstance. It will make you appreciate what you have. It will make you healthier and more concerned with your own mortality. It will get better... but it will never go away completely.
  21. Model number 50V500 TV works but is afflicted with a common light engine problem that casts a red hue across a majority of the screen. It is a relatively easy fix, but I've replaced this tv with Flat panel TVs and don't care to deal with it. My apathy is your gain. $200 http://images.craigslist.org/3n13p83oe1f012614c91d1b6bc5d4b5901eb2.jpg How to get it fixed: Link
  22. Add me to the list... I am doing a biggest loser at my workplace... I've bulked up sufficiently to ensure the win. I will be doing my usual bodybuilder pre-contest CutDiet. It is impossible for most people to follow, but I am awesome. Ill post before and after pics too which will also be awesome.
