OSU's offense has actually shown growth, not just running the same exact plays and steamrolling lesser competition like last year when they proclaimed the offense "fixed". I think Wilson is finally getting comfortable calling plays with the players he has on the field.

The loss of Luke Fickell is GLARING on defense. Linebacker play has slightly regressed and it feels like there is no real gameplan. Fickell was in charge of both the last 9 years.

Yep. I am off the JT bandwagon. He doesn't elevate the WR around him. I think our WR coaching is a major issue too. We don't have guys who are super elite talent like Michael Thomas, Devin Smith, or Braxton Miller, so they need coached up and I don't think Zach Smith can do that

I went back and watched highlights from 2014 and I think I have the answer.... Hand talent. Michael Thomas, Devin Smith, Dontre Wilson, Heurman, Vannett.... They all had sticky hands. JT could trust the shit out of them that they were going to catch the ball when he put it out there for them. I don't see that trust developing with anyone and he is being careful where he places the ball. He had that trust with Brown last year, but Brown wasnt a downfield threat. I think the silly "6 starters" rotation is hindering that. He needs reps with his core so they can trust each other and develop.

Alabama's offense looked like total dogshit. 269 total yards, 3-16 on third down, 96 passing yards. Thats like OSU vs Clemson bad.

I give Barrett a pass on missing that deep throw to Baugh. Baugh didn't practice all fall, so there isn't any timing there. I thought he looked a lot better. That drop by Campbell was a perfect deep ball. There were also a few times where the ball went wide and the camera would show him yelling at the receiver afterwards.

New offensive coordinators + no tune up game = first half. I think Cobbs and Hale are probably the most physically dominating receiver group I can remember seeing OSU play against. A defender would be all over one of those guys and they just pluck the damn ball out of the air. JT looked solid, need more help from the WR though. You cant just keep running towards the defenders when they drop 8, sit in a weak spot in the zone, damn. Too many drops too. D-Line is legit, Linebackers are legit. It will be interesting to see how they use Weber and Dobbins together. Wilson has coached multiple teams with 2 1,000 yard rushers.
