  1. lol it has needed to be replaced for a while now, just not in the budget. Does seafoam in the crankcase still smoke like a son of a bitch? I'm hoping it is something stupid like a collapsed lifter of bent pushrod but wouldn't I also head the rocker arms chattering?
  2. never heard of those I'll have to try it in the morning. Some one on another site said if it's a collapsed lifter try some seafoam and that he's seen it free them up before. any truth to this?
  3. 91 s10 just hit 195,050 miles. I have had some small problems with it in the past and overall it's a good running truck, until now. Went to town a little bit ago and on my way back I noticed a knocking sound coming from under the hood. Blocked the tires, started it up and attempted to find where it was coming from but only having one good hear it's hard for me to find the source of the noise. I hjave heard main bearing knock before and this isn't as loud and doesn't sound like it has the same tone. It does seem to get a little louder when the rpm's are increased but what I found odd is when I was checking for it, it went completely away a few times. What is a good method to finding out exactly where the knock is coming from? Really can't afford for this truck to be down nor can I afford to put another engine in it at the moment. I can't tell if it's in the bottom end or top. You can't hear it driving down the road unless you're in first or second. If it was a main bearing wouldn't it be very loud? Same with cam bearings? edit-just had the neighbor who is a diesel mechanic listen to it and he put his hands on the valve covers and said he can feel it in the passenger side and told me he thinks it's a collapsed lifter. Now, if this were the case would I be able to tell for sure by pulling that side valve cover off and checking for a really loose rocker arm?
  4. Correct. Supposed to hear back from them today with more details.
  5. no came from down around the Ohio/West Virginia border
  6. Well PNC sent the vin to the loan department to see if there's a lien on it and sure enough, there is. She called me today and said the way it sounded was that the loan was paid off but the owner never pursued to get the title. Apparently they're going to send me some sort of form to fill out to get it released to me. she made it sound simple but I have a feeling it's not going to be. at least she found it though.
  7. 2002. BMV said it had to of been titled before at some point. I know there's got to be a way to move forward with this but they're just not allowing me to
  8. called the number to the title place on the bmv website. No record of this vin I have already triple checked to make sure I'm writing it down as it is on the frame. Maybe I should check again. This doesn't make sense
  9. I traded a dell inspiron for it. If I scrap anything it'll just be the bare frame.
  10. it is a 2002 model. If I can't do this without breaking any laws I'll just scrap it. I seen today it's illegal to sell an atv without a quad without a title. Wonder if he knows this
  11. I got a bill of sale. Not that uncommon and to be honest didn't really question it until I got it home
  12. nevermind, just called them and it's busy
  13. I don't see how I'm going to do it though. she said there was no way to get a title for it without finding the original buyers/whoever holds the title
  14. how often do you guys come out here to ride?
  15. well this sucks. DMV ran the vin for me and said it isn't coming up at all. Also said there definitely should be a title for it somewhere and that I'll need to trace it back to the title holder. Dunno how the hell I'm gonna do that. Even if there should be a title, shouldn't the vin return something? She asked if it was an out of state quad, whcih I do not know. FML
  16. I was shocked local police wouldn't do it. All I need a simple yes or no to tell me if it's clean or not
  17. didn't know they could do anything with atv stuff
  18. to be honest I don't have any idea for sure. I've been told you get ticketed and I've been told they can take it until the matter is resolved in court.
  19. lol you gonna get your shit took man. I know there aren't many people that go there but it will happen
  20. that's the one I used and said it was clean.
  21. Perry County State forest? I'm guessing yes since you're from Mt Perry. I'm like 2 minutes from it and yes, you'll need to get an APV sticker. Think you'll need a title first, and you can get the sticker from the DMV iirc
  22. Got a blaster yesterday and the guy give me a bill of sale. I found a site that you can run vin #'s but I'm not sure how accurate it is. Even though it said it was clean, I'd like to have it checked again. Local police department said they can't do it. I'm not sure if he thought I was asking for info on whoever had it before or what but all I need to know is if it's stolen or not before I put money into it fixing it up. He said try the DMV but I don't think they can help unless I'm trying to get a title for it.
