why do you need to thread the manifold? just make the hole slightly bigger than the thread and the only thing you have to worry about is the bung... besideds, the manifold could crack under heat cycles if you muck up the thread.
-
the BUNG is usually threaded for the sensor... no need to tap anything... just drill or burn a hole in the pipe and weld on the bung. Something that i have seen people do is just weld a nut to the pipe... just an option if you cant find a prethreaded bung.

i still have love for the classic T3 .63/T4 56 trim. Its about the most universal thing for 1.6-2.5 liters. The damn thing flow 650cfm so it can make more than enough power for most things.

That is going to be a really tough game to pick, and most deffinatly going to be a toss up. But if theres anyone that can answer to Tom Bradys amazing play thus far, its Payton Manning.

While myself and Mark were wrenching on Bills car, i hate that fucking car btw, I suddenly heard a loud noise behind me over by the montecarlo. My first thought was the head of the bolt i had just been torquing on snapped off and hit the car, but i confirmed that wasnt the case. So i began looking at the body to see if there was any damage and a spotted the dent in the roof... well in the dent was a hole. It was perfectly round so i figured it to be a bullet, but we couldnt find one anywhere. So we called the cops and they came out and confirmed the hole to be from a bullet, and then stumbled across the bullet laying in the drive way on the same path 3 of the 4 officers had just walked over. It even still had the red paint on it from the roof of the car. I was about 8-10ft away from it, and Mark was on the other side of the car, so just a few feet further. It was just a really odd thing to happen... for a bullet to just drop out of the sky and land so close to us... but were just lucky it didnt hit us.

Because thats not what we were talking about you stupid fuck! i was telling you that you DONT have to rev it out to make power and somehow you think im confirming what you said in the first place? Your a fuckin moron. Go hold your head under the water untill the bubbles stop dude.

So i happend across this... very cool. http://youtube.com/watch?v=g0y2ZdEGLOg

Waoh hold the phone... first of all, the Z24 was going to be a 2.6, bigger than any other 4 banger in a car out there. Secondly, youre going to hit a brick wall at some point and the motor just wont make any more power without exploding, simply not enough cubes. The reason they CAN do what i say they can, is becasue of physics, and is also why they CANT make as much power at the end of the day. But are you really going to throw a 4 banger into a 3500lb sled? Fuck no, youll put it in the smallest thing you can find. Probably something around 2000lbs. In which case a modest 400bhp/400trq will make you quicker from 50-150 than almost any OEM car without too much trouble. If you got froggy and built one in the 500-600hp/ 500+ lbft range, youre going to need Tilleys car to run it down... and thats a toss up. The trick to a 4cyl is to exploit its advantages rather than try to make its disadvantages not so bad. Bottom line, the bigger the motor, the more you can get for a longer period of time, in the world of 4 bangers, the desired effect is not IMPOSSIBLE... very rare and far between, but it can happen with the right touch.

ive seen this before with 2 Ferraris and another slow car but this one is really cool. http://youtube.com/watch?v=APiApBXkzJc heres the Ferrari one.

Why dont you guys just meet in Norwalk... you have all the time in the world to get a race off, plenty of video, plenty of witnesses, and you can race multiple times to lock down an outcome. Its not fuckin brain surgery.

you see now i thought he said they were Nascar heads.... i dont remember, it was a couple years ago. i do know he siad he could spin to a rediculous rpm, but i dont remember exactly how high. you could be right.
-
i thought i was very direct and concise with that post... it means, they dont like dsms, and if you dont know which one, just dont go because theyll make you wish you hadnt anyway. Sorry if i hurt your feelings Trust me, im a car guy, ive been into a little of everything. i dont mind DSMs, i only mind people who race their cars around like morons. Sam and Shannton are both very nice guys, and they arent the only ones either. Some of the nicest people ive ever met are on this board, and some of the most retarded are too.

actully its not, and thats why you fail.

omg... F = M x V... figure it out. lets see... 4 rods = 2240g 4 pistons = 1380g total = A FUCK LOAD LESS THAN A V8! When you have less weight, you can spin it faster. 150k fps for a V8 is a good place to stop for a constant load. On a 4 banger, 162k fps. with forged, and factory balance. The lighter you go, the faster you can go before the equivilant load is reached, i.e. the breaking point. Anything else youd like me to teach you young grasshopper?

First, i wasnt running 205's, i was on 245's borrwed over from a Montecarlo. Second, i was only spraying my way to about 300hp, but somewhere in the neighborhood of 330lb-ft. Roasting tires in 3rd gear 3500rpm from a shift point, was not something i had expected from that. Is it just some coincidece that all my 4cyl motors have made a fair amount more torque than horspower? No. Theres a recipe, and just becasue you dont know it, doesnt mean its not there. Third, you are still ignorant to the fact that YOU DONT HAVE TO REV HIGH TO SPOOL. You dont NEED a massive turbo to make 500hp. A T3/T4 62-1 can do that, and you dont have to rev out for that to make 60in of boost. Besides, a small shot does just fine to spool if you really need it, but built properly you dont need it. Youre forgetting that all these drag cars are built on the top end because they want to run quick with trap speed, not bottom end grunt. Youre also forgetting that most of these engines make way more horsepower than torque. The big 4cyl engines dont have to. They can make square figures just like a small block can, but its all in the setup. Im sorry thats too complicated for you to grasp, but its just the way it is. Besides, my Volvo > your piece of shit cougar any day of the week.

I think Matt (tinman) said he could sppin that high if he wanted but if i remember right he shifts at like 8500... its been a while so theres a good chance thats incorrect.

Fail.

ColumbusDSM... youll fit right in. Theres a few fast ones on here, but i dont think the cruise this board very much. First off, i dont even go there so i dont give a shit who goes. Second, since youre about 12yrs old, and you seem to think your opinon matters to me, ill go out of my way to explain to you about the people at Jegs... They are the oldest of old school. They HATE anyhting and everything that sounds like a swarm of pissed off bees. If its not a V8, they dispise it. Ive heard some pretty ugly first hand stories about how theyve treated some of the local guys that are into 4cyl, and its pretty rediculous. For your own sake, dont waste your time or your gas unless your running a 383 at the very least. i myself had a bad expierence there, and will never go back, just because the people were assholes about me asking questions about there cars.

Well thats what im getting at, the 4 banger can do the same thing, it just has to be set up propperly. When you have a small 4cyl with a short stroke that revs to high heaven to begin with, why not slap a big turbo and rev it higher! But when you have a big 4cyl that has a monster stroke on it (greater than 3.750), ou may as well use its stroke to get your power down low. Thats what we were doing... using long intake runner manifolds on the cold side, long tubes on the hot side, and 410 lit cams @ 220 and we were making power plenty low with the ability to run it to 7200 or higher with the JPB 268 cams if we really wanted to. Its just a matter of setup is all.
