So i was looking through the jegs catalough and spotted the parachutes and read the discription and started to think... There equation says that you take the weight of the car in pound, multiply that by your trap speed, and divide by one thousand, and thats your index number for what size chute you need. So i did the volvo... 3125 x 88 --------- = 275 1000 So the Super Gas chute, is for cars with an index of 248 and lower... What the fuck?

Oh dont get me wrong, I im not going to be all hard core or anything, but were talking about a lot of very fast cars coming out, and it would be very easy for someone to drop a little bit of fluid that was hiding in the engine bay from a slow leak onto mid track and cause someone serious problems. If you have a puddle of anit freeze sitting atop your tranny, guess what, its fresh, youve got a leak, and you shouldnt be on the track. The last thing id want to see is someone get hurt and a beautiful car destroyed. What ever Chris and Norwalk officials deligate to us as tech reps, is what ill stick to.

Of course you new guys had fun, youve never actully seen a good turn out though... last night was a bunch of bullshit. Normally, i could just pull into the lot, squeeze through the cones, park, pull out my chair and sit down around a dozen people i know with another dozen walking around and eventually finding me later... last night i walked the whole lot and only saw Hal, because he yelled at me and got my attention. As soon as the highschool kids caught wind of it, it got out of control. Im going to have to find a new spot... and i think i know a good place that i can take complete control of. Only 2 entrences, about 60 spaces...

I personally will be looking for fluids loose in the engine bay, or on the ground under the car. Skid panels, valences, airdams, heat shields, all need to be secure and not flopping around. No loose wiring or hoses flopping around in the engine bay... things that start a fire or cause leaks basically. If your car is well maintained, youll be fine.. like anthony said, if you show up with something that lookins like it was in a bad boys movie, chances are your going home.

Everyone should bring a few zip ties incase we find any loose wires of hoses that need to be secured. Ill have a handfull with me in tech. Also, If you have any air dams, skid panels, or heat shields under the car, make sure they are secure and not flapping around... you wont pass tech.

Heres my view and perhaps Chris can yay or nah it... If your car is running 13's at 110mph or less, than your car is quick because its getting out off the line very well. If your pulling 13's at 125mph, your car is running SLOW because of traction issues. I.E. FWD turbo cars. I dont see a problem with a 13.0 car not wearing a helmet as long as its not breaking 110mph. But if your trapping 110 or better, your car has a lot left in it if your only pulling 13's, and you need to wear some sort of protective gear. Ill enforce anything that Chris asks me to, and well tech pretty thuroughly, but somtimes a judgment call needs to be made for safty, and if i have to make the call, id say the trap limit is 110mph, after that, your wearing a helmet. this only pertains to the cars running 13.0 or slower, making those trap speeds.
