Here is a book that looks like an interesting read about how before the depression fraternal organizations were popular throughout most groups as a way of taking care of their own without the governments intervention. I have not read this book yet but my gut feeling is the reason that these groups fell out of favor is because it's too local and the people helping you can see if you actually need the help or not. With big government casting a broad protective blanket over all of it's sheep it's much easier to claim the need because the people handing you the money aren't handing you their money just money from a giant government pot so nobody cares if you really need it or not. I think it's funny that in the comments people are concerned that the bike-jacker layed on the ground writhing in pain and nobody helped him. I think as an extra security measure they should sell each C-7 with a different combination for shifting. While in my C-7 you may shift 3,2,5,1,4,7,6 in yours you may have to shift 7,5,3,6,2,4,1 that would keep things interesting.lol

I would have a whole lot more confidence in the ACA if and only if they could show me where some truly intelligent people had worked together to come up with it. Well I have to say as a government worker that this doesnt surprise me at all. They didnt seem concerned about my pay last fiscal year when they sequestered us for 48hrs of pay why should now be any different for now I'm going to assume that this applies for those workers that still had to come in and do their jobs even though they were not getting paid and not people that were sitting at home like me. Oh and for the record I dont make 6 figures like you talk about in your next post.

Havent watched the video yet and I'm not in the tea party and honestly wouldnt even know they still existed other that remarks like this and comments on facebook. But I would vote against MY best interest if I knew it was for the greater good. Maybe if some voters would stop using a vote for what is good for ME attitude and use a vote for what is good for US attitude things would be a little better for all of us. Oh I understand what your saying and completely agree with you my biggest beef with the situation was he could have said there is nothing I can do right now but we have people that can help here. The neurosurgeon that saved him was in the SAME hospital. Seems like you would want to exhaust all of your option before telling someone that their spouse of 30+ years is going to die. I dont mind if a Doc doesnt really have people skills but if you lack people skills you better be on top of your game.

Well it certainly helps out the anti gun folks when they have occurrences like this that show the people who are trained to use guns dont know how to use them right. I can totally understand shooting at her if she was driving right at you but in the video it appears they dont start shooting until she drives away, at that point she doesnt seem like she was much of a threat to them.

I agree, when my uncle had a stroke a few years ago the doc came out and told my aunt who had been married to my uncle for over 30 years at the time that there is nothing we can do your husband is going to die. Then he seemed surprised when she broke down into tears. Just like that with as little emotion as someone ordering a meal at McDonalds. Luckily my aunts niece works for a neurosurgeon at the same hospital and when the neurosurgeon found out about my uncle she came in to work while on vacation and immediately took my uncle in to surgery to put a stint in his brain, basically saving his life.

Exactly it amazes me that people still think that the greater the government oversight the less corrupt and wasteful it will be. With that many people "watching" things nothing gets seen.
