  1. Who would be interested in a say 60 car maximum, street car race at NRP or the like, with say a $2500 purse with $1500 to the winner. Rules will be loosely based on NMCA True Street rules with a few exceptions in terms of eliminations, and body rules. No clocks, or timeslips, just turn on the win light.

Entry fee would be around $100.

    Any takers?

  2. So everyone with a fast car that does not approve of the gay lifestyle that you and hefty live is a fag. Yea that makes sense,..quit trying to sound so smart,.. because your making yourself look like a dumbass.

......or perhaps he's hitting a little too close to home? :asshole:

  3. Sorry to threadjack, but I have a '97 SL1 SOHC/5spd beater that I've had for a little over a year now. It is about to turn 200k miles. I'm amazed at how solid everything about the car feels. Were there any issues with the SOHC motor other than the above mentioned hg issue, or anything else to look out for? I intend to keep this thing until it dies.

Like I said though, mine has been unbelievably reliable. I beat the hell out of it every chance I get, no lift shifting and all. If you can get this one for a good price I'd say go for it.

  4. ive got one that does v-8 iron heads , but wont help much on this... but a long socket and hammer, put a rag in the chamber area (when its laying on the bench)and hit it a few times and the locks will pop out... i used too install them back by hand, one person hold down the spring and one poping the locks back in..

That's seriously the best way to remove the valves on a 4g63. Make sure the head is on a soft surface, ie. a pillow, and dip a deep well socket in some grease. Then insert an extension into the socket, place it on the retainer and smack it with a hammer. For re-installation, I use a modified C-clamp, of the large variety with a O2 sensor socket welded onto the end.

  5. I'm not sure what happened yet. I lost some tranny fluid and there was some puddling on the top of the case. The tranny shifts fine though and makes no noises. My immediate reaction is that I tore a tranny seal where the passenger side axle goes into the tranny and it starting spitting out fluid. I don't think it was anything major. Usually when DSM trannys fail, it is quite the audible, devastating effect with much carnage :D

I didn't have any strange noises, or ill driving manners when the pin from my front diff cracked the case on the wwd.

  6. Tell your fags up there that they're not backing us, they're backing their loud mouths that spew too many excuses.

Fucking cry me a river. I'll find the world's smallest violin to play their song.

I am not going to be able to run. The Laser is awaiting some tranny refinements, nitrous and ignition upgrades. I'm also pretty busy working on the twin engined, AWD, 8 second capable Colt. I know I would have been the fastest in the 14 second bracket.

  7. I hope you know that the turbine housing as been changed since Alex had the car and is making much less power now than when Alex had it. Mike Phillips and Sherek put that car Together for Angelo. When Alex has it 138 was the best trap. Since Angelo has get it back from Phillips it has not been in the 130's.

So Mikes evo would have raped it.

Did I compare it to the evo or claim how much power it made? It has an assembly error, and or an oiling problem if it's going to keep doing this. Nothing more, nothing less. Detonation is going to melt pistons long before it is going to pound rod bearings into oblivion. Pre-ignition on the other hand......well that would most likely be caused by the map in the ecu, or the way the timing was set-up. That would be violent enough to maul the bearings, but at the pump gas boost level, there's nothing that the operator did wrong. For the record, I just met the kid for the first time on friday so I have no reason to defend him, other than the fact that he wouldn't know how to turn the boost up even if someone showed him.

  8. Why did you guys turn the boost up when it was tuned for pump gas?

Jp, good to see some of you guys made it down. Next time bring some cash, its just not worth it to me or for alot of others to risk anything on a free race. :)

Turned the boost up on what? If you mean the STI, it was at a whopping 15psi on the pump gas that it was t00ned for. Nothing out of whack with the tune, and the fact that the heap has destroyed itself how many times now, leads me to believe that someone can't assemble a motor, or that Subaru's are inherantly weak garbage. As much as I'd love to believe that latter, I can't.
