I know my wife and I are re-prioritizing our financial lives as well, which means her next vehicle in about 15 months will be paid for with about a 5k downpayment, and a 12 month loan. Total vehicle price will be 10k. No more long terms OR buying new. The value of used cars is too high to justify new car prices.

If by function, you mean being able to throw stuff in the bed, sure. Not much function in the small cab, or lack of real storage space that a rear seat and trunk/hatch provides. Pretty good value though, the chevy's look good and for around 11k. Not bad for a 3 year old truck.

2003 Acura TL with about 60k miles 2004 TSX with 80k miles 2005 Buick Lacross with 35k miles 2006 Ford Fusion with 26k miles Honda fit/civic/accord Toyota corolla/camry/yaris/scion etc VW golf/jetta Tons of cars man. This is using 10k as the max price, so expect to pay about 8k for the vehicles. Just looked at the lowest mileage examples to give you ideas of price. If you could pick up a quality I4 manual Ford Fusion with under 50k for 8k, that would be my vote (besides VW).

Since the main point of this new purchase is financial savings, is spending 13k really necessary? For 5-8k you could find a very nice car and save a big chunk of change.

1 year old house. 1400 sq ft. max electric bill was been 125. Max gas was 75. Temp set at 75 in winter and about 65-68 in summer. After reading this thread, I am very happy with our costs lol.

It's not bad initially, but as the months go by it starts to become boring as shit. I went to the DSG, and it still became a boring automatic after a while. I will never own an automatic for as long as I can physically push the clutch pedal in.

I agree. I had it on my 06 black gti, hated it. Actually pulled it off. It was the bumper, 1.5 ft up the hood, front part of fenders and mirrors. Like you said, it collected crap on the edges, and made the covered area dull instead of shiny after a wash/wax. Just checking since you are doing everything else proactively. And please don't listen to these people. While your winter wheels don't look bad at all, they are no BBS. The factory STI BBS wheels are absolutely stunning.
