That is one of the main social hindrances of the black population. You have people that are stuck in the mindset that something that happened 150+ years ago is holding them back today. Sounds like you might have a touch of that. Nearly every population has been in bondage at one time or another, but most have moved on. My point in the comparison was not to say the Irish had it as bad as Africans that were enslaved, but the Irish today don't blame the past for today's issues. The dems have played on the history of the black population offering "help" through social and entitlement programs that have hindered progress and foster dependence on the government by minorities in my opinion. Until the minority population sees that, they will always look to the government to right the wrongs of the past by taking from others to give to them. I did not say it was not valid, but to say "we" have not lost freedoms based upon slavery is a little on the naive side. I think I am going to go buy a truck load of AK-47 tomorrow. Back in the 80's there was a big stink over this because the powers that be decided to lower the standard to be a fire fighter so women can get in those positions. When your fighting a fire you need to be able to do the job no matter your gender or race. I hope I don't die in a fire because the person who came to rescue me got the job on lower physical standards. Of course if you grow your business to the point you catch the attention of Jesse Jackson he may show up at your door step telling you to hire more minorities or a law suit is coming. In the past Jesse has just taken the pay outs from the companies in the form of board positions or beer distributorship for his son to leave them alone. We will have to disagree on this one.

So you pick one portion of history to base a broad blanket opinion. So how many people today want to cry about slavery that happened over 100 years ago? Many. Get over it. I don't dwell on my people coming here and not being able to be hired for work, get a home etc. We have lost the freedom of speech, we can no longer speak out about issues without the possibility of it being labeled hate speech. We have lost property rights. the government is taking property and redistributing it to private for profit companies that will give a higher tax return. we have the illusion of property ownership. We rent from the government and call it property taxes. We have lost the freedom from unreasonable search and seizure. All the government has to do is say it is in the name of national security regarding investigation of terrorism. We have lost the right to bear arms. I have to have a license to carry concealed. Someone forgot we have a second amendment. We have lost the basic freedom to run our lives and raise our children the way we want. The government is now dictating how we should raise our kids. Dont spank them you might be abusing them. We have lost the right to worship the way we choose in public. We might offend someone. We have lost Habeus Corpus. We have lost the freedom of a free market. I now have the state telling me how I can market my office. The government is semi-dictating pricing in health care. We have lost the freedom to have the best man or woman get the job. We call that affirmative action. We have lost the freedom to make financial transaction with out Uncle Sam knowing about it. Make a deposit in the bank over 10k and you are automatically suspected of wrongdoing. Get stopped by the po po with 30K and see how fast it gets taken from you until you prove how you got it. We call that fighting terrorism and drugs. We have lost the freedom to move around the country without big brother watching. When you fly Uncle Sam is watching. We have lost the freedom to own our own labor. Slavery before the mid 1800's came in the form of forced labor and was a terrible thing. Now we have become slaves to the state in the form of taxes on the labor that we do. This was not the intention of the founding fathers. Taxing your labor impedes on your independence. Just a few ways we have lost freedoms.

Well school me how I am wrong. Give me all the details about how my knowledge of history is incorrect. My bet is you believe what you were taught in school. Revisionist history is dangerous because you don't get the lessons taught by the people that came before us.

Stop for a second and think how many laws have been passed in 100 years that limit your freedoms. I went to a public school that was 80-90% black, I know what it is like to be not liked because of skin color. You need to read a little more. The bills do not have a mechanism to check the citizenship status. Therefore they may still get the benefits even though they are not entitled to them.

So why are we not fighting now? Easy answer to that. Americans now like the idea of something for nothing. We have had an entitlement attitude since the 1930's. Each generation gets worse as a whole.

We already have over 1 % of our population in prisons. We already have concentration camp, the public schools an universities are doing a great job of "educating" the kids with liberal ideals. If you go back and look ate what I said the problems are about 100 years old. Much of what you see today can be traced back to the Hover Presidency. These issues did not start with Bush or Obama. Obama is by far the most Radical president we have ever had. We may as well shred the Constitution now, we are not using it.

I would look back toward Hebert Hover as to the start of the policies that we see today. Here is a scenario. Laws are being put into place now that will allow total control by the government of the citizen in case of civil disturbance, medical emergencies etc. Marshall law could be declared vary easily, then no elections. Dems have control over congress, the push through a bill giving broader power to the president then boom we are now communist. Long shot but history has seen it done in the past. BTW... Health care reform will be the vehicle to push through other reforms to grow government and intrude on your personal and financial business. my .02

It has already happened. Americans have sat back and allowed our constitution to be trampled on for the last 100 years. People need to listen to what this guy says. Dont be blinded by his charisma, charm, looks etc. Take him at his word. He has proven so far to be true to his word. I warned people about him last year, but liberals are blinded by charm like the pied piper with mindless mice. America set up the perfect storm last year. We had a candidate that was a socialist, and a socialist/democrat controlled congress, we have no checks and balance right now. It is not impossible to change the soils of America from a republic of free people to a land of virtual enslavement with in a term. Who would have ever thought it would be possible to spend more than all the President combined within a few short weeks in office? Never say something cant be done. As some of you know, I have a cousin on death row in Arizona. This past August, I went to Phoenix to visit him and while sitting in the waiting area I heard an amazing conversation. A Hispanic lady was sitting about 5 feet from me and she was talking to another lady that happened to be from Great Britain. The Hispanic lady was telling the other she was moving to Mexico because she had more freedom there. She went on to talk about how the government here has embedded itself into our lives to the point she was willing to move to the city in Mexico where her father is from. She said she sold her home and business and was just waiting on the close of the sale of the house and they were heading south. To hear that from the lady floored me. A US citizen saying she had more freedom in Mexico than here was confirmation to me that we have finally reached a point where the Land of the Free is no more.
