  1. No one here is defending drunks, just civil liberties. All the cops at these events could be patrolling the streets and finding drunks on the roads without check points. Michigan and other states have found the check points are not very effective in catching drunk drivers. I think the man power could be better spent being productive and keeping our civil liberties intact.
  2. sorry thought it was 14. See, at least 3 lawyers think it infringes on rights;)
  3. If it is illegal to make the turn sure it looks suspicious, if it is within my right to make the turn then no it should not look suspicious. Maybe I just dont choose to take the extra time to participate in the infringement of civil liberties. We have way to many over zealous cops in this world. BTW, the supreme court ruling was a split opinion. Some of the Justices view the stops as violating the 4th amendment. 14 other states think the way I do and have outlawed the stops, including Michigan
  4. I don't think it does look suspicious at all. It is none of the po po bidness where I am going and why. If you break the law with a u turn then get a ticket. Columbus is not the only place these checks take place
  5. Lets face it there are some people that are perfectly fine with giving up their rights. This is exactly why we have boarder patrol stops 50+ miles inside the US, DUI stops and the infamous seat belt checkpoints. The intrusion on our rights will continue until we have a revolution.
  6. Maybe I forgot the loaf of bread the wife wanted my to pick up.
  7. You must not be serious. I would like to see you turn around and not go through the check point. You will be chased down, pulled over and harassed! When I was in college I delivered pizza's in Missouri and they would have cops sitting on all of the side roads leading away from the check point, if you turn down a side road you got pulled over, and questioned. Typically they would ask were you were going, my favorite answer is to point down the road and answer "that way officer". The po po dont like that answer too well.
  8. Tom Selleck doing the narration.
  9. I have spent a lot of time in southern cali. My Family lives in Carlsbad, Hemet and Temecula. I have went through them many times and never had them ask me to search my car. I did think it was funny the first time I saw the illegal immigrant crossing sign. http://www.cahighways.org/images/i5crossing.gif
  10. oh wow... congratulations you have a girlfriend that is a doctor. Maybe we should all send you a card in the mail, some chocolates too, throw you a party, get you a bottle of wine, a box of cigars. On second thought, again,no one cares but your mommy. Get on topic or get out.
  11. Please dont take what I am saying as an endorsement of drunk driving. It is not. We tend to go down a slippery slope when it come to law enforcement. Justification of bending the bill of rights seems like an ok thing in situations like drunk driving. When the law and the courts make the next step to start entering homes just because a few people are growing pot in a certain area of town. People may think different when the po po come knocking at the door. Maybe we should do crack check points next. Anyone that is traveling on E. Main St. will be stopped and searched. We could get the drug dogs out and have them walk up and down the line of cars. Then after the crack check points, we could do illegal firearms check points too. And so on. Over time what is acceptable seems to degrade as people become more comfortable with the government stepping on their rights.
  12. Go cry to mommy she will care what you think.
  13. So I guess citizens should not have an opinion? I hope you stay out of the voting booth. BTW it is lawyers that write laws that sometimes get overturned as unconstitutional. Lawyers may be smart guys, but it does not make them right all the time.
  14. I realize as of now they are legal. Just because we have a law in place does not automatically mean that the law is in the spirit of the constitution. Just look at the struggle with the government and the 2nd amendment. I understand I could refuse the BA test, but the law has been designed to punish you for exercising your rights as provided by the constitution. Take the test or face the penalty. I doubt that is what the framers of the Bill of Rights had in mind. Remember in a criminal case the state has the burden of proof. A citizen should not have to help the state prove its case.
  15. 4th amendment Driving down the road is not probable cause. 5th amendment Why should anyone have to take a breath test? I am not a lawyer but that seems to be in direct violation of the 5th amendment. Just another example of the government over stepping its bounds.
  16. It is obvious you dont knuckle under you are still holding on to what happened 150 years ago. Get over it. I don't need a pitty party I have done well and don't let others hold me back. "The man" never held me down. He never will, I make my own way and always will. Actually I am grateful that I grew up in a rough section. It opened my eyes to the world and made a me a tougher kid. Did not take crap from people then and still don't. Hawaiians don't like anyone but Hawaiians. I am sure Obama did not grow up in a vacuum. He chose not to let others determine his future. A lot of lessons can be learned from him. Maybe you should study him a little more he my inspire you not to blame your issues on the past. Well enough of this conversation, I think I am going to blame everyone for my problems and go vote for Dems so they can support me and make me dependent on them. I am tired of providing jobs in my city and paying taxes. Might as well take someone else to support me. I think I will turn in my guns too. Spread the wealth around- Barak Obama

  18. Thank you for proving my point. The chip on your shoulder is very large. It is sad to hear people say "someone is keeping me down". No one holds you back but yourself. Although I do not like our president, not because of his color, but his views, what he achieved is great. He did not let someone hold him back. Obama grew up in Hawaii, I am not sure if you have spent much time there or not, being a black man in Hawaii is rough. I lived there and worked construction with locals they don't have many kind words for haoles or blacks. I am sure he had people call him everything you have been called. It does not seem that hindered his ambition. You have two choices in life, knuckle under and realize life is not fair, or sit there in a pitty party. In no way am I saying it is ok to degrade or limit someone because of their color. I believe that every should be equal. I don't think that reverse discrimination is right. Two wrongs never make a right. Being white in a majority black school sucked, but I don't sit here and cry poor me. I was threatened, got in many fights, been robbed, had guns pulled on me because I was white. In the end I got on with life and put things behind me. No crying the blues for me. Never in my life have I blamed a failure on someone else. Do you think it is any easier for a white guy to go to 18th and Oak? I bet I would get funny looks and I am sure someone would say something to me about being white. It has happened to me in the past at that corner. Racism is a two way street. I hope someday you will start caring about the freedoms you are losing. Because it will effect you. History will repeat itself.
