  1. Castrol oils Oem filters I dont run synthetics, my cars are old.
  2. Put it up on jack stands and turn the wheels by hand while listening. It may not have any play either, just noisy. Just depends on how bad it really is. As far as Napa bearings go, stick with the BRG bearings. The part number will start with BRG, those are their good bearings.
  3. Couple ways. 1 way is to reach the speed that you can hear the noise and in a "safe" environment. Sway the car left and right. Turning left loads the right side, turning right loads the left side. You are looking for the noise to get louder one direction or the other. Say you pitch the car left and it gets louder, you have isolated the problem to the right side. NOW - I have had vehicles get noisy 1 way, but turn out to have a bad bearing on the unloaded side. With that being said the BEST way to verify is to put it in the air with all 4 wheels up. Put the thing in drive. turn the traction control off and have someone accelerate to about 25-35 mph. Take a screwdriver or stethoscope and place it on the back side of the hub and listen. One side should be quiet and smooth, the other will be noisy/grumbly/pulsating noise. That's your bad bearing. Fronts are the most common on those, they are not hard to change. Wheel off, Caliper bracket/caliper/rotor off, axle nut off, 3 bolts on the back holding the bearing/hub assy. , disconnect abs wire, hit with hammer a couple times if your lucky it will just pop right out.
  4. That's a lot of driving for a straight line. Holy cow.
  5. I value cars based off what they are selling for. I believe blue book is a starting place, but not the bible so to speak. She was not very specific with what years she was looking for based on her spending amount. Another point of what I have been dealing with trying to pinpoint what she wants. Although what Alex is saying above is an interesting point of view, I feel like the point is that it is difficult to find a well maintained car that has over 100K. I know this, as that is why I haven't bought anything for Erica that I have looked at yet. I am not asking for perfection, but the "basics" or the "easy" stuff says a lot to me about how the car was kept. Mine came with very little service records, but the guy was a Subaru nut and based on what I saw it was really nice. I appreciate the conversation in here though, I hope that Erica reads some of it and understands why I pick apart cars the way I do when I go look at them. As I am not the only person who does it, and I believe more people should so that they don't get screwed over like so many people do buying used car private party.
  6. Plus if you have a good trained eye you cant hide accident damage no matter how good you are. You will never get the paint orange peel to match the factory. We find more unreported accident damge from new low mile dealer cars that have a clean carfax that I can count.
  7. Bruh I am a buyer in this instance. I was more than happy with my 176k mile purchase. The bottom of the drivetrain is dry, doesnt burn anything, I mean the oil is still in the full range at 3k. Thats better than most new subarus. I mean cmon. You are saying that because it has 100k which is considered average now a days is not going to be a great car and that maintenance plays no part in ita value. I disagree politely thats all. Dealerships see otherwise, I mean dealers want stupid money for their cars, they cant negotiate on used cars since they have so much in them.
  8. 20 years ago I would agree that over 100k is rough or fair. Now a days I would say your spoiled with new lease cars. Just because it has over 100k that makes it fair? You do realize most timing belts are replaced for the first time then correct?
  9. We have a russian family across the street. They dont really talk much or wave. I joke that they are planning on conquering the neighborhood.
  10. Thanks everyone! And yes Farkas, it will look like that!
  11. My 2.5gt wagon was $3200. Looking at the 98-99 2.5gt.
  12. Akebono's available for your application? Better than high line ceramics performance wise, they didn't dust at all, totally quiet. Had them on Erica's Civic, put this set-up on numerous euro applications with great results.
  13. Were you previously blind? Get some pics up when you can.
  14. Standard F body is standard
  15. It was neat seeing some of the guys letting kids hop in the cars. I'm sure that's a blast for them!
  16. Fair enough I'll be sure to say chello next time we cross paths.
  17. Why does someone have to communicate with another person to get a vibe? I didn't come in here and say everyone there was a dick, I just stated how I felt. There was no bashing on the meet, I stated I would attend again.
